“He stole himself.”

“You called him yours to Riko’s face. ‘My things’, you had no right to covet him. I could have—”

The silence that settled between them felt brittle, and then Andrew said, “Spoil the surprise for me. Did Neil kill Johnson while he was in town?”

“He hired his uncle’s people to handle it.”

Andrew didn’t have the good sense to look at all concerned. He turned away and dug a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket. Jean swiped at them, but Andrew moved out of his reach just in time with a calm, “Your one and only warning: you will lose the hand if you try again.”

“You are an idiot,” Jean accused him. “You were barely fast enough to save him last time. The next time someone takes a swing at him, you and your brisket lungs will have to watch him die. I wouldn’t have given him to you if I’d known you would just throw him away so carelessly.”

For Jean, “love” in the Nest had always been synonymous with violence, pain, and total submission.

It was an incredible experience to become him, even for just a day. Thank you @marsoid for such a complex and living story that keeps making me come back to it again and again.

When I draw Seth, I don’t just see an aggressive teenager in sports gear. My brush sees what lies deeper.

The walls Seth has built around himself aren't about rebellion—they’re his defense, his way of surviving a world that wounds him so often. I try to capture that tension in every single line.

Seth is broken; he’s a "waste of skin," or at least that’s what he often thinks of himself. I want the viewer to feel that vulnerability, even through this rebellious collage.

Exy in the background is his only moment of control, the only time I feel his willpower. It’s his way of fighting his monsters. I include these elements to show how aggression becomes his fuel, his way to keep fighting.

Seth is a broken boy still trying to find his place under the sun. He’s someone who is ready to show you "teeth first" just to protect his fragile world.
