But that immediately made me go about how…. abstract? even the terms platonic and romantic and what they encompass are to me. because how exactly do you define it?? where is the line where something becomes romantic??

i was told that it's the physical part. but you can be affectionate with friends!! you can kiss your friends, you can have sex with your friends. it's just physical, nothing cosmic as they put it.

then they said it's the intensity. but i just don't think i can exactly measure who i love more when i love them differebtly. i don't like that you are apparently supposed to love your friends less, as if they are not as important.

then they said it's who you would like to spend the rest of your life with, start a family with. but even that doesn't feel right to me. i have people who i'd love to spend the rest of my life with — several! and even having kids,, i could imagine myself raising kids with my friends. it fulfills the same standards of having kids with romantic partners.

I feel like this is a more common thing to do amongst afab people from experience, which adds a whole new layer of "can we please just be normal about bonds".

The single person who wasn't my mom or one of my very close friends that actually listened to me about this was one coworker of mine who had a queer son of her own.
