It is currently still May where I'm at, so I present my MerMay for 2026! MerMay Maxley!! MerBradley and PirateMax!

Max may be drowning, but seeing a Merman is still a surprise. Bradley is seeing a human for the first time!

HAPPY VALENTINE’S DAY!! It’s still Feb. 14th here, so I’m not late! HA HA! I got this finished this morning and had to go to work right after, so I have been WAITING ALL DAY to post this.

I’m so excited to show this off! A friend of mine said it needed to be an outdoor wedding, sooo, why not in the mountains?

God I love how they came out 🥹💜 I finally got to do a picture that shows off Bradley’s tail! Gaaah, it’s the boys! Do they get married on Valentine’s Day? Is this a Spring wedding??

I just love the idea of them wearing black and silver for their tuxes, but like the opposite of each other!

I added in a couple of close up shots of their faces (look at their blush!! Aww, they’re so happy and in love!), of their labels (Bradley is wearing a red flower for Max and Max is wearing a blue one for Bradley! Also, they’re both wearing label pocket things, GU for Goof Uppercrust and UG for Uppercrust Goof!), and of their rings!! The boys designed them for each other. Bradley made sure to have lightning bolts engraved and Max was like “make it pretty”, haha.

To be honest, I threw together the background in like 10ish minutes or so. They needed something more than a blank bg. Close ups below the cut!

Mermaid Maxley for Mermay!

-Tank is a great white shark, big, scary but extremely loyal to Brad (for some reason other merfolk don't understand!)

-Bradley is a betta, Flashy, aggressive, territorial, competitive, all of his fins flare up if mad (often) very pretty but quite unpleasant unless you're in his social group and respect his authority.

-Max is a clownfish just like his father Goofy, he is trying to be taken seriously and escape the stereotype that he's a clown, a Goof, a joke! He wants to be cool and impress people with his skills, and prove he's not just a laughing stock.

The rest of the Gammas would be a variety of predatory fish, Larry the rat looking Gamma would be a sward fish, Shorty (the shortest one) would be a piranha. All of them more intimidating then Bradley, which speaks to his social prowess that he managed to get them all to respect him as just a Betta (they're low-key scared of him when he's mad, he might be small and has flat teeth but he is ruthless)

When she wouldn't eat, he had to improvise🤣

Goofy: Gawrsh! What a surprise! I thought it belonged to an horse!

Goofy: Glory-bee! Glory-bee? Glory-bee!? Glory-bee! Glorybee: Goofy! Goofy? Goofy!? Goofy!

Dell Connell will use her in strips and sunday pages throughout the 70s, and in some stories he wrote for Walt Disney Comics Digest in the same period. She has features in some S stories, brazilian ones and in one Disney Global episode of Young Donald Duck.

Without doubt the most interesting part of her arc is the beginning, when she displays great chemistry with Goofy, avoiding the tropes of the girlfriend being a source of distress for the male character and the offputting effect of having to endure Goofy quirkyness, which she, instead, willingfully embraces. Gottfredson combines this characterization with pushing acting and very inventive clothing choices. These late carreer strips reveal a dormant aspect of his artistry: the fact that he had the skills of a fashion designer, to lay out styles and grasp the trends that were happening around him. Rarely I've seen authors so keen in portraying these aspects of real life in their Disney panels.
