Offering up a brief little half smile, Calvin nodded. “I’m gonna go get dressed then, and I’m not gonna make you do any grocery shopping with me. We can go down to that little sandwich place on the corner or something, if you want?”

“Sandwiches sounds good, I’ll just wait by the kitchen for you,” Max said making her way out of the room. It was the first time she really got to get a look around Calvin’s apartment. She noticed the pictures on the table, looked like an older relative of Calvin. “She’s pretty,” she muttered.

“I’ve got leftover pizza,” Calvin offered up with a little snort of amusement. “But if you want something other than that then… yeah, we’ll have to go out. I haven’t gotten around to grocery shopping.” Or going out in general outside of work, but she had no desire to admit to that.

Although Max was good with pizza in any condition, she thought some fresh air could do them some good. “As tempting as that is, I would not mind doing some shopping with you. Got to re-think my Mario Kart strategies,” she placing the controller down and getting up.

Making a noncommittal noise that wasn’t exactly an answer as far as either Max was getting better more to tease her than anything, Calvin wedged her controller between her knees and grabbed for her energy drink. The whole distraction of Max was appreciated, even if every part of her wanted to isolate. “You wanna break for lunch?”

Just at the mention of food her stomach started to growl, she guessed the distraction and determination with the video games stopped her from remembering the only thing she had was a granola bar. “That sounds like a good idea, you got any food ‘round here or did you wanna go out?”

Calvin: excuses! i'll be bowser next time around with a nice, heavy cart.

Max: I'll continue my streak as Luigi, I know I can make a winner out of him

Calvin: excuses, excuses. i'd love to whoop your ass again.

Max: Not an excuse! A fact!

Max: I still want that rematch in Mario Kart

Calvin: fine, you?

Max: I'm okay
