Mavis!!!!!

I have been buying model trains for a little bit now. The era & location i eventually want to model would be Epoche III Netherlands, more specifically something located in the Southern Netherlands during the late 40s-early 50s. From left to right, the models in this picture are: NS 4815; a former Prussian railways G10 left behind in Amsterdam. In its Dutch service life it did nothing (as far as i am aware). It was located at De Rietlanden from 1945-1947 before going back to Germany. NS 7851; a former SBB E 3/3 sold secondhand to the Dutch railways in 1945 to help with shunting at the harbour in Rotterdam. It did this until 1948. In 1996~ an identical engine was bought by the Museum Buurtspoorweg and turned into an additional member of the Dutch Tigerlis, gaining the fictitious number NS 7853. NS 612; a former USATC Diesel bought secondhand by the NS in 1946. For most of the engines life it did shunting work aswell as the occassional goods trains, however the locomotives weren't considered reliable. By 1950, 612 was the only member of the one of 20 identical locomotives capable of operating. by 1952 this had only increased to 5 of the 20. Thus it was decided to rebuild them with better engines & renumbering them to the NS 2000s, with 612 becoming 2012. This did seemingly work, but the introduction of another 280 brand new diesel-electric locomotives (150 NS 2200s, 129 regular NS 2400s and the "Bisschop" 2530) ment that there was less and less work available for them. By 1960 they had all been withdrawn. 2 Identical engines have been bought from North America for preservation, though neither have ran so far.

My very own type 26! These were heavy freight engines originally ordered by the DRG in 1944 to help with the war effort, split between 4 different Belgian manufacturers, Tubize, Cockerill, Haine St.Pierre & Anglo-Franco-Belge. However, they weren't finished until after the liberation of Belgium, and thus went into NMBS/SNCB ownership. 10 were sold to the CFL of Luxemburg to become CFL 5601-5610 pretty early on. From what i can tell they mostly hauled mineral trains in the Ardennes until 1963, when the last were withdrawn and scrapped. 2 locomotives, both ex-PKP Ty2's, have been brought to Belgium to represent the class, Ty2-3554 becoming 26.101 and Ty2-7173 becoming 26.102. Both of these engines are unfortunately unoperational, 26.102 having recently moved to the Chemin de Fer à Vapeur des 3 Vallées and 26.101 being under restoration.
