If I had a nickel every time one of my favorite male characters was presumed dead after killing some skeleton lich guy that isn't quite death itself but calls himself death only to be saved by a convenient portal and return to his hotheaded girlfriend

Did you ever think about the fact that because Gajeel and the others are from 400 years ago, they may recognize some ancient language? Like imagine Levy trying to decipher some ancient text for hours or days only to have Gajeel come up to tell her exactly what is says.

trying to write a fic that doesn't spell everything out to the reader bc the reader isn't dumb, while also avoiding writing too vague stuff, while also giving a profound new perspective on known characters placed in my specific situation, while not trying to write too flashy, while also making sure spelling, grammar, punctuation etc works, as well as keeping the characters' dialogue in character so the reader doesn't have to force themselves through meh writing, while ALSO holding good pacing with cinematic beats and natural rythm. for a ship with, like, only 100 fics solely about them.
