Scammed for a Minecraft Cape.
I'm almost 40 and I always hold myself to a high standard of internet safety. Scams through Discord don't work on me, I don't click suspicious links etc. I grew up on the internet, people always warning me to be safe, don't be stupid.
Yesterday I fell for a scam. I saw an offer for the Crafter Cape on Twitter/X for £125, while other offers are over 300 (either in £ or €). I thought it was a good deal. Going back and forth with the seller, agreeing on Paypal, and paypal stopping the transfer of money twice. My alarm-bells went off, he told me to get gift-cards, I did. Didn't sent the gift-card codes, wanted to get the cape code first. Back and forth, send him the codes, waiting for the cape code, got nothing.
All of sudden he wants £30 more cause of conversion, I say no. Send him my paypal to get my money back, never got my money back. He's selling another cape for 100, I tell him, I want that cape for what I gave you. Says, he has to wait till he received the capes from a seller. I still have nothing. I feel really stupid. I know better. I understand people want money, but it's a stupid cape.
Please learn from my mistake. Don't use third-parties/gift cards, if direct payment is not working, stop the sale. I slept horrible after yesterday, had to take pills to control my anxiety. I just lost over €150, over a stupid Minecraft cape and a bunch of anxiety. I don't need messages how stupid I was, cause I know.
