been thinking how if the sunshot campaign never happened and they all grew up normal etc. jiang cheng would probably have no way to "escape" from getting a wife and when the time came, wei wuxian would be sooo weird about it. he would act friendly with the person while belittling jiang cheng. "aiyah are you sure you want jiang cheng as a husband? *weird laugh* he's sooo angry all the time! dont you prefer someone gentler?" or he would just completely ignore everything remotely related to it, even the person themselves. "oh who's visiting lotus pier? I dont remember that name" "you literally met them last week" "hm, then it must've been someone uninteresting. come on, jiang cheng, let's race and see who swims faster to the other side of the lake".
The real reason JC isn't married in canon is because all his potential brides keep waking up in a sweat after dreaming about the YLLZ's resentful ghost perching like a crazed bird on the end of their marital bed. Not worth it. Nope. Get me out of here.
