Itβs weird to grow up in a family where you know youβre loved but you donβt feel loved. And then later in adulthood you understand how almost impossible it seems to cross that distance and let yourself experience closeness, how otherworldly love feels now and how love feels unbearable at times. You flinch when someone tries to wholeheartedly love you. And over and over you see so clearly how you cannot be loved unless it's from afar and love is mixed with that familiar sensation of distance and coldness.

My life has several women who have questionable husbands. Six, to be exact.
I only know three women who have decent marriage and only one that I personally know and am sure they lead a healthy enough marriage because two out of their three sons have a positive enough outlook to get married.
The concept of marriage is a hell-hole institution for me, even if I were attempting to use it as a runaway path, it would be jumping from one hell to the other.
So, in conclusion, jumping to the actual hell makes the most sense because whoever sent me this karma from the past/future life, I can't fucking brain it. Not anymore.
I'm 22 and I'm already losing real motivation to live. Like, I wouldn't mind being experimented to the point where I don't even know myself because I don't really know myself at this point.
What is the most common reason you cry?
Work
School
Personal trauma
Family problems
Poor mental health
Friendship problems
Current events/news
Fiction

Multiple of these. Think of it like one of them being the cherry on top that breaks the dam.
I could be holding on okay about my family problems for a week or two and then my brain suddenly just bursts because I woke up late or some small crappy thing like that.
That's why I watch films that can make me cry so that I pretend I have a "logical" reason for my sudden bouts of crying.

OK, why the hell was I not aware of Doom Patrol until like literally 2 days ago??
I'm on episode 7 now and it's so good???
The general premise is quite familiar to any lover of superhero stuff. Basically due to some circumstances several people somehow attain unusual powers and are gathered in the huge-ass house (the energy bills must be insane) by a mysterious Chief. And then weird shit starts happening.
I think in regards to general set-up it's a bit similar to Umbrella Academy, but in smaller details and characterizations it's a completely different thing.
The characters? - They are actually good people. Flawed, yeah, definitely, some of them did pretty messed up stuff in the past, but they're constantly trying to do better, be better. Deeply human, despite their supernatural abilities. I know that complete irredeemable assholes are quite popular with the public nowadays, but for me personally I like characters that have kindness in them, someone I could actually root for, and with at least some semblance of a moral compass.
The dynamic? Great! Everyone there is with their distinct quirks and loads of trauma, somehow culminating into a messed up but highly entertaining to watch found family. Also, at least for now - no romance within the group! Yey! Praise the gods, honestly, because you've no idea how annoyed I would be otherwise (a lot of media is ruined forever by adding a completely unnecessary romance subplots imo. Hollywood can't grasp the concept of love like 99% of the time). But with the way it's going and what kind of dynamic people there have with each other, any romance between them seems highly unlikely.
Humor? Oh yes! I'm too lazy to look for specific quotes, but because the characters are so different from each other, from their personalities and experiences to time periods, their interactions and reactions to the same events are hilarious.
The meta from The Narrator aka Mr Nobody is also top tear. I quite like meta things in media in general, and it's not easy to do it well, but here it's executed just right. The interesting thing about this running commentary on the events happening is that despite the seemingly omniscient perspective it's clear that The Narrator is biased and you can't really take his every word and opinion as absolute reality.
Also, one thing that I personally appreciate - even though there is a fair amount of graphic violence and gore, it's actually manageable and not crossing the "violence just for the shock value" line. Don't get me wrong, I do enjoy some on-screen dismemberment every once in a while, but not when it starts to get gross. No way near the level of the Boys (please don't kill me, I like their memes).
Overall, this particular mix of scifi and magic, tragedy, comedy, heartfelt moments and good plot managed to resonate with my brain's wavelength. So here we go. Enjoy
My favorite flavor of absolute bonkers happening all the time
Probably because:
1) DC live action series usually fail to garner enough attention; worse, Doom Patrol is niche compared to Flash or Batman-related series (which is like ... most seriesβGotham, Pennyworth, even Titans)
2) It was DCU that holds it before HBO/Max bought them and I guess there was never much promoting either from DC itself and HBO/Max.
3) Nobody really knows Doom Patrol, the comic, unless you're a diehard DC fan. (Which makes a lot of sense that you get Umbrella Academy vibes from Doom Patrol, lol. Gerard Way did one of the runs for Doom Patrol comic in 2016.)
4) People who are obsessed with the cast but unfamiliar with DC are the ones who would bother trying to watch it. (Two and a Half Men fans would remember April Bowlby, Orange is the New Black would remember Diane Guerrero, Chuck and White Collar remember Matt Bomer, and most people already know Brendan Fraser and Timothy Dalton)
5) Some people became bored early with the episodes containing backstories of each character and just failed to enjoy the flow, thus dropping it.
6) I personally followed Doom Patrol when their season 2 had recently finished airing because I'm obsessed with Clint Mansell, the music composer for Doom Patrol along with Kevin Kiner (Star Wars Disney+ series). I love the music so much that I compiled all of the tracks from every season into one whole playlist on Spotify.
So, yeah, most people who watched Doom Patrol probably have been following someone's work (the directors, the producers, the composers, the costume designers, etc) or an actual ride-or-die DC fan.
And then of course the people who follow the genre "superhero-antihero" with wacky vibes.

why is it that everytime the rest of the Doom Patrol gang is going through some whacky, somewhat horrible but also kinda really fun(ny) shit, Larry is off somewhere else reliving his trauma, YET AGAIN
I don't know why but Larry gives the vibe of "that one friend who is always invited to everything (and people genuinely like having him around) but he always declines/doesn't show up because he's too busy self-deprecating at home"

The weather is nice today. I attempted to hang myself but I couldn't finish. Now I have red rashes from the hemp rope and a weird feeling in my throat. I suppose a long drop is better than a short drop, but I can't bring myself to do the long drop. The rope is too short. It is now slightly frayed in one end.
I want to die but I want to make it quick and not too painful.
Hemp rope is taking a while to be delivered, lmao. Hopefully 2 metres of it will be sufficient.
Couldn't bring myself to see it to the end. Now I have a damn rash on my neck, lmao.

If I'm going to fall in love like in the movies, that movie will be "Seeking a Friend for the End of the World".
It's because I know, deep down, I wouldn't be able to love someone so selflessly, so effortlessly, if it's not the end of the world.
Because I know, if I'm stuck with someone as the world starts its 48-hour countdown to apocalypse, I would just know: that person is sent by God for me, as I am sent by God for that person. Regardless of gender, I just know that I will fall in love as the world collapses around us.
And that's when I can truly, selflessly love someone without a burden in my chest, my mind, and my heart.
People who identify as straight: when you make jokes about being gay, or if someone asks if you're gay/bi and you say "I wish," why do you do that?
In good fun: that's my sense of humor
In good fun: that's my friends' sense of humor
I am straight but think it would be easier/better to date someone of my gender
I have not examined my sexuality and assume I'm straight
I'm not straight, I'm in the closet and don't feel safe coming out
Another reason
Not straight/see results
Anon is a queer person whose straight friend makes these jokes, and anon is just curious about the reasons straight (or perceived straight) people make these jokes.
