ELEANOR:
ellie lets him clink the bottle against her glass, another sigh, âcheers to much needed day off for all of us.â she grows quiet for a moment when he brings the topic of the breakup back up, though it had been her own fault for starting the conversation. âitâs fine, itâs better off this way,â another sip, âwe werenât⌠itâs not like we were even really ever together, you know? so itâs not even a big deal.â sheâs lying, of course, but how do you vent to the last person who broke your heart about the most recent person that did it? âonto the next, right? thatâs what people say?âÂ
apollo lets out a small chuckle. âyeah, iâd say we definitely all need it,â he agrees before taking another sip from the bottle. as ellie talks, he continuously holds the bottle to his lips, not paying attention to how much of the wine heâs drinking. his mind is too busy racing with thoughts of ellie with someone else, like had the other night in the bakery. why was thinking of her with someone else so difficult? finally, he pulls the bottle away from him, handing it back over to ellie. he crosses his arms over his chest, pulling his denim jacket tighter around his abdomen. âyeah, but sometimes itâs not that easy,â he replies absent-mindedly. âeven if you werenât together, it takes time to get over it. itâs still the same process as a break-up from a relationship. youâll think about the what-ifs, youâll think about the other person all the time -- until, eventually, it starts to hurt less.â at this point, apollo is rambling, the wine and whiskey mixture fully affecting him. a part of him knew that he wasnât just talking about ellie and whoever she had just ended things with. he was talking about him and ellie.
