Four times the amount of people in Afghanistan have been displaced from their homes by the Taliban in a single week compared to the people of Palestine during the May aerial assault by Israel. Both tragedies are extremely important, but please let people know about Afghanistan too.

Women are being taken away from their rights. Girls as young as 12, who likely know nothing about sex, are being raped by men as old as their fathers and becoming “war prizes”—sexual slaves as we speak. On Twitter I’ve seen other children in hospital beds sitting next to their separated limbs and babies burned from head to toe. And if you think hearing that is triggering, IMAGINE BEING THE CHILDREN WITNESSING IT.

The horror and trauma they will face after this is unrepairable. And to men that have no shame beating them and murdering their fathers while everyone in the west is completely unaware.

The Taliban are going to take over the capital of Afghanistan and will be a recognized government by China and Pakistan. Biden is refusing to talk about it though, and he’s literally on vacation right now.

These are crimes to basic human rights. Crimes that will specifically impact women and children the most. No woman is safe there. Even the US embassy is pleading the Taliban to not kill their American citizens while western journalists hide for their lives.

These women don’t have a platform to reach out and make their pleas. Ignoring these women now is a backhand to feminism. They have no education to communicate to others via internet and such. Women’s healthcare, such as birth control and other basic needs, will be nonexistent. Even just recently, the corrupt Afghan government has ruled it illegal for women to sing in public.

The progression of women’s rights in Afghanistan is literally going backwards. These women have been turned into objects of possession. Please for the love of god, if you actually stand for women’s rights, do not ignore these women.

Use the tags and put pressure on your Congress reps to save these people. Afghanistan cannot fend for themselves. 20 years of America’s efforts in this war are all being reversed in a span of two weeks.

A crowdfunder to support Afghanistan at this critical moment has been made by the Turquoise Mountain Trust Foundation just today.

According to Save the Children, 80,000 children have been displaced from their homes in the last month alone. That is near equivalent to all the people displaced in Palestine in May—and this is only the children.

Save the Children is also taking donate directly to help provide basic necessities to all the displaced families.

Human rights activist Omar Haidari has also started a Gofundme on behalf of Rashid Khan’s Foundation, Srow Zar Children, and the Afghan Cricket Association to provide direct relief and aid to afghan families.

I am not asking for anyone to donate, but I am asking for everyone to help spread awareness about this current humanitarian crisis.

Afghan people are not disposable. Please do not ignore them.

dont you think its weird. dont you think its weird that the space race last time was two of the biggest powers in the world. and now its a handful of rich men. dont you think its weird they can afford that. dont you think its bad that rich men can afford the same things as the government.

dont you think its weird that while the world is suffering and poverty is everywhere, where there's wars and climate change and human pain and homelessness. the same month I've watched people die on the news from unbearable heat and unprecedented flooding. that a rich handful of men are going to space, causing more carbon emissions. dont you think its weird that instead of putting their vast amount of money to use for good they're using it to find a way off the planet theyre destroying.

This week, a mass grave was discovered at a former Indian Residential School, in Kamloops, BC. The grave contained the bodies of 215 Indigenous children.

For people outside of North America, residential schools were places that Indigenous children were sent to, to have their language and culture stripped away from them. They were literally stolen from their families, and scattered across Canada, to ensure that they would be surrounded by children who didn't speak their language. They were given Christian names and forced to speak English. They were horrendously abused, and the survivors have been traumatized.

Hundreds of children never returned. The assumption has always been that they died. This has now been confirmed.

The school in Kamloops closed in 1978. They are now trying to identify bodies to inform family members. The last residential school closed in the 1990s. There is growing demand to search all of them, but the government hasn't responded to that, as of yet. Ottawa JUST gave in to pressure to fly the Canada flag at half mast. They weren't even going to do that.

Palestinians will tell you that one of their greatest wishes is that the world would not forget them; this is what their oppressors are aiming to do. Unfortunately the attacks in Sheikh Jarrah and Al-Aqsa mosque are just instances in decades of horrific oppression and ethnic cleansing. You can directly help Palestinians by buying from them and helping them take economic power back.
