This is the story of Leelah, unfortunately gone She was born to a body she didn’t belong In the crosshairs of society’s wrongs She found herself to be a victim of hate

The hate was from parents that believed it was sin Thought that she was a he, like the body she was in They sought council and therapy from fellow churchmen Told her to think of her eternal fate

And so this girl went for help in the arms of her friends When her family found out, it had started the end They scolded her, cut her off, branded her, then The hate was left to stew in her heart

She was crying for help, it echoed into the dark Her injuries shone but did not leave a mark Her sadness would swell, her pity was stark She took a walk just to end it

At two in the morning, her false form was found Her soul separated from the body she was bound The news rippled out to the world from her town And it spreads more even today
