Welcome Back?
Ā Ā Ā The moment she swerved away from him, he prepared himself to run after her. He was notĀ letting her go again. Not after an entire month after her disappearance of searching and the following weeks dealing with the guilt and anger and frustration of losing her again. That same frustration resurfaced, however slightly dampened as he barely caught the gleam of tears in her temporarily stunned gaze.
Ā Ā Ā And then she promptly turned back and proceeded to be cheeky. Figures. He could have left himselfĀ right then. Was he being a hypocrite? Of course. Sarcasm was his defaultĀ emotion. But reasoning wouldnāt appease the mixture of joy and resentment clashing in his chest. He kept his voice low, yet aggressive, so as not to draw attention from the neighboring residents.
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āWhā Where the fuckĀ have you been?! Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I went looking for you! BassoĀ wentĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā looking for youā I even had theĀ Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā beggars on the streetsĀ looking. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā You disappeared!Ā Again. Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā I thoughtāā
Ā Ā Ā He trails off in his albeit quietĀ tirade, and raises his hands to harshly rub his tired eyes. For the first week or two of her second evaporationĀ into thin air, he had practically rehearsed what he was going to yell at her about. Now.. he couldnāt recall a thing.Ā
Ā Ā Realising just how much effort Garrett and Basso had gone into to look for her filled Erin with a strange sensation of warmth and happiness. Why did it make her feel happy? Why did she find herself having to stop a smile involuntarily forming on her face for what seemed, to her, like a ridiculous reason?
Ā Ā It was only for a moment but Erin caught herself and returned to the poker face she wore so well. Gazing at Garrett as he struggled with his own emotions, Erin still wasnāt quite sure what to say. She still wasnāt even sure if he was angry at her or happy to see her.
Ā Ā āYou thought... ? What?ā she softly chucked to herself,Ā āThat Iād run off with a rich prince who showered me with jewels and diamonds? Maybe I did. You jealous?ā

"Of course I am. What else would I be doing with my life?" Garrett grabbed his arrows and started to inspect them. "Have you talked to Basso lately? Iām sure he has a job for you."
Ā Ā Ā "What, you think I came to see you first?" Erin scoffed and slipped out of the shadows again, walking over to Garrett and stopping near his side. With a hint of annoyance in her voice she continued, "he wouldn't give me any work until I came to see you first."Ā

Your RP Mission: Your character had too much to drink last night. They wake from their drunken stupor in the back room of an empty pub. Their shoes are missing, they are wearing clothes that aren't their own, but there is a name/information poorly written on a paper they find in their pocket. Write and open starter and see if someone can help your character find out what went on last night.
Ā Ā Ā Head pounding, palms sweating, stomach churning. Erin woke with a groan, immediately wincing and clutching her head, trying to lessen the sudden pain.
Ā Ā Ā āUgh, my head. What the fuck?" A few moments later, Erin managed to open her eyes and take a look at her surroundings. It was dark, which her sensitive eyes were thankful for. Wooden barrels and crates of food were around her, a sack of potatoes acted as her pillow.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Straightening herself up against the rocky wall, Erin looked down and felt nothing but bewilderment at the sight of someone elseās clothes covering her. They were baggy and loose, certainly not her size, or style.
Ā Ā Ā Slowly and carefully, Erin hoisted herself up from the ground, both of her hands using the damp wall to steady herself. After she felt stable enough, she felt around herself, looking for her weapons. They were gone. But in her back pocket was a note.
Ā Ā Ā Erin brought the note right up to her face, moving it forwards and backwards, squinting and blinking dozens of times trying to read the piece of paper. It was useless, she was still suffering from whatever was in her body and she would need help to figure out what happened.
Ā Ā Ā Stumbling to the door in the corner of the room, she opened it with a creak, expecting to walk into a bustling room of drunks and gamblers. But it was empty. No bartender, no patrons, no one. From the light coming through the windows, Erin guessed it mustāve been early evening, the pub should be bursting by now. Where was everyone?
Ā Ā Ā As she started slowly shuffling through the barren tavern, having to steady herself on a table now and again, Erin noticed a figure standing outside the building, near the left window. They must be waiting for her. Spurred on by the thought of this person knowing what happened, Erin pushed herself off of a nearby table and propelled herself to the door. She swung it open and stood facing the stranger, snarling with anger.
Ā Ā Ā āWhat the fuck happened to me?ā
Welcome Back?
Ā Ā Ā The assignment was a simple one. A book with certain codesĀ had been āmisplacedā, and someone sent a blackhand to get it back. The amount of times people in this city sent thieves to do their general dirty work was outstanding. He shouldnāt be accepting jobs like this anymore ā where was the challenge? He was far more capableĀ than this. Still, if he wanted to get out of The City and travel like heād been planning for a few months now, he needed every piece of gold he could get his hands on. With the Thief-Taker General still determined to string him up by his own fingers, it would take a lot of bribing coin to get past the cityās edges.
Ā Ā Ā Careful feet searched the seemingly abandoned alleyway, looking for the vent heād been told about. Apparently an easierĀ way in than to go through the back door. Nearing the end of the narrow space, he could have sworn he saw a figure just barely catching the light of the moon in a shadow overhead. As if it would be such a travesty to have someone interrupt this rivetingĀ commission of his.
Ā Ā Ā Just as he moved to crouch down to get a better look at a spot below a set of stone stairs, he heard the rather sloppyĀ landing behind him. Immediately, his right hand flew to his blackjack, ready to swing around and smack whoever it was upside theāā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āā He knew that voice.
Ā Ā Ā Turning, yet still tense, Garrett let his hand rest on the hilt of his blunt weapon as he laid eyes upon the young woman he hadnāt seen in ages.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā Ā āE..Erinā? Where.. howā?ā
Ā Ā How long had it been? 14 months? Erin had lost count. Everyday since she'd left had kind of just melded into one big mess of time. If someone asked how long it had been, she probably wouldn't even be able to give the same answer twice. She wasn't even certain she was ready to come back yet, but it was too late now. Here she was.
Ā Ā Ā When Garrett turned around and Erin saw his face again for the first time in what felt like an eternity, she caught her breath and involuntarily froze for a second. There were so many emotions running through her head at that moment and she had no idea how to process any of them.
Ā Ā Ā Her eyes started to water and Erin quickly turned away, looking to the ground and subtly clearing her throat. It was dark enough, hopefully Garrett didn't notice. It was bad enough trying to deal with all of these ridiculous emotions, having Garrett see her being weak would be too much.
Ā Ā Ā Trying her best to hide it, Erin plastered a smirk on her face, as always, and turned back to her former teacher. Her hands were gripped together behind her back, concealing the nervous shaking her body was forcing on her.
Ā Ā Ā "What's the matter Garrett, cat got your tongue?"
Death Memes -- Send me one for my muses reaction
"You can't die! Not yet..."
"I can't live without you."
"Hey-- say something!"
"This is a joke right? You aren't really dead. It isn't possible."
"You still have so much to live for."
"Keep breathing! Focus on breathing!"
"I can't do it. I can't lose you, too!"
"It's my fault that this happened to you."
"It could have been anyone... Why you?"
"You have family waiting for you to return-- why did it have to be you?"
"Why couldn't it have been me, instead?"
"It was my job to protect you. I failed you."
"You must live on. You cannot die."
"I will avenge you!"
"If only I was stronger-- I could have protected you."
"Maybe death isn't as scary as people say."
"Death is beautiful."
"I'm sorry. For being so weak."
"I'll die if it means protecting you."
"I'm afraid. But I'll do anything to protect you."
"I saved you. Now-- Shut up and make the best of it."
"I'm going to die either way. Hurry and leave!"
"Never forget me."
"You're worth dying for."
Welcome Back?
Ā Ā Ā She watched him from the safety of the dark rooftops, blending into the cloudy night-sky. With trained eyes, Erin could easily make out the black figure down below, slinking in and out of the shadows.
Ā Ā Ā Thanks to Basso, Erin was able to find Garrett was ease and show up on his latest job without causing any trouble. So far, anyway. Her mind was wrestling with thoughts of what she should do next. Should she wait until Garrett had finished the job and drop by? What would she say? How would he react? What if she joined him now? It would keep the talking to a minimum, he wouldn't be able to get too angry unless he wanted to fuck up his mission. Though the last time they did a job together it didn't end too well and the memories were still very much fresh in Erin's mind.
Ā Ā Ā Erin's thoughts were interrupted as she noticed Garrett getting closer to the area she sat above. Could he see her? Impossible. Did Basso tell Garrett she was back in town? No, he wouldn't betray her like that when she asked him not to, surely.
Ā Ā Ā "Oh fuck it," Erin whispered to herself as she clambered down the side of the building, landing behind Garrett with a dull thud. "Hey old man, you need some help?"
Open Starter;
Ā Ā Ā The air was chilly, but that was how Erin liked it. It made her more aware of herself, of her body, of everything else around her. With the temperature it was that night, Erin should've been shivering. Instead, she stood with her arms crossed and a scowl on her face, quite content with the crisp cold air.Ā
Ā Ā Ā Her head snapped to the entrance of the alley, a dark silhouette standing not too far from her. Just close enough that she could see who it was.
Ā Ā Ā "What do you want?"

In the meanwhile, feel free to send me an ask, a plot idea, a starter, anything! I would love to come back to a bunch of stuff I can reply to!

"I think of a lot of things." He reached out and took the trinket from her hands, setting it aside. He looked back down at the book heād been reading before looking at Erin again. "So what brings you here?" He straightened and crossed his arms.
Ā Ā Ā With nothing to fiddle with anymore, Erin slid off the desk and wandered around the room, disappearing and reappearing from the shadows periodically. It took a few moments before she spoke out in response.
Ā Ā Ā "Oh, you know. Just checking up on the old man, making sure you hadn't gotten yourself killed or somethin' stupid. You are still working, right?"

Garrett rolled his eyes. āHello Erin. I figured you would show up at one point. You always do.ā He let that āold manā comment slide.
Ā Ā Ā "Oh did you? So you've been thinking of me..." Erin plopped herself onto a nearby wooden desk and picked up an old-looking trinket, fiddling with it in her hands. "How sweet of you," she sarcastically remarked.
