Chrysler-head. Â The back cover of Weather Report's 1971 album, 'Mr Gone'. Weather Report's Joe Zawinul would have been 83 (!) today.
Sadly he died in 2007.
Born To Live With Heartache - Mary Love ‎(Born To Live With Heartache / There’s Someone For Me, 1971)
I've never heard this before. Dead funky.

'One hit wonder' Eddie Holman is 67 today. Â But what a hit! Â In my ignorance, I'd always presumed 'Hey There Lonely Girl' was by The Stylistics. Â Ooops. Â It will have its revenge by being lodged in my brain until next June. Â Â Â
A pinch of falsetto, an echo of 'High Hopes and some percussive 'woo woos'.
Jimmy Jones, 2 June 1937 to 2 August 2012

Little Willie John - 'Need Your Love So Bad'. His brother wrote the song and it was subsequently covered by a stunningly eclectic mix of performers, from Whitesnake to Fleetwood Mac to Irma Thomas.
I'm ashamed to say that I first came across it via Sting, in the the 1980s film 'Party Party'.
'Little' William Edward John, who died today at the depressingly young age of 30.

Ok. I know there's more glossy Grace Jones footage, but for once, I can say, 'I was there!' Â Happy birthday, Ms Jones!
