A/N: This is the start of my 9-part Dean x Reader AU drabble series for @spnchristmasbingo​. The drabbles connect together like a puzzle to reveal a fluff-filled Christmas love story built around “The Christmas Song” to fill the squares on my bingo card. I really enjoyed writing this world, and I hope it brings you some merriment to read it.

“I’m not going to hurt you. I promise.”

You plaster yourself even further into the corner, the cement walls of the crevice you’re in cold against your sweaty skin. Your limbs are still shaking, trembling, in fact, an uncontrollable reaction to the fear still coursing through your veins.

“Are you injured?”

You assess yourself without moving, but your brain can’t track anything.

His boot scrapes the ground as he repositions himself in a sitting position. The harsh sound almost makes you scream, and you shut your eyes tight.

“Sorry,” he says quietly. You can see him out of your peripherals, his jean clad legs drawn up, bare arms resting on his knees, hands clasped together. There’s a dark red splash of blood on his leg and grime coating his forearms. He runs his hands through his short hair and lets out a deep sigh, but doesn’t say anything else.

You don’t know how much time passes as he sits there with you. Both of your feet fall asleep, the pins and needles biting up your ankles, reminding you that you’re still alive. You settle onto your bottom, letting the blood flow resume its normal route. By the time he speaks again, the rigidity has left most of your muscles.

“I remember the first time I saw a werewolf attack,” he gently starts. “I was ten. Followed my dad one night. Really wish I hadn’t. I didn’t even see the action, just the blood and bodies. Scared the hell out of me.”

You feel the tears run down your cheeks as you start crying, the full reality of what just happened finally hitting you.

“It’s okay if you’re scared. But I promise that I’m not going to let anything happen to you. I’m not going anywhere.”

A sob catches in your throat, and your shoulders shake alongside it.

“What’s your name?”

“Y/N,” you manage to choke out.

“Y/N, it’s good to meet you. I’m Dean.” His hand extends into the hole you’re in, palm up. “Let’s get you out of here.”

Your body was jittering from the adrenaline and you just hoped it wouldn’t wear off until you had said what you needed. Slowly, the door opened to reveal Dean’s curious gaze.

 “Y/N, what are you-“

 “I wanted it to be you…”

 Dean didn’t know what to say. He had wanted this for so long but never thought that he would actually get it. You. Stood in front of him. Telling him that you wanted it to be him. It was unreal, and yet, he had no idea how to respond. Last night was one thing, but now you were perfectly sober and that made things so much more real.

 He could see your body start to deflate as you lost your confidence. Your eyes drooping at the disappointment of rejection, but he wasn’t rejecting you. The words were stuck in his throat as his mind told him to ‘Push her away! Push her away! She’s better off without you!’

‘Twas the night before Christmas and all through the bunker, not a creature was stirring…but only because you’d tossed the wretched wooden spoon across the kitchen. Instead, you stared disdainfully into the mixing bowl, muttering to yourself.

“Stupid, motherfucking, son of a -”

“Y/n?”

“I think you’re standing a little too close to the knife block for me to answer that honestly”

A/N: This was written for @carryonmywaywardcaptain​‘s Supernaturally Marvelous Challenge, and my prompt was Christmas Lights.

Hiding a relationship wasn’t easy, but boy was it fun, especially with Dean.

It was the ultimate adrenaline high. Stealing kisses in cloaked corners, sneaking through hallways in the middle of the night, dropping to your knees in the shower when Sam popped his head in unexpectedly. It felt dangerous and forbidden, which made every touch that much hotter. And, that’s really all it had started out as- heat. 

Your relationship had begun under the height of the summer sun, something purely physical, a way to burn off steam for the both of you, an accidental tumble into bed that had ignited into a series of passionate rendezvous. You and Dean hadn’t seen a reason to tell anybody, not when the entirety of your relationship was built off of lips, hands, and…other body parts.

But, the colder weather brought change and an altogether different kind of heat. There were fewer quickies in the Impala and more nights spent in each other’s arms. Fewer furtive glances and more lingering touches. There were nights you stayed up until the early morning just talking, trading the sex for the chance to just listen to him breathe, tracing circles on his chest as he whispered his most personal stories in your ear. The heat between you became deep, it became real, and you knew without a doubt that you were falling in love with him.

That only made it that much harder to keep your relationship a secret. Now, things were different. Now, more than anything else, you didn’t want to hide him. You wanted to show him off, to tell the world, but you couldn’t. That wasn’t what you had agreed, so you kept it a secret because that’s what Dean wanted.

At least that’s what you thought. Little did you know that Dean had something far different in mind, and his plans were already in motion.

“Where are we going, Dean?”

Dean grins at y/n from the seat beside her before training his eyes on the road again.

“Just hold your horses, princess. You’ll see soon enough.”

Y/n huffs. Surprises aren’t exactly her favorite thing and though she trusts Dean implicitly, the anxiety of not-knowing makes her grumpy.

“Oh come on, don’t be like that,” Dean implores gently. “I promise it will be worth it. We’re almost there.”

Ah, here we are again. Week 4. I should pick a consistent day to do this on. I probably won’t. It’s a surprise every time! The fact that we are on a consistent week 4 is just…a testament to how hard I’m trying. For those of you who have been around awhile, you know that’s true.

Reunited

Sam Winchester knew the taste of victory; tangy and bittersweet, and somehow a bit stale. He’d fought and won so many battles he’s lost count, and even in the darkest of times, savored the flavor on his tongue like a memory. But this was not victory. This was agony.

He’d seen Dean die many times - a fact that still perplexed him after all these years. It was always the same; excruciatingly painful to watch and powerless to stop it. But even as Dean’s last breath drained from his lungs, Sam had hope. Hope that if there was something he could do - some spell or deal or alliance - Dean could come back to life again.  But Dean hadn’t died - at least not that he could prove. It was like he vanished into thin air. Nothing Sam had encountered up to that point could have prepared him for the realization that he was well and truly alone. 

Dean was gone. 

Listen, titles don’t just write themselves. And I’m having a real hard time with words, and I cannot think of a clever thing using my name, and it’s just been a thing. It would make this much easier if I had a consistent name, I know, but like…here we are.

Seriously, though. A name. I need one. For a writer, I am having a hell of a time coming up with something clever. 

Anyway! Sorry for the delay, this past weekend, up until today, has been a whirlwind of migraines and well pump problems, and though they are still ongoing, I have found time to sit down and present to you another recommendation that I think you all will very much enjoy.  

This week, I’ve chosen someone who many of you have probably heard of, but I know with the amount of new followers I’ve gotten, you may not have. This person has an extensive master list, and honestly, It was very difficult to pick favorites. I did choose a few to link, which I will below, but do yourself a favor and hit up the whole master list. I can’t even begin to cover all of it.

I should probably quit rambling and tell you who it is, huh? 

This week’s author is….

I miss how it used to be. 

I miss how this fandom used to be. How we used to ACTUALLY be the SPNFAMILY. it’s not just a hashtag or a thing you scribble on your backpack. It was a real, live, tangible thing. A thing that meant you are NOT alone when you need someone. It meant that you could put out a call for help and there would be someone there to help you. It meant that no matter what you were going through, people cared. There was a family, a band of weirdos, a gaggle of fans ready to wrap the care blanket around you. I don’t think we have that anymore. 

Everyone’s obsessed with becoming popular or ranting about notes or this and the other thing. People seem to care more about being right and causing drama than just being a human being. Hate is so rampant now that I cringe when I get an ask notification. When someone I don’t know messages me, I think, “oh no, what did I do wrong? I’m about to get yelled at.” 

This fandom was built around a show that at the base is about Family. 

It’s about Love.

It’s about not letting the world beat you down. About lifting someone else up and getting through the darkest parts of it. Together. 

We’re not together anymore. 

I don’t know what happened but to me, the SPNFAMILY is gone, and it saddens me greatly. 

I haven’t been on tumblr very long. I’ve only been into supernatural for two years. It has helped me through some hard times and has guided me to grow and move past things. But my proudest experience that I have gained from supernatural is the small little friendships I have with people.

All these people affect my small minuscule existence for the better. There are so many more too. I came here cause I was depressed. I was trying to find something, anything to keep me going. Lucky me, I found random people from across the world, most whose names I don’t know and they spread kindness and positivity.

I’m so sorry @impala-dreamer that family looks lost to you. I understand what you mean. The world has become so focused on big issues, politics, world climate change that everyone’s mindset has become so set on making it big and bold, no one cares about family anymore. No one cares about kindness unless they get some in return. But I have to say, these people, these random marvelous people are my 100% favorite people.

If you ever feel like you are without a family, come join mine. We are all insane, crazy, intelligent, beautiful, and wild. It doesn’t matter who we are, what we believe because we love each other no matter what. I pray for my friends every single night believe it or not, and I will pray for you too.

I don’t know you but I love you. And I thank you for sharing your words and your opinions. Thank you times a million for giving me a place to randomly express my love to my favorite people. Thank you, thank you, thank you.

Flash forward to now, almost 8 years later. I left my dream college, broke up with the man I thought I’d marry, was out of my theatre job because of the pandemic, and overall just felt lost. But Supernatural was still there. The SPN Family was there.

I’ve found a family who completely loves and supports me. They support my dreams of wanting to be a lighting designer for tv, they don’t laugh at the fact that I pray to Castiel, they encourage my manifestations of getting a Jensen Ackles doppelgänger husband, they want to hear my stories, they want to know all that makes me, well, me.

I’ve found family, and I know they’ve always got my back ❤️
