Today is September 2nd which means its the 2nd day of Hydrocephalus Awareness Month. Hydrocephalus is the swelling of the brain due to excess buildup of cerebrospinal fluid. The only option to treat hydrocephalus correctly is to perform brain surgery and insert a cerebral shunt, in which this shunt will be able to drain this fluid buildup from the brain with hopes of preventing any further brain malfunctions. My surgery was performed when I was 3 days old and I have a vp shunt that I will live with in my brain for the rest of my life . As a member of the Spina Bifida Community and The Spina Bifida Association, I ask that you help me support Hydrocephalus Awareness Month by posting a picture of yourself wearing BLUE as shown in the pictures above. Blue is the color representing hydrocephalus. Hashtag #hydrocephalusawarenessmonth and me as well. I will be posting facts and information on Hydrocephalus and Spina Bifida all month long so stay tuned and thank you for your support in advance. https://www.instagram.com/p/BnOxUlnlE2K/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=wv6ujl3d29k6
