Into the Woods original Finale from 1986 pre-broadway
Personal notes
-The Narrator and the Mysterious man being played by different actors was not something I thought of before and I'm kinda glad Sondheim and Lapine changed that. No reason why tho.
-the father, stepmother, and steward not being with Florinda and Lucinda Oh my stars.
-The Giantess looks genuinely horrifying
-"What the eye doesn't see, the heart doesn't suffer" AAAAAA BAKER'S WIFE PLEASEEEEEE
-Mr. Baker why is Little Red taller than you
-Little Red telling directly to Cinderella "I think he's asking you to go back with him" because she's aware that both Cinderella and Baker don't understand shit about romance 😭
-CINDERELLA AND BAKER KISS AAAAA I LOVE THEM SO (sorry folks I just AAAAA I love them so much) though I enjoy them, I feel like they would take five years to get together. Slowass burn
-Children Will Listen is not the finale song but I believe it was mixed back in act 1 with Second Midnight, but it was later cut (obv. I'll post the original second midnight soon) Instead it's a little It Takes Two reprise
-Jack's "Excuse me" is so sassy I love him (stereotypes are harmful but FUCKIN LOOK AT HIM)
-I ADORE how one of the Witch's beans grew into a stalk at the end with the Mysterious Man pointing it out and the main four running to it and pulling it out the ground before it grew any farther ehehe
-The rest of the characters saying "I wish" instead of Cinderella to show that they no longer can wish because they're all dead AAAA
Did you know Into the Woods was basically a bet between Lapine and Sondheim
Thinking about the parallels between the Witch and Little Red.
How they both got to see the outside world before they can process anything else. How they both mention that nice is different from Good. That the Witch likely sees herself in Little Red.
Pointing at her with "broke a little vow" which they both did. When the Witch asks Little Red "when was she so squeamish" she probably saw herself in the girl.
The fact they were both prepared to be mothers in different senses because of their own mother's.(The Witch in spite while Little Red is in honor.)
Extended Second Midnight/Children Will Listen cut song
AAAAAAAAA I FUCKIN LOVE THIS VERSION I WISH THEY DIDN'T CUT IT
but I get why they had to cut it as it would be weird if the characters learnt the lesson in the middle of act 1. But still.
Reasons why I adore this version is that we get more insight on the parents and the children's perspective on each other as roles. Also that they acknowledge they ALL HAVE FATHER ISSUES THANK YOU
The Baker having doubts of being a father and his Wife reminding him this is what they want. And at the ending where she turns to the kids to show no matter how stubborn they can be, she wishes for a child and her husband turning to the parents to show that all he wanted was for at least someone there.
I so wanna make or be a part of a production that incorporates this number in some way, it’d be so awesome!

"It takes a village to raise a child-"
What if you adopt the village.
Thank @ghostfolk5 for this quote because I actually never heard of this saying
He didn’t have parents so he’s just repaying the favour to the village; the village adopted him as a child, he adopted the village as an adult.

bitches love me because i have many cheerful facts about the square of the hypotenuse
Bet YOU don’t know what is meant by mamelon and ravelin!
Did you eat? (I love you) I bought the bread you like (I love you) I noticed you were upset so I brought you tea (I love you) I made this for you (I love you) I know you have a lot of work and can't talk now so I will leave this thing you like around (I love you) I did your chores (I love you) I will sit by in case you need anything (I love you. I love you. I love you)
something absolutely lovely about especially the first half of fellowship is that the hobbits keep meeting random kind helpful strangers - the elves, bombadil, butterbur, aragorn (also farmer maggot and his wife, though they're not strangers) - until the book solidifies in you the feeling that these are not really instances of random luck, but rather the inherent nature of the world. kind people are everywhere, and no matter where you are, there is surely someone closer than you think that would offer help if you needed it. it's such a beautiful theme across all of LOTR, and it's very sweet to me that it starts from the very beginning of the journey, on such a 'small' (comparatively), everyday scale

The way that would probably have worked and solved the whole return of Sauron thing so smoothly😂
guess who finally watched cinderella's castle 🔥🔥🔥
I've said it before and I'll say it again.
If you like Harry Potter but don't want to support J.K. Rowling, WATCH A VERY POTTER MUSICAL.
AVPM is completely separate from J.K.R. and the Warner Brothers. It's a musical written by some college students in 2009. AVPM has a wonderful queer romance, great music, and is made by creators who openly support trans people. They have also made two sequels which are equally good, if not better (A Very Potter Sequel and A Very Potter Senior Year). Darren Criss stars as Harry Potter. This was before he joined Glee or became a celebrity. The group that wrote, produced, and acted in it are called Starkid, and they still make musicals to this day, posting them in full length on YouTube for free!
plus, just look at these skrinkly skrunkos :)
