bucky always gets an insanely sad look on his face whenever he is at odds with sam/sam’s anger or disappointment is directed towards him.

even if he is arguing/defending himself, he always looks really sad.

bucky genuinely cares what sam thinks and its not bc sam is cap or because bucky has an obsession with getting the approval of anyone with the shield (the joke is funny though). bucky recognizes sam as the good man and hero he is.

i feel like in bucky’s mind, sam’s approval is confirmation that he has changed and can be/do good. However, when he’s at odds with sam, it reinforces the idea that he is somehow bad/evil.

if he’s at odds with a person that is good, just,and kind, what does that say about him?

If he is at odds with someone that has shown him consistent love, concern, and safety , what does that say about him?

well that’s a theory but he’s actually their best distraction because he’s capable to talk about anything for 3 hours straight without breathing
