“I’m okay, yeah. It was terrible to be there and not be able to do anything to stop it, but we’re all back now right? Maybe it’s best to not think about it too much.”

“Pleasant Hill, yeah.” Daisy sighed softly as she looked down at the masked girl in front of her. She didn’t want to burden some kid with all of this, but Ms. Marvel had such an earnest look in her eyes that she couldn’t help herself. “It’s okay. I mean, it’s not okay. It’s very far from okay, but it is what it is. I tried to do what I could, even if it wasn’t enough.”

“Obviously.” Even with the negative emotions swirling around in her head, Daisy couldn’t help the small smile at the younger girl’s words. It was hard not to. She wanted to tack on an unfortunately, but that didn’t feel appropriate. “I’m not sure we’re gonna get much more. Eventually she’ll be cleared and probably resume her position as Director. Hill has a way of snaking around the legal system. Like most powerful figures, I guess.”

“Yup, guess I missed him too.” There was a small smile on Matt’s face as he listened to the younger girl practically stumble over him to get that fact out. It was endearing, how lighthearted she sounded. How much hope there was behind her voice still. It might have even been refreshing if not a little depressing. He’d seen the worst of the worst during his time in the suit, and running into children in similar suits twisted his gut with a strange sense of guilt. The last thing he’d intended was to be some kind of inspiration for teenagers to go out and put their lives on the line. “Oh, I don’t know about that. It seemed like kind of a one-off thing. Wait.. there was a subreddit?”

Bucky had to nod at that as he continued to stare at the purple energy coming off of the girl’s fists. He flinched back a little when she moved her hand and they inched a little too close to his face, but he was smiling faintly at her once he was out of range. “Not bad at all. I’ll have to get you Bruce’s number. If anyone can tell you more about what’s going on, it’s him. Might help to get some more advice from another source.” Again, preferably one that wasn’t seventeen.

“Are you kidding? You’re handling this way better than how I handled meeting Steve Rogers for the first time.” Coulson smirked, cringing slightly at the memory. Then he offered her a hand. “It’s nice to meet you. Phil Coulson— but you already knew that. They seem to be starting you guys younger and younger lately.”

“It’s cool alright.” Jake mused quietly, not having much of an argument there. He was long used to mystical suits and magical powers at this point, but the energy emanating off of this girl’s hands was a new one. He’d never seen anything like it. “And it’s… hard? You can hit people with them?”

“Hill’s been taken care of.” When Daisy realized how final that sounded, she raised her eyebrows and quickly backtracked. “She’s not dead, though. Just on a mandatory medical leave.”

Stephen couldn’t help the small smile he gave the younger girl as he shook his head. “Wrong? No. A little embarrassing, maybe.” He teased her a bit, although he didn’t let on that he secretly found her enthusiasm endearing. God, America was making him soft, wasn’t she?

“Uhhmm..” Peter tried to think, counting on his fingers for a moment before giving up. “It doesn’t matter. It doesn’t matter! If you think stabbing is bad I’m not even gonna bring up the other stuff that’s happened to me.”

An orange portal leading to the Sanctum dissipated behind Stephen as he turned around and faced the person in front of him. “This better be important. I don’t know if you’ve heard, but reality is still falling apart.” The bags that had plagued his eyes for the past few months were gone now, which was an improvement, but things were far from fine.

“Fine, Ms. Marvel. Lo siento.” Jake corrected himself, feeling ridiculous even saying it out loud, but he could respect wanting to keep your identity a secret. And he supposed it was good that she was starting that young, but God, she was just a kid. Kids shouldn’t have to worry about getting shot or having to fight. But then he saw the energy again and suddenly he felt like taking all of those thoughts back. He leaned in to get a closer look, his own suit slowly unraveling and fading from the air. There were bullet holes in his shirt, but the skin underneath was unscatched. “…What is that? The morada stuff.”

“Have you talked to anyone about that? Someone who could confirm it?” Who was he kidding, of course she hadn’t. If she was freaking out this much about meeting him, it wasn’t like she had the means to contact anyone who could actually do some research into the mutation. Someone that wasn’t her presumably high-school aged buddy. A catchphrase? He tried not to let his eyes visibly roll at that. This girl, as powerful as she might be, was definitely green. Not to say he didn’t need to tell someone about her and this potential proof that mutants did exist in his universe, but she was clearly inexperienced. “I’m watching.” He commented patiently, watching as purple energy slowly started to encase her, and he stumbled back when she raised a giant purple fist at him with wide eyes. “This isn’t like, a suit or something? This is all you?” It was.. impressive. He was almost eating his words.

At least she apologized, which was more than most mortals would do. Though Loki doubted her brother was anywhere near as irritating as Thor could be. “My point exactly. Siblings can be bothersome, can they not? Be grateful you have not had to deal with yours for as many centuries as I have.”

“Every neighborhood seems to have their own hero. Spider-Mans for both Queens and Brooklyn, Luke Cage for Harlem, Ms. Marvel for Jersey, it’s still something to be proud about.” He paused at the next question and shrugged a bit, feeling strange about having a teenage girl call anything he did awesome. Daredevil wasn’t exactly the highest role model to have. Not to mention his time with the Defenders was only to defeat Elektra, who was now somehow alive and well. It was all complicated. “I was, yeah. I’m not really much of a teams kind of guy, nowadays.”
