What a year 2022 has been! To say it was life-changing is a big understatement. Never in my wildest dream did I anticipate my life to be flipped 360° and forced to take a different and unfamiliar path. But it is a much-needed reality check, a reminder to care of myself much better. I'm thankful for the loving support of my family, friends and even online followers (that I've never met), before I had my surgery and until now as I go through my recovery journey. Thank you also for your likes and feedback on my online postings. I don't know how it'll be in the future, but I'm hoping for more fun stuff and travels. The Sanctuary of Truth Museum is considered to be the world's largest wooden castle. Built entirely of wood, not a single nail has been used to construct it. The structure is part temple, part museum, part workshop, part art gallery, so you will be given a hard-hat to enter. Contruction started in 1981 and is still on going. It is estimated to be completed by 2025. To see the wood carvings and architecture up close from the inside is really amazing. NGL, I was pretty stoked when I saw there was a Spa session in the itinerary. Our treatment at @divanathailand was very much needed after the long hours in the coach and many room inspections. The award-winning Divana group has 5 specialized branches around Bangkok offering treatments. We visited the Divana Nurture Spa and got to experience their Thai Boran Message, which is supposed to relieve aching muscles, reduce joint pain and various other benefits. An appreciation post. Alhamdulillah, I had the opportunity to travel again recently to one of my favorite destination, Thailand. I'm blessed to be traveling with a group of fun people, some I have traveled before with and some for the first time. We got along super well and there was not a dull moment as we zip around from one location to another. It was a working trip, but we had fun nonetheless despite the packed itinerary. My utmost thanks to @richardlim.tat & @tourismthailand for the invite. To Pinky (who is like my Thai mom now) Khàawp Khun Ka for taking good care of us all the way. Everything was arranged on-point and she made sure we had the best food everytime. I definitely came back a few kilos heavy from the trip, luggage and body weight wise. It's been 8 years since I haven't seen her, but at over 60 years old, she is as vibrant as ever. To everyone who represented @alhijrah.brunei @straitscentral_agencies @anthony_tours @freme_holidays @southerncross.bn & @seehuadailynews, it was a pleasure to be in your company, hopefully we'll have a chance to collaborate in the near future 😁 To my SocMed buddies @ranoadidas and @ozozodoes, catch you guys soon again, hopefully more travels to other destinations. The Dinosaur Valley at @nongnoochgardens_official really blew my mind to the jurrasic era and made me feel like a kid again! Everything was really well done and almost life-like. Apparently there's over 40 species and from I can, definitely more than a hundred of them. The area itself is about 500 acres and is mostly occupied by the gardens. It is considered to be one of the most beautiful garden in the region. There's really so many things to see in one day. They even have a car museum that has some of the rarest vehicles in the world. If you really want to cover it all, you can stay in one of their hotels which is in the garden itself. I'm told they have about 3000 workers, which really makes sense. We also met with the owner, a really humble guy who goes to work daily in his t-shirt and dirty boots, hug respect! The Culvert View is one of the many unique accommodations now in Kundasang. I guess it does qualify as a hotel in some ways. The thing that stands out for the @culvertview is that it's very close to Mt. Kinabalu, so when the weather is good and clear, you'll be able to snap some cool pics like did. They've also cleverly made some platforms to help you get some IG worthy shots with the breathtaking views of Kundasang, and the one unique to them is the glass mirror. Take note that the platforms are open for public from 10am to 2pm. So it's best you be out and about around that time to avoid the crowd and noise. Ticket is RM10 (Adult) & RM6 (Child). The room might not be enjoyable if you don't like small spaces. You will also need to step on your bed to access the toilet. Space is limited so it's best you keep your big luggages in the car and bring what you need only. There is a water heater but no toiletries and no air conditioning except for a standing fan. Trust me, with the cold weather at night, it is more than sufficient. Other things to take note of; - the road up is very bumpy and hilly. If you have big vans like Alphard or low vehicles, it will be quite a challenge. - Booking is also a hassle as they only accept local bank transfers to confirm your booking. - There's also no restaurant or cafe, they do have a pantry where you can find hot water, utensils and portable gas cooker. - no TV. Just a small 12" screen that has a USB stick of random collection of movies and music. Would I stay there again? I think once is enough, I'd rather try many other honestays in Kundasang. You can easily get distracted when driving in Kundasang, especially when Aki Nabalu decides to show up despite the wet weather. No matter how many times I've seen her, it never fails to amaze me. So eyes on the road ya'll. Traffic can be quite challenging in Kundasang. Expect big trucks slowing traffic down. Road conditions are also not ideal, you'll be better off in an SUV to handle the potholes and uneven road.
