It took me a while but I’m so glad finished it before the end of the year!

Here are my opening credits for CUBS (Crias) and my episode, available for a limited time.

CRIAS - Macacos Japoneses

O meu episódio chama-se os “Macacos Japoneses”. Este tipo de macacos habitam nas florestas do vale de Jigokudani. Os macaquinhos encontram nas termas um refúgio às temperaturas extremamente baixas e um local onde podem dormir de forma aconchegante e até terapêutica.

A técnica que utilizei é essencialmente de raspagem sobre vidro, animado diretamente debaixo da câmara. As cores foram adicionadas posteriormente de forma digital. O objectivo da técnica e estética do episódio é a de evocar a arte japonesa.

Muito obrigada ao Miguel Lima e à Inês Teixeira pelo apoio na animação. Queria agradecer à Xá (Alexandra Ramires )que me deu uma grande ajuda com as cores e que infelizmente não foi a tempo de ficar nos créditos E obrigada ao Miguel Fernández Fernandes pela belíssima sonoplastia.

Agradeço o convite da VIDEOLOTION para a realização deste episódio e do genérico da serie, espero que gostem e que abra horizontes do que pode ser feito no mundo da animação em Portugal.

(english) CUBS - Japanese Snow Monkeys

My episode is called the "Japanese Monkeys". This type of monkey lives in the forests of the Jigokudani Valley. The monkeys find in the thermal waters a refuge from extremely cold temperatures and a place where they can sleep comfortably and even therapeutically.

The technique I used is essentially scraping on glass, animated directly under the camera. The colours were added later digitally. The objective of the technique and aesthetics of the episode is to evoke Japanese art.

Thanks to Miguel Lima and Ines Teixeira for their support in the animation. I would like to thank Xá (Alexandra Ramires) who gave me a great help with the colours and unfortunately was not in time to make it to the credits. And thanks to Miguel Fernández for the beautiful sonoplasty.

Thank you VIDEOLOTION for the invitation for directing this episode and the opening sequence of the series, I hope you enjoy the series and it opens horizons of what can be done in the world of animation in Portugal.

“Japanese Snow Monkeys”

I had the pleasure to direct one of the episodes for un upcoming TVseries called CRIAS (pt), AU DODO (fr), CUBS (uk). This has been a portuguese/french co-production between: Videolotion, JPL Films and Films da Praça. 

In each episode we learn how different animal species go to sleep.
