I haven‘t worked on this project for 3 months now 😢 I will try to be more consistent and work on this at least half day a week. Meanwhile I think my illustration style has changed so much since I started this that I might redo some style frames. It‘s a journey!

When I moved to America I struggled with the thought that so many people carry guns around to defend themselves from other people with guns, ending up just adding to the problem and creating a cycle that is costing too many lives. So I've made this illustration for the @hundredeveryday to help raise awareness to the 100 people dying everyday from this issue.

Illustration for this weeks @herchiveproject celebrating Katsushika Ōi. She was a brilliant Japanese artist from the Edo period that learned her craft from the legend and her father Hokusai. It was very hard to find information on her because first, there is not much that can be confirmed and second, because her story and Hokusai's is so deeply connected that he is almost always the main character. My choice not to illustrate her face represents exactly that.

I read an article on Medium about how not sharing your goals with other people can lead you to succeed. I always thought I was supposed to manifest them and that's what I did... that's why I can't lose weight and it's totally unrelated with the huge amounts of bread that I eat daily! Maria Montoya Martinez (1887-1980) was a Native American Artist from San Ildefonso Pueblo in the Rio Grande Valley of New Mexico she made beautiful black-on-black pottery pieces. I illustrated her for last week @herchive project artist. Maria became in 1954 the only Indian Woman awarded with the American Institute of Architects Craftsmanship Medallion and they described her and her work in the most beautiful way possible "...the American Institute of Architects honors a daughter of a race and land whose arts were great long before the name America was known. Rediscovering techniques lost for centuries, you have raised them to new heights; still unaided by potter's wheel or closed kiln. Today is the first day of the Lisbon Creative Week. Until the 19th of May there will be conferences, workshops, markets, exhibitions and parties. Once again I got to illustrate a fascinating artist for @herchive.project . What I love about this project is that not only get to know so many artist that I didn’t before but I also feel so free to try out new styles and techniques. Last week we celebrated Sister Gertrude Morgan and I was hooked on her life story and her art.
