Jake being a bully was so overlooked both by the fandom and the story itself, I mean he was not exactly the terrifiest bully ever, per say, but he still was and with the jomies he definitely did made fun on some few people other than the music band. Then again, it IS a gacha story, the story is more digestible and light for the audience. But honestly if “The Music Freaks” were given a chance to be more sensitive and tackle other issues, I’d definitely love a meaner Jake, he’s like one of those mean guys at school when he’s with his friends but actually decent when he’s alone, sweetheart and helpful? Not quite, this man is definitely lazy 50/50 (he was not sending his slides)

It’s probably just me but he was so forgiven easily AND he forgave easily, i mean there’s definitely people out there who is understandable but TELL ME IF YOUR LIFE WAS ALMOST SENT UPSIDE DOWN BECAUSE OF A GAL BEING JEALOUS I WOULD DEFINITELY BE MAD. I don't know, but he’s the type of protagonist who has potential to be even more complex, maybe it's just me consuming too much morally grey characters but gosh he is so restricted in his medium of story.

Now personally, If i were to rewrite some aspects of The Music Freaks (this is no hate to Rosy, her story is very lovely! But i'm a huge ass bitch for complicated ass characters) the first thing I'll change is Jake being an even bigger douchebag, now maybe because i also have a thing for douchebags BUT it definitely makes the story more compelling if instead that the band lets him be quickly, HE'D HAVE TO CONVINCE HAILEY TO LET HIM JOIN, not just by singing but proving that he's actually genuine and he is not a two faced jerk who joined just for some mediocre intentions. BUT ANOTHER PROBLEM ARISES, you ask, but the band competition is in a month? So why not make it the first day of junior year and make the band competition happen in half a year instead <3

Now I do bear in mind the limit and the labour that came with making TMF so this only applies really if we have more possibility to do so. Its def me being so short of TMF content thats why id like to make the story longer.

BUT ITS JUST SO RRGHHH, I would really love to see Jake subconsciously being a jerk due to the jomies influence and how it affects him mentally and i feel like he would have more “friends”(not exactly friends friends but like you know those type of friends that feels like because you both are just so popular?) because of Drew’s connection, he's definitely so the popular charming blonde boy. So he basically has so much story plots to dive into!!!!

Oh and please show Jake’s father im starting to think that man is DEAD. Or maybe slaving himself on a 9-5...

TLDR: Make Jake more asshole-y because it has more story plot

He’s bullying Hailey and has the AUDACITY to think to himself, “ha, little does she know that I probably have more singing ability than she does”. He can’t even admit he likes singing to his best friends, but still thinks he would obviously have more talent than the leader of a music club.

In fact, he’s thinks his singing ability is so great that it will single-handedly make Daisy fall in love with him, something basically everyone else finds unrealistic, even in the high school musical-esque world of tmf.

He’s SO confident in his singing abilities (compared to everything else about him) that once he realizes Hailey can also sing very well, he immediately becomes insecure about why he was even let into the group, because he figured the only reason they let him in was because he was just that amazing of a singer.

Which is true to a degree, but I’d argue it was also his confidence. Hailey is great, but has stage fright. Sean says he does all sorts of stuff in music, meaning there’s a non-zero chance he can sing. But I doubt he’d like being the center of attention onstage either.

Jake, meanwhile, loves attention. His greatest wish is to be the center of attention in front of a bunch of adoring fans, and I’m willing to bet that’s why he eggs on every girl who has a crush on him.
