What I really like is that Lia wanted Jake back in the friend group and wanted everything to go back to normal, but she still went to Jake and confessed that she was the one who sent the audio. She fully knew he probably wouldn’t forgive her and that she could lose him as a friend, or at least lose whatever friendship they used to have. She even said they didn’t have to stay friends, so she clearly went into the conversation expecting that outcome.

In the end, she was basically choosing honesty even if it meant ending up alone. She’s only really friends with people who are also friends with Zoey, and most of them would probably choose Zoey over her if it came down to it. I like to think Lia is the kind of person you’d hang out with in a group, but not necessarily one-on-one unless it’s superficial. The only person she really has that kind of closeness with is Zoey.

And then Jake forgiving her anyway????? Like UGGHHH. Are they stupid?

I really hope in s2 they get an arc that lasts a few episodes and not have a single big action or apology that fixes things. The issue isn’t just that Lia participated, it’s that she had chances not to. The guilt proves there was a moral line there, and Lia saw it clearly enough to hesitate, but not enough to stop. She still chose the safety and approval that came with staying on Zoey’s side.

I also like the possibility that Milly noticed. Maybe there’s a split second where Lia hesitates or looks uncomfortable, and Milly briefly thinks someone is finally going to say something. But Lia stays quiet. That tiny moment of hope probably hurts more in hindsight than the cruelty itself.

Number one will always be Hailia. I’ve been shipping them for so longgg. I love what they’ve got going on being close friends, then falling out and becoming distant/enemies. The image of Lia slightly blushing while calling Hailey talented?? I eat that up every time. I love ships with tiny-ass crumbs like that because I can run wild with them. I also really like the concept that everything Hailey was going through with Jake, she’d already gone through with Lia before. (Jake really reheating Lia’s nachos.) (Hailey being hurt by the two of them “choosing” Drew and Zoey.) The saddest thing about their dynamic is that Jake gets shoved into it. GET OUT OF THE WAY, JAKE. STOP STEALING THEIR SCREEN TIME OMG OMG. /j anyways im redrawing a lot of shitty fanart I made of them in 2022 trust!!

Dadie — I’ve always shipped them. I used to make shitty Gacha comics of them 😭 They’re so cute omg. They’re attached at the hip, do NOT separate them. I really like how Sadie is a bit antisocial and really bad at showing support, and can come off as too creepy when she actually has a soft heart, and Daisy sees that. I love the way they support each other. It’s kinda sad that a lot of their canon scenes have Jake in them. JAKE AGAIN THAT’S TWO SHIPS HE’S GETTING IN THE WAY OF OMD.

Henriam — there are so many fandoms where I end up loving the two bro-type characters who are lowkey kind of codependent. They judge the shit out of each other but are besties nonetheless. I’m a sucker for it every single time. Even if they’re not canon, they’re platonic soulmates. They’re gonna buy two houses next to each other and physically cannot be more than fifty feet apart until death. I don’t make the rules, sorry.

Jean — this is a ship I’ve shipped for the longest time. (One day I’ll finish my Jean one-shot.) They’re both such big softies, and I really like how Sean always tries to see the best in Jake. (Biggest Jake apologist lmaoo.)

Zaria: I really like them. Maria has known Zoey the longest and just casually watches her do crazy shit until it actually starts affecting her, and she’s like, “oh!” I love the idea of her being there from the start and still only ever being a second thought, and yet she keeps coming back anyway. My favourite toxic yuri.

Honourable mentions of ships I like, but in the “I hope they never get together and stay in purgatory forever” way:

Drake — Jake used to have a tiny crush on Drew that he couldn’t really name, but he assumed it was because Drew was his first long term friend. Drew started heavily favouring (liking) Jake during sophomore year and never really stopped until the “Drake-up.”

Zia — but specifically in the “Lia is deep in the closet and her ‘straight’ best friend is acting gayer than she is” way. It’s toxic. They should both run. Who caresssss.

LJSM I’m not the biggest fan of them, not because they’re bad ships, contrary to that, they’re actually really cute and I like their dynamics. I just kind of lose appeal when there’s so much content for them, especially back when the fandom was super active. Personally, I don’t usually get attached to ships with loads of romantic scenes in canon. I like the “what if?” aspect of shipping more.

Anyways, I really liked Jailey up until maybe episode 7. After that I got really put off, mostly for Hailey’s sake. Jake played in her face too much 😭 At the time I genuinely thought they were going to become canon by the end of s1, so I remember thinking: they’re gonna get together after all of that???? But now that we have an extra 22 episodes of development, I’m actually really excited for it again. (But Jake Sterling is on thinnnnn ice.)

Milliote: one of my second favourite of these ships. The spin-off does such a good job fleshing both of them out, and they’re genuinely so silly and cute. I love them so much AGAHAHA.

Lander: I don’t really have many thoughts on them. They’re cute, I guess. Luke is just a little too much of a nothingburger character for me to get super invested in them in canon lmao.

Saisy: I LOVE them so much, and I hate that their ship gets overshadowed by all the Sean-liking-Daisy discourse because they’re so underrated. I really love the way Daisy’s “perfect” persona gets framed depending on the pov. Whenever we’re in Jake’s PoV, he kind of puts her on this pedestal, so even when she’s clearly overworked or stressed, it’s framed as noble and admirable instead of concerning.
