The brief was to photograph Tim at Centre Court and on Henman Hill. When I heard he played golf, I immediately thought of him putting on centre court, but when I arrived was told no-one, not even Tim Henman is allowed to walk on Centre Court before Wimbledon begins. While waiting, I took a few shots of the grass being cut, note Andy Murrays winning score still on the board.Â
The first shot of Tim was a straightforward enough image with the whole of Centre Court in the background. Then the image what became the main shot, with the repeating green seats, his expression suggesting what might have been. Tim asked me how many people did I think Centre Court holds, I looked around, Mmmm maybe 3000? Multiply that by 5 said Tim, 15,000! and not a bad seat in the house.Â
Next to Henman Hill, I know a shortcut said Tim, leading the way through the maze of walkways and tunnels. Some golf shots and a few of him sitting on the hill and job done, 20 minutes.

What a great trip. A week in LA at Oscar time, photographing Irish people working in the entertainment business. It was the busiest week ever, but very enjoyable and a lovely group of hard working people, very inspiring.
