This semester, I directed and was in the Christopher Durang comedy, Beyond Therapy! I couldn’t have done it without my fabulous producer, Abby Buchmeyer, and my wonderful SM/AD, Levin Kim. Also a special shoutout to my fantastic cast! What an experience!
3rd Place Winner at the Ypsi 24 Hour Film Shootout!
I worked on the art department for this adorable short film, The Big Leagues.

[Plug] 10 Reason Why YOU Should Go To the Interarts Showcase
I (Spencer Haney) was able to attend the Interarts Showcase and man! am I excited, fulfilled and everything in between. These kids got it! Here are ten reasons why YOU should hopscotch on over to the Interarts showcase this Thursday and Friday at the Dude Video Studio at 7pm.
1. Singer/Songwriter Music
I haven’t heard songs written with as much finesse and quality since I went to that Of Montreal show last year. The raw emotion of the performance and the wide range of song topics - from the mars rover to wrist anatomy - left me satisfied and laughing. (View of performer may be obstructed by other heads)
2. The Hot Bods
HOLY COW the hot bods are EVERYWHERE at this show! There’s your resident interarts hottie Zach Kolo (eat your heart out), the cutest dancers this side of the border presenting a new work from the esteemed Chelsea Hamm, and of course the stone cold ladies from 22nd street in your dad’s tidy whities.
3. Professionalism!
You will never find a group of artists who are as put together and organized as these ones. They are ORGANIZED!
4. Interdisciplinary Art
Don’t you HATE IT when you go to a museum and all they have are paintings!! Like Van-Nogh! am I right? This performance has exactly one painting! perfect! Not painting art includes: Spoken Word Poetry. Oh yeah, It’s gonna get real.
5. The Fourth Wall
Was there ever one? I sure couldn’t tell from this performance — I have never had such a close physical relationship with the performers of a work. They were talking freely with the audience throughout the performance, and at one point stopped the performance entirely to just talk to the sound guy about mic problems! The freedom from the traditional constraints of theater was a breath of fresh air.*
6. Have I mentioned the music?
GODDANG the music is awesome. The virtuosity of these Interarts performers is THROUGH THE ROOF!!! I heard one of them toured with the band Of Montreal.**
7. Comedy!
Man these cats are hilarious. A studying-themed circus routine and some topical standup that will push you -just- to the edge without making you feel uncomfortable about your political views.
8. The Dancing
I haven’t seen bodies get this down since that Beyonce concert I went to last year! After seeing this performance I don’t think there’ll be any “single ladies” (or guys) in the audience! I know I sure would put a ring on it. :)
9. Free Pizza
No promises
10. Ian Doing This
LOL.
So come see the Interarts Showcase for thrills that will rock your world!
Spencer Haney
*I was later informed that this performance was a dress rehearsal and that the performers will not be interacting with the audience to this degree. **No Interarts students have toured with the band Of Montreal.

Well, this weekend was something. For the 100 Year Anniversary of the Theatre department at the University of Michigan, I had the opportunity to document many of the events with my lovely friends @marisadiamond and Alison Hacker. I met some awesome alumni, saw old friends, filmed Team Starkid, and made this video for the Michigan Daily. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oz-7liPu1Bo&feature=youtu.be
Go SMTD! Go blue!
I guess I'm kinda cool now?
Check out this video @marisadiamond and I made for The Michigan Daily about 100 Years of Theatre at U of M and StarKidPotter!! Special thanks to Alison Hacker for being the best interviewer, Nicky Lang, Darren Criss and the rest of Starkids. What a great weekend!

Out of Steps is a new short film about the intense world of dance
I am making a short film, titled Out of Steps, and I could use your support! I am a scholarship college student at University of Michigan, and I cannot wait to share the wonderful world of dance with the rest of world. Please donate or just spread the word! Thanks tumblr-sphere!
Join our movement (double meaning intended)! Out of Steps is a short film written, produced, directed, and edited by Marisa Diamond.
Interarts Showcase Rehearsal
The tentative theme for the Interarts Fall Showcase this year is circus, "Queens & Clowns". Since I seem to be the resident expert in this field, I am doing some coaching/directing/choreographing. Thanks to Erica (a fellow Interarts student), there is a shot of me in action.

Last weekend, I had the amazing opportunity to direct a full (short) play, The Good, The Bad, and The Fugly, for the first time during the University of Michigan Basement Arts' 24 Hour Theatre. It was a LONG day, but we survived and put on a kick-ass show at the end of it. My beautiful cast, writers, and co-director are seen in the photos shown. Thank you to Basement Arts for hosting this fantastic event every year!
This weekend, on our annual camping trip, freshman Anna Brooks explains why she’s excited to be in the BFA Interarts Performance at the University of Michigan. A gorgeous and juicy video by Becca Kephart (Interarts junior) with music by Waylon Thornton (http://waylonthornton.tumblr.com).
