Transition
It’s been a crazy week with beginning my MFA classes and moving into my studio at PNCA and getting ready for graduation this coming Sunday. It’s crazy how life can completely change over night. Saturday I turned in my final paper for one program then went to orientation for my other program the next day. I am getting excited about the new ideas and creative energy coming from working around such an amazing cohort and can't wait to really start making. We were graced with an entertaining and informative lecture by visiting artist Claire Ashley last night and went for happy hour with her today, after which she generously agreed to a studio visit with me (despite not having signed up for the visits she held all day). I really have to just keep pinching myself.
Life in the studio
Big changes
I've been neglecting the site while working on my MA.Ed in educational leadership in postsecondary education, but big changes are happening involving my art practices. I will be getting my Masters degree in just five short weeks, but the big news is that I will be attending Pacific Northwest College of the Arts as a candidate for their MFA Low Residency in Visual Studies program beginning June 12th! That is the week before my graduation from PSU. When I finish I will have two masters programs that will hopefully push me toward my passion for working in arts higher education. It's a lot going on and I am super excited to get back to the studio. I've been spending a lot of time using my creative energy toward writing my first manuscript, and will continue to do so as I develop my artistic voice in the studio. So here we go for a wild ride!

Only took me almost a year to post pics of my thesis exhibition...
“Mechanization: or There’s Corn in That!”
Self Portrait for my portraiture project
Another sneak peek of my upcoming show.
Had to do portraits for my final photography assignment and these are a couple of my faves of my very photogenic fellow art students/friends.
My first painting ever from about 4 years ago, done in the class that led to my art minor.

It’s a beautiful day in the neighborhood...
A little teaser from my upcoming solo show ‘Mechanization: or “There’s corn in That!”’
“Daddy-O”
A micron pen drawing I did of my dad a couple years ago, not long after he passed away.
I took a photography class for non majors this term in an attempt to learn to operate my camera, mostly to take better documentation of my art. Turns out I really enjoy taking pictures as another art form. Here are a couple of my favorite “beginner” shots.

Amazing Chaotic Happenings!
I can't believe I graduate college in less than a week! More all consuming is my first solo exhibition in just 5 DAYS!!! I took an independent study with my sculpture professor and the show is a response to research I did over that time. The other part is that the exhibit is at my house where I will be starting a residential gallery project in the fall, which means a lot more prep than just studio installation. Oh well, I can sleep when I die.

Emma hiding behind the goat hide I formed for my upcoming sculpture/installation “Deconstructed Column”. It’s an homage to my favourite painting by Frida Khalo - “Broken Column”
