Shibuya Division’s trickster Yumeno Gentaro has a character difficult to grasp, and toys with people with his irregular rap. His voice actor Saito Soma will tell us everything from his philosophy in rapping, to what happens behind the scenes during secret talks regarding recording!

——What do you think about the current boom of popularity?

“Personally I have always liked rap music, but I am very surprised and thankful that there’s such a huge response. Various people I’ve ran into told me that “Your rap is pretty solid, great job”; these comments were made not as a fellow actor but as a listener, and that made me overjoyed.”

——I’ve seen you performing freestyle rap in other project’s Niconama [live stream] before, but had you ever actually been rapping other than listening to it?

“Sometimes my friends and I would gather at their place, and rap freestyle together. For the Niconama, it was probably Samatoki-sama (he meant the VA Asanuma Shintaro-san) who randomly asked me to do a freestyle as part of the show, right? (laughs) At that time I didn’t know about this project [Hypmic] yet, and to think that now I am actually rapping with Asanuma-san in the same production, I feel that it’s an amazing serendipity.”

Finally got Dear+ today!! I legit have been wanting to hear what Shingaki-san would sound like as Shizuma, and he sounds devine! 🥰 And Ono Yuki is great as Minato, so is this mini drama cd making me excited for the actual cds? Why yes, yes it is 🤭😚❤️

Anyway, track 3 from the mini drama cd was so adorkable and funny, I decided to transcribe and translate it for later reference (really, it’s to listen to them again later when the drama cds are close to being released.)

Track 3: Minato’s Tattoo

Minato: This is a moment that occurred when Shizuma-kun and I started going out openly after a whole host of things had happened. When Shizuma-kun saw the snake tattoo on my ankle, this is what he said.

Shizuma: When… did you get this?

Minato: When I was 19, probably? Some guy said he’d pay me if I let him give me a tattoo. He was weird.

Shizuma: That’s why? What the heck’s up with someone like that?

Minato: But doesn’t it suit me? I want one on my thigh or on my back next.

Shizuma: It does suit you, but getting covered head to toe in tattoos isn’t good.

Minato: What I do with my body is up to me, right? Don’t say something so boring.

Shizuma: Okay… Well, maybe I’ll get one too, one that says “Minato Love, I’m yours forever.”

Minato: That’s so lame! (inner thought)

Minato: I get it. I won’t do it. I promise I won’t go through with it, so don’t do that.

Shizuma: Hehe, good boy.

There’s another extra where Shizuma talks about how beautiful Minato’s asshole is but I’m too lazy to crop lol.

I get you. There was a lot more conflict & drama in the first 2 volumes, mostly because of the two characters working out their own issues. Shizuma had his hang-ups while Minato had to deal with a childhood trauma & insecurities arising from it. They deliberately hurt each other then tried to make up for it and opened up about their personal struggles & feelings. In Restart, Minato & Shizuma know better than to pull sh!t like they initially did because they understand one another a lot more & are not insecure about their partner’s feelings. So obviously, lesser drama. I think what sensei is going for in this volume is to finally have them live together. Shizuma always stays over at Minato’s bachelor pad but they don’t have a place of their own. A lot of readers might not know this since it wasn’t scanlated but in the Volume 2 extra, Minato asks Shizuma why he doesn’t move out of his parents house. To that, Shizuma says:

And at the end of Restart Chapter 4, he brings it up again.

Yeah, Minato is still not the most upfront when it comes to his feelings and tends to act tsun a lot of time. He’s trying to be supportive of his boyfriend & not be a needy little bitch… but he still desperately misses Shizuma during their time apart… & I kind of like it? They’re still quick to get jealous & are equally possessive about one another & that’s fun to watch lol.

Man, I’ve had it with Shinshokan’s small-ass covers. 😂

What more do I have to say? 

This was perfect in all honesty. Ever since I saw the cast, I knew that it’ll go off without a hitch. These two were born to play these roles, so good on Shinshokan for recognizing that and maximizing on it. What am I saying? I know how much they love Saitou Souma and Maeno bc of their prior work with them. 😂 I’m so excited for Saitou Souma in Love Nest! Also, I don’t think Shinshokan has messed up in the VA department yet. All them other companies better take some notes.

They spared no expense on this BLCD because not only did they get some more dialogues in, everyone you see in the manga that has a dialogue was voiced! And they all delivered! I really loved Marie and comp. And ooh! I can’t believe they got Lounsbery Arthur to voice Yuzuru! Just as I was going: “yo, this guy’s got a good voice”, I find out that it was Arthur! Damnnnn. OH AND KIYO-SAN, MY PRECIOUS BEAN, PROTECT HIM AT ALL COST!

Back to our main VAs, GOD! Saitou Souma is a chameleon, I tell you! There are some parts where I could almost hear Mafuyu, Yamamoto, and Theo, but they were so brief. More importantly, OH MY GOD?!?!?!?! HE’S SUCH A QUEEN!!! I know it’s weird to say this, but when he sucked Sei-san off in Chapter 3 page 135-139, it really sounded like he was giving a blow job in real life???!!!! WHAT KIND OF WORKSHOPS HAVE YOU BEEN GOING TO, SAITOU SOUMA?! I WANNA KNOW AND I WANNA JOIN!!! Also, let Eguchi on your secrets. I know you two are close. The level of believably he has is just out of this world, I tell you. He also did a comedic role back in XL Saizu, but while XL Saizu’s comedy was more unintended (since the characters are oblivious to it), the comedy here was more meant, so there really is a considerable difference. But that was nothing to Saitou Souma because he did Misumi’s changes in tone effortlessly! He could be screaming one second and then making you scream the next—all that without a hint of his Yamamoto, too! If anything, he sounded more like Honda-san most of the time. 😂 What a talented, talented man. I was right when I said that he was 2019′s Queen of Queens. 😌 #BLESS I really gotta thank Saitou Souma for all that he’s taught me because I got to apply them in real life. 😂 I can only dream to be this level of sluttery.

Moving on to Maeno Tomoaki—boy used his Kudo voice I died. Sei-san was already super attractive in the manga, but Maeno Tomoaki made him sex on legs!!! Although it wasn’t Yasumoto Hiroki level feels, Maeno sent me squealing into my bed, too! Mama, I want to be spoiled by this handsome man, too. 😭😭😭 I missed him so much. It’s been a while since I’ve listened to him in a BLCD (Escape Journey’s looks like it’s escaping to nowhere). AND OH MY GOD, OKITSU’S COMING IN NEXT!!! Lord, I want them to have at least one more pairing before I die. I feel like Shinshokan was just looking for an excuse to pair these two up because I don’t think they have yet. 😂 But despite that, their chemistry was off the charts! When I say I want shteamy mattress mambos, this is what I meant! 🔥🔥🔥

But I’m not gonna lie, though I was hyped up about this ever since it was announced, that dissipated with time (this is true with Kanawanu, too). I think I’d still feel the same even if I listened to this earlier. Idk. For me, the BLCD and the manga just dragged on a little bit too long for my liking considering that it wasn’t even that dramatic (the BLCD has two disks btw). But I guess this is all down to personal preference.
