STROKE: Remember The 1st Three Letters… S.T..R … My friend sent this to me and encouraged me to post it and spread the word. I agree. If everyone can remember something this simple, we could save some folks. STROKE IDENTIFICATION: During a party, a friend stumbled and took a little fall - she assured everyone that she was fine and just tripped over a brick because of her new shoes. (they offered to call ambulance) They got her cleaned up and got her a new plate of food - while she appeared a bit shaken up, Ingrid went about enjoying herself the rest of the evening. Ingrid’s husband called later telling everyone that his wife had been taken to the hospital - (at 6:00pm , Ingrid passed away.) She had suffered a stroke at the party . Had they known how to identify the signs of a stroke, perhaps Ingrid would be with us today. Some don’t die. They end up in a helpless, hopeless condition instead. It only takes a minute to read this… STROKE IDENTIFICATION: A neurologist says that if he can get to a stroke victim within 3 hours he can totally reverse the effects of a stroke…totally. He said the trick was getting a stroke recognized, diagnosed, and then getting the patient medically cared for within 3 hours, which is tough. RECOGNIZING A STROKE Remember the ‘3’ steps, STR . Read and Learn! Sometimes symptoms of a stroke are difficult to identify. Unfortunately, the lack of awareness spells disaster. The stroke victim may suffer severe brain damage when people nearby fail to recognize the symptoms of a stroke. Now doctors say a bystander can recognize a stroke by asking three simple questions : S * Ask the individual to SMILE .. T * = TALK. Ask the person to SPEAK A SIMPLE SENTENCE (Coherently) (eg ‘It is sunny out today’). R * Ask him or her to RAISE BOTH ARMS . If he or she has trouble with ANY ONE of these tasks, call the ambulance and describe the symptoms to the dispatcher. NOTE : Another ‘sign’ of a stroke is 1. Ask the person to ‘stick’ out their tongue. 2. If the tongue is ‘crooked’, if it goes to one side or the other that is also an indication of a stroke. A prominent cardiologist says if everyone who gets this e-mail sends it to 10 people; you can bet that at least one life will be saved. And it could be your own.
First reblog post that actually saves a life.
This is a life-saving post.
the more you know
yeah don’t think that this can’t happen to you or someone you know if they’re young. my cousin’s wife is 33 and she had a stroke last year
I’ve had a stroke. It happens to people, and the more you know about this kind of stuff, the better.Because it could be important to know.
LIVE SAVING. WOOOAHH. REBLOG REBLOG REBLOG REBLOG REBLOG
Had a family member almost die of one, so signal boosting because you never know when you could save a life.
Because I feel bad if I don’t reblog…
My mother died after being paralyzed by a stroke. Please read this^
I remember a while ago here in UK there were stroke-identifying adverts. Their catchphrase was FAST:
F- Face: is their face fallen on one side?
A- Arms: can they raise both their arms up and hold them there?
S- Speech: is their speech slurred? Can they speak a full sentence?
T- Time: if all the signs show a stroke, call 999.
We managed to save my nana with this information when she had her first stroke.
Susanna’s French Verb Masterpost!
Hello! I’ve been inundated recently with messages from lovely studyblrs asking me to post the verbs from my French verb wall - so voilá! I’m really sorry for the delay, I’ve been meaning to get around to it for ages, but what with oral exams, art projects, geography projects, graduation planning and general Head Girl stuff it’s been hectic.
I hope these help a few of you out, I know from experience how difficult it is to find a concise collection of all the French verbs (or certainly those necessary for the Leaving Cert/similar exams). I love having these stuck up on my wall beside my desk, they make French homework an absolute doddle. And by the way, my mum is a French teacher, so you can rest assured that this isn’t a load of ol’ inaccurate baloney!
Hope you all have a splendid day!
Lymph Nodes
Lymph nodes are organs with a collagenous capsule, which are frequently found within adipose tissue.
They are strategically placed along the lymphatic network. Here they can trap foreign material (antigens), which are presented to the lymphocytes by antigen-presenting cells, to initiate an immune response.
The cortex contains primary lymphoid follicles and secondary follicles, which contain densely packed lymphocytes. They have a distinct mantle zone and a paler-staining germinal centre.
The tissue is organised both to facilitate the interactions needed to generate an immune response against the antigen, and to promote rapid division of the responding lymphocytes.
Nodes vary in size (from a few millimetres to 1–2 cm)
Distributed in different areas of the body.
Linked in chains by lymphatic ducts, so that fluid flowing out of one lymph node via the efferent lymphatic vessel becomes the inflow to the next in line, via the afferent lymphatics.
Fluid = lymph, derived from the tissue that carries cells and foreign material to the lymph nodes.
Lymph returns to the bloodstream via one of the body’s two major lymphatic ducts.
Can be considered guard posts that are strategically placed to intercept any infectious agent that enters an area of the body.
So, for example, the lymph nodes in the axilla of the arm (the armpit) will intercept infections which enter that part of the body.
Lymphocytes located in the local lymph nodes are responsible for the initial recognition of the infection and the development of the immune response.
Once the immune response has developed, cells will migrate out from the lymph node into the blood
move to the site of infection to combat the pathogen there.
Lymph nodes have a well defined structure with different sub-regions.
Antigens and cells enter the node through afferent lymphatics
cells and fluid leave through the efferent lymphatic.
Cells (lymphocytes) can also enter the node from the blood by migrating across the specialised high endothelial venules.
Within the node, cells distribute themselves to distinct zones.
B cells proliferate and develop within the follicles of the cortex,
T cells are primarily located in the paracortex.
The capsule, medullary cords and hilus are fixed structural elements of the tissue.
Neurotransmitters are chemicals that help in transmitting signals across a synapse. Different neurotransmitters are associated with different functions. Knowledge about these helps us to treat various neurological conditions by either stimulating or inhibiting these production. #neurology #neuroscience #psychiatry #medicine #medstudynotes #medschool #mbbs #unimed #brain #nervoussystem #physiology #medblog #medblr #medstudent https://www.instagram.com/p/BrM4ocsBqJe/?utm_source=ig_tumblr_share&igshid=12tojib83c32d

20 important study skills/tips i’ve learned from my professors
1. start studying a week before every quiz/test. seriously.
2. watch youtube videos/ted talks on the topics you are learning about.
3. get lots of sleep! sleep helps you process the day’s events, including what you learned.
4. write out your notes. it’s proven that handwritten notes help you learn better than typed out notes.
5. don’t just read what your professor gives you. find academic journals, books, etc. that correspond with your subjects.
6. read the news! especially in the social sciences/humanities, connecting concepts with current events helps you understand and process more easily.
7. exercise! this doesn’t have to be going on runs or lifting weights, it could even just be going for a 20 minute walk. just get your blood pumping, it’ll help you focus.
8. study at your desk. it may be tempting to study in bed, but your brain connects your bed with sleep, so you’ll get tired more quickly.
9. reviewing notes doesn’t have to be something you sit down and do for an hour. skim through them and test your memory while eating breakfast!
10. expand your study time throughout the day to avoid burnout. for example, rather than studying for 5 hours straight, study for an hour here and there in between your activities.
11. make your notes organized and easy to read, but not distracting. bright colors and flashy notes may seem better, but can sometimes distract from the purpose of the notes.
12. use apps such as quizlet. this way, you can go through definitions while waiting in lines or walking to class.
13. it’s more important to know concepts rather than facts. for example, you should be able to take what you know and apply it to different situations, not just the situation the textbook gives you.
14. just because the professor doesn’t require you to read textbook, doesn’t mean you shouldn’t. it helps explain concepts in a different way than your professor, and a lot of times hearing two different explanations for the same concept helps you understand it.
15. read in advance. read the textbook before your professor begins going over the chapter, so when he/she does, you can easily follow what they are saying.
16. do any extra credit work that comes your way. even if you don’t need the extra boost now, you might later.
17. go to class!! if you always skip class and show up at office hours completely lost on the concepts, they’ll laugh in your face. they’ll take you 100x more seriously if you show up.
18. however, if you are sick, take a day off. it’s more beneficial to you in the long run.
19. learn how to say “no”. if you have an 8 am the next day, don’t stay out until midnight with your friends.
20. don’t stress too hard over quizzes. if you expect them to go horribly, they will. you got this.
Heart attacks symptoms are different for women. I recently learned this.
Everyone should know these things.
thanks to mainstream media and being unable to show breasts on TV, way too few people know about female signs of cardiac distress, and impending heart attacks. they only know about the “pain in the left arm” male symptom.
i had all these symptoms once and they sent me right to hospital
it was scary bc i didnt know these were the symptoms for female heart issues
Please, please, PLEASE, reblog this. i don’t know if I did save or called false alarm, with my boss’ life tonight. I felt I was being a bit paranoid, overreacting, but I told Mirage my thoughts and he, after reading over the article I showed him, immediately sprung into action and then shooed her off to the hospital. I don’t know if I did or not, but I knew she’d been super stressed. She’d off-handedly commented on her arm tingling and I asked her if she felt queasy on a hunch. I went to look at the symptoms and we went from there.
Holy shit, I didn’t even think the symptoms would be different between men and women. This is so hugely important and I don’t understand why we aren’t taught this.
One of the other symptoms that doesn’t get talked about , especially in women, is a “feeling of impending doom”. I am not even kidding, that is a legitimate diagnostic criteria. Please - if you are feeling any of these symptoms and a sudden onset of “Holy shit the world is ending” do not let anyone tell you it’s “just nerves” or “just heartburn” or something.
Keep these in mind ESPECIALLY IF YOU’VE GOT HEART DISEASE IN YOUR FAMILY! So many more women die from heart attacks than because they don’t recognize the symptoms when they’re so different. Please stay safe and stay informed.
The tricky thing is that panick attacks can feel like this as well :/ However, you should know the symptoms, especially if you usually don’t suffer from panick attacks.
When she sings, she sings “Come home”.
~•~
I stormsvarte fjell, jeg vandrer alene
Over isbreen tar jeg meg frem
I eplehagen står møyen den vene
og synger “Når kommer du hjem?”
Men traner danser og fossene stanser
når hun synger, hun synger “Kom hjem”
Men traner danser og fossene stanser
When she sings, she sings “Come home”
When she sings, she sings “Come home”
~•~
In storm-black mountains, I wander alone
Over the glacier I make my way
In the apple garden stands the maiden fair
and sings, “When will you come home?”
But cranes dance and the waterfalls stop
When she sings, she sings “Come home”
But cranes dance and the waterfalls stop
When she sings, she sings “Come home”
When she sings, she sings “Come home”

an ultimate guide to crafting your daily schedule 👀✨
‘Ello, mate! It’s werelivingarts and I’m here with a simple guide to manage your time and prioritize your tasks with only 3 steps ~
Before planning anything, For me (you guys might have different approach), I find recognizing my energy level pattern really helpful because I can prioritize tasks and get the done in my most productive time rather than forcing myself to cram for homework after midnight. 🌚🌝
I start planning my day by dumping all of the tasks I remember down to to-do list using Bear, and then I would organize these tasks if they are daily, weekly or monthly task on Edison app – which also allows time blocking. After that, I would prioritize tasks daily on app Success. (This is not ad, this is just helpful apps that I use). 😎
Hope you find this helpful in some ways! Thank you for reading! ❤️💜💙
THIS is the bear cave painting i was talking about, the line weight, the proportions, the fine details around the face, and the fact that this all had to be drawn from memory, idk man, it’s incredible to me. if i could meet one person from history it’d be the person that painted this bear 30,000 years ago
Hello,
Do you have any list of female painters from Latin American countries?
