I hate sitting smaller seats because I fear they might break under my weight. The creaking under my weight always makes me anxious. So when the larger seat is taken up by a skinnier person I don’t like to cause a scene so I sit the smaller chair. Even though I am cussing out the skinnier person out in my head.

Luckily my doctors office is in a medical building that’s pretty high tech so even the small chairs are durable, just uncomfortable. I just wish there were more larger chairs-and I wish they had signs near them asking for consideration for larger bodied patients

No one cares cause fat is seen as just an inconvenience. I’m not looking for extra special attention just consideration that’s all. I swear you must have been at the Dr.s with me the other day while I was waiting for my love to get her check up. I hate feeling like I’m just making life rough for every one else. My side rolls take up the arms rest so I lean over to one side extra hard. I don’t sit in booth casue my gut sits on the table thats only if the resturant has the table bolted to the ground I feel saved when they have a moveable table ya know waht I mean @fatgirlopinions

I did offer an opinion (that if you are regularly breaking adult chairs, you may benefit from some introspection), and I never said anything close to what you claimed I did - your victim complex (wrongly) inferred that.

I am aware that this will likely fall on deaf ears, but I’ll try anyways. It’s awful if people taunt you or say mean things about your weight. Fuck that. But we all make choices about the way we live our lives, and it is unreasonable to expect communal resources to be tailored specifically to every outlier case.

I used to be a smoker. I realized after a year or two that this was really unhealthy and was making living my life a lot harder (no smoking rooms, no smoking in bars, people did not like the way I smelled, etc.) So I quit. It was really hard, and I failed a few times before I succeeded. But I’m so happy I did.

At no point did I complain or whine about how society was shaming me, because I realized that I had made a life choice and that came with its own set of challenges. Anywho, I’m sure you stopped reading at this point, but to make it clear: if you are happy being obese - great! Just be aware that norms exist for a reason, and that reason usually isn't to needlessly shame people.

We would not shut up about gender. I try my hardest not to project my own issues and agenda onto groups that I’m not a part of, especially those who are just trying to live their lives in a way that makes them happiest.

The idea that anyone would transition their gender in Western society to “take their fetish public” or as an excuse to have sex with men without the stigma of homosexuality is absurd. Patently absurd. I am not trans, but I have seen how society treats trans people, and why you would think anyone would wish that kind of treatment upon themselves is totally beyond me.

Your opinion reminds me of conservatives in the 70′s, 80′s and 90′s saying that gay people weren’t really gay, but that it was their attempt to be “quirky and different” or to “fit in” with outsider groups. Which, given how the LGBT community was treated in the 70′s, 80′s, and 90′s, is equally absurd.

I guess my main point is, don’t question the right of anyone to live their life in a way that makes them happy (so long as they don’t hurt other people). Who the hell are you to tell someone their desires are illegitimate? What do you stand to gain from it? Genuinely asking.

This is simply untrue.

For starters, the largest magazine corporation in the world (Conde Nast) is famously helmed by Anna Wintour (a woman). Most of the magazines under her helm, especially the ones dealing with women’s beauty and the like, also have women running them (Amy Astley at Teen Vogue, Michelle Lee at Allure, Cindi Lieve at Glamour, etc). These are the publications that lead the beauty trends in our country, and they are almost exclusively run by women.

While I agree that beauty standards and their messaging may need to be calmly addressed in Western society, promoting false statistics to shift the blame exclusively onto men is intellectually dishonest and counterproductive.
