Larger bodied people often encounter reminders that their bodies are the āwrongā size, and that thereās something wrong with them. Lots of minor discomforts, and a few major discomforts, add up over the course of the day. It can make people feel like they donāt fit in, donāt belong, in this world that was not built to accommodate them.
Making the world accessible to people of all body sizes is important to me. Comfort is important, but thatās not the only thing. Itās not just about safety either (which is also incredibly important). This is about inclusion and about making sure that everyone feels like there is space for them in this world. As advocates for body liberation, as so many of us are, we must continue to center the experiences of those who face significant systemic barriers to just EXISTING in their bodies.
