You narrowly escaped. You had a few scratches and bruises, but nothing too severe, thanks to Lorna’s quick thinking. The two of you had gone out to try to find a troubled mutant, but found trouble instead.
The first thing you did when you got back was seek out your boyfriends. They always gave you a smile after a rough day. You found John first, talking to Shatter and facing away from you. You smirked and ran quietly up to him, jumping and latching yourself onto his back. You knew it wouldn’t even phase him. He probably heard you coming.
“Welcome back, Y/N!” he greeted, placing his hand on your arm since that was easiest for him to reach. “How did it go?”
“Not great, but we made it back in one piece, so that’s always good,” you replied, letting yourself slide off of his back. Once he was free, John turned around to face you, his amused smirk fading into a concerned frown when he saw you.
“You’re hurt,” he stated, running his thumb on your cheek where a drop of blood started to fall from a cut.
“It’s nothing,” you said, waving him off.
“You always say that,” John stated with a shake of the head.
You spotted your other boyfriend walking by, having not noticed you. “Hey, Marcos!” you called, catching his attention. “Tell John he doesn’t have to worry about every scrape and bruise I get.”
Marcos walked over with a smile, happy to see you. However, with your comment, his smile fell slightly and he looked at John. “She’s right, you don’t have to worry about every scrape. Because I will,” he told the other mutant, before looking over you with a critical gaze. “Any other scratches besides your cheek there?”
You let out an exasperated sigh. This backfired. “No, no, I’m fine, really!” you insisted.
“Good,” Marcos said with a nod, pulling you in for a brief hug.
“We just worry because we don’t want anything to happen to you,” John stated, brushing back some of your hair. “Can never be too careful around here.”
