Romano/Canada needs to be more of a thing beCAUSE JFC THEY ARE SO ADORABLE. TAKE A LOOK AT THESE BBIES
Canada’s calm and quiet; he would never say a bad word about Romano
Romano would be so damn calmed by Canada’s quiet nature; he wouldn’t even be able to be angry with him
CANADA WOULD FRICKIN’ DWARF ROMANO LIKE JFC
Romano’s so very damn stubborn and Canada’s polite enough to let him do his thing - but because Romano’s also A GODDAMN SWEETHEART he would make sure Canada was okay with it
They’d never say “I love you”; they’d just KNOW it
They’re both awkward bbies who would communicate with hugs and shy kisses
Romano WOULD BE SO FRICKING COMFORTABLE around Canada that he’d ACTUALLY BE AFFECTIONATE BECAUSE WOAH ITALIANS ARE ROMANTICS DUDE
They’re BOTH overshadowed by their brothers and forgotten - tho for different reasons but still
They BOTH have to put up with annoying siblings and have a history of sibling rivalry with said people (love those bbies tho)
Romano woULD ACTUALLY BE REALLY REALLY DAMN CAREFUL NOT TO HURT CANADA BECAUSE WOAH GUY IS SO DAMN KIND AND SWEET TO HIM
Let’s be honest; they both have self esteem issues probs
THEY COULD TOTES TALK ABOUT FASHION AND ROMANO COULD DRESS HIM UP IN ITALIAN CLOTHING AND GO “HOT DAMN U ONE FINE PIECE OF ASS”
Romano wouldn’t be used to Canada’s climate so intIATE FUCKING CUDDLE TIMES BY THE FIRE BECAUSE COLD ITALIAN IS FUCKIN’ COLD
CANADA COULD COOK BREAKFAST WHILE ROMANO COOKS DINNER FUCK YE
I COULD GO ON AND ON ABOUT THESE BABIES. JFC. [/flips a table and foams at the mouth] THE FUCKIN’ ROMADA IS COMIN’ BITCH
do canadians feed by biting onto trees and sucking the maple syrup from it like a vampire

The last thing Willem had expected to find when he went on his nightly hunt was a human. Humans didn’t venture out into the woods at night; they’d all heard the stories. Wolf men who abducted humans and ate them. Savage creatures, completely mindless and destructive. So what was THIS girl doing here?
The large silver-white wolf stared at the girl. What were her intentions? Was she one of them, a hunter? He didn’t smell the familiar scent of blood mingled in with her scent; in fact, her scent was so deliciously tantalizing that he was struggling to not pounce on her right then and there. No, he didn’t want to eat her, but that scent… Oh god, it was like catnip to a cat. He was silent, but she noticed him anyways; granted, in the moonlight, his fur shone like a moonbeam, so her seeing him was not surprising.
He slowly made his way towards her, ears flicking as he stayed aware of his surroundings. If she was a hunter, she wouldn’t be alone, and he’d hear her friends. It was hard to sneak up on him. As he moved closer, she began to move back, and was speaking to him. She was no hunter; she was a frightened little girl. He let out a huff at her words, his ears flicking back in response to the word cat. What annoying creatures.
She kept talking, and he slowly kept moving forward. What a curious creature. She was cute, and so young… didn’t she know better? When she continued backing up, he took a seat, his tail thumping lazily on the ground. He wasn’t going to attack her, and he wanted her to be aware of that. She really didn’t pick up on that though, and when she moved back into a spiderweb and shrieked, he flinched a bit.
She freaked out as she got the spider web out of her hair, and he couldn’t help but laugh at her. It was a strange sound, a mix between a half bark and a snort, but the laughing stopped immediately when his eyes connected with something that changed his world completely.
Was that a scar? His scar?
He didn’t think; in the long run, he PROBABLY should have, but his body reacted on instinct. He moved from a sitting position to a leaping one in a matter of moments, and he was on the girl. He tried to land as gently as possible, but it was hard to do that when you were the size of a small car. Sharp green eyes stared down at her, down at the line on her forehead. They searched her expression. This was his soul mate? No way. She was barely old enough to be legal (was she even legal? He wasn’t entirely sure!). He continued to stare at her; he knew she’d soon get over the initial shock of being pinned down by a giant wolf, but he was going to memorize her face.
Maddie didn't realize the wolf was shifting into a jump until he was already in the air and it was far too late. The impact of a giant wolf, while hardly the crash she would've expected, was enough to knock the Canadian onto her ass. Luckily she didn't land on any roots or anything, so it didn't hurt her. Still, it wasn't exactly pleasant to be jumped by a wolf twice her size. The Canadian threw her arms in front of herself on instinct and stared at the wolf for a second like she was waiting for it to attack.
The Canadian was honestly surprised when the giant wolf didn't do anything else besides the staring. The eyes looked smarter than they should have, more human, (and a part of her mind wondered if wolves even normally had green eyes) but no amount of watching Disney movies as a kid made Madeline think she should try communing with the wild creature. She knew wolves wouldn't normally want to get near a human at all unless they were rabid or habituated. In a case like that, the only real response would be to fight the wolf, making herself more trouble than she was worth.
And that's how Madeline ended up socking her soul mate in the face. It wasn't really all that hard, especially considering how big the creature was, but certainly enough that he would feel it. The blonde scrambled to her feet and hopped away a few steps before forcing herself to slow down enough that a wolf wouldn't want to chase her. With legs as long a his, Willem would easily catch up to even a full sprint in no time flat.

Ivan looked surprised at the request. Come along? It wasn’t uncommon for women in his land to embark on dangerous missions or adventures but this was a Royal from Britannia he was talking to. Could she take care of herself out there, even with him and his men being there to protect her? Could he ask them to protect her just so she could tag along with the mission? Would she impede their progress?
"I am not thinking you will be doing stupid things," at least not on purpose… "for I am sure you are very smart, but I am sure you can be understanding why I would be… hesitating to let you come? Its will be dangerous, even if its is summer…" Ivan found himself almost wanting her to go with them, but he was also worried that she’d get hurt. "Are you knowing how to fight? You are not going to have to fight dragon, but its would be good if you were knowing how to defend yourself maybe?"
That wasn't a no, which meant there might still be a chance. Pressing her lips together like it would hold her excitement in, Madeline nodded emphatically. "I wouldn't try to take on a dragon by myself, but I can defend myself from something smaller than that." Back in Britannia, it was required that royalty learn sword-fighting. Part of it was traditional, since the ruling class had evolved from knights, but self-defense remained an important skill, just in case.
She knew most people would still assume she was helpless, so she added "I'll care for my own horse. Anything the men will be doing, I promise I can too." The blonde rocked back on her heels with 'please' written across her face in all caps.

"Not my fault that jerk thinks he has a right to control somebody else." he huffed. "What do we need to go check out then?"
"You’re right, the guy probably needs his attitude realigned in the most violent way possible… but we don’t need him calling the cops on us." She ran a hand through her bangs with a sigh. "So, we need to check out the original batch of murders."
I thought u said there's nothing to find at the other lot… or do you mean the ones still in the basement” he made a reluctant face
Madeline pulled a face like she had eaten something sour. "If we could just avoid that basement entirely, that would be great. I was figuring that the case has been cold for so long that we could flip through the police files for details the papers didn't cover. The usual "history project" story, eh?"
"What do you mean? What do you think happened?"
"I have no idea, he just doesn't do that well on his own." He shrugged. "He doesn't let that happen." He sighed and shifted uncomfortably.
Madeline noticed Matt's uncomfortable shifting and her lips pursed. "What are you not telling me?"

Maddie should've known better than to wander the forest late at night, but she had been stalling on returning to the pile of homework waiting on her desk and hadn't bothered heading home until the evening started bringing mosquitoes. She was getting near her home on the edge of town when she saw a wolf moving between the trees ahead of her. That would normally be a reason to pause-- wolves aren't exactly huge on being near humans-- but more notably, this wolf was huge. Standing on all fours, it's head was about even with the girl, who was scraping 5'9.
Maddie had spent a lot of time in the woods, so knowing how to deal with the animals was an important piece of making it to 17. With wolves, the best idea would be to make noise and back away slowly-- running would evoke a chase instinct. Admittedly, the blonde wasn't sure if the same thing would apply to this creature, which was so much bigger that it seemed like a different species.
"Oh, uh, hi there." Maddie said aloud as she backed away from the monster. She knew she was supposed to make noise and English seemed like just a good idea as any. "I'll leave you be, sorry. Just have to get home and feed my cat." The blonde's eyes were fixed on the creature as she carefully stepped behind herself, trying to not be that idiot who tripped over a root or something.
"If I leave Wickenheiser alone too long, she'll cau-- calisse!" Maddie's monologue cut off with a swear as she suffered one of the worst fates a human could experience: walking into a spiderweb. Walking backwards, it had hit the back of her head first and the Canadian hopped forward, combing hands through her hair to try and get the webbing out. The motion pushed her bangs away from her forehead, showing a vertical blue scar over one eyebrow.
Her gaze flicked up to the wolf again, praying the sudden jump scare hadn't put her on the prey list.

Ivan paused in thought, tapping his chin with a gloved hand. “Hmm… Nyet, probably not. Unless they are already knowing how to with instincts. I am doubting anybody ever taught him how to be doing this thing.” The Novgorodian wanted to tell Maddie to be careful, but he was pretty sure despite her rather frail appearance she could take care of herself. Besides, its not like he had never been tempted to reach through the bars and touch the beast. He just held onto one of the bars as he watched the Grand Duchess as she touched the dragon as though it were some domestic pet. Ivan found himself actually impressed with her, nobody from his kingdom that he had ever met would have attempted to do such a thing, whether out of fear or just because seeing the beast in such a way seemed like a preposterous idea.
The Novgorodian prince jumped at the intrusion, quickly standing up to both greet the messenger and ask what he was bothering them for. Ivan was surprised to hear that he had been summoned to the throne room; what could his father possible want from him?
He was even more surprised to hear his father order him to gather a party and kill the dragon. It wasn't that it was highly unusual for Ivan to personally go on missions to help his kingdom, but the timing seemed a little strange. Especially because Ivan knew of a group of warriors who would be able to take down the dragon without him. “Alright, Your Majesty, I will gather warriors and go at daybreak tomorr-“
"No, I have already picked your escorts. You will leave as soon as you have eaten and have prepared, the congratulatory feast for Grand Duchess Madeline of Canadia will have to wait." King Zima replied sternly. Now this really surprised Ivan, he had never not been able to pick his own men before. But the King had ordered it, so it had to be done.
"Yes, Your Majesty. It will be done." Ivan bowed slightly, his hand over the scabbard on his hip.
As the two walked out of the room, Ivan let out a light sigh as he picked up his sword from one of the guards. “I am sorry, but its looks like getting to know you will have to be waiting…”
Madeline wasn't at all upset about putting off the feast. Having to deal with the mass of people, the language barrier and being scrutinized as the future monarch? So far off the list of things she wanted to do. Death by dragon seemed preferable. It also sounded better than staying in an unfamiliar castle full of people who spoke a different language.
On the other hand, the chance to see around the countryside seemed too tempting to pass over. Summer wouldn't last long in Novgorod and the blonde doubted she would be allowed to wander around at another time. Plus it would be more of a chance to get to know Ivan, so hopefully they good be more than strangers by the time the two of them got married. She didn't really want to be a part of the killing, but...
"Unless I could come along?" Madeline made an apologetic face as she offered, knowing how crazy it sounded. "I know it's not exactly normal, but I won't get in the way! Really! I know I won't slow you guys down and I won't do anything stupid!"

"I really don't… he’s all not wanting to talk to me again… not about anything real anyways." He leaned back in the chair with a sigh. "You don't think something happened while he was by himself, do you? He’s always kinda not been okay alone…"
"What do you mean? What do you think happened?"

"Nyet, I am not having any idea where it went. Sorry." He shrugged a bit. At least it didn’t seem like she was angry at him for suggesting something so… bizarre. Though he wasn’t really sure how to answer her next question, in truth he hadn’t really decided yet.
"I… don’t really know. There are parts of both Recon Corps and Garrison that I am liking, I would really love safety of Garrison. If I never have to face another titan its will be too soon. But… I feel like I would be more useful in Recon Corps, you know? What about you?"
"Well, I'm not sure." Maddie's hands twisted in front of her nervously. "I thought I might be heroic, but I'm not as brave as Al... and anyway, with the way titans have been acting, I'm not sure the walls are safe either. Besides, it's all pretty moot, I made you a promise, didn't I? I'll pick the one you do." She hadn't wanted to say it so bluntly, knowing that it would pressure him, but the events of the day hadn't put her into a mood for diplomacy and mincing words.

Ivan shrugged a bit, moving to kneel down next to her. “We decided not to give this thing a name. My father and his advisers were not wanting anybody to be getting attached to it.” In case they had to kill it or do some kind of experimenting on it. Ivan thought to himself bitterly. He didn’t like what they were planning on doing to the poor creature, and nobody who was uninvolved in the matter knew anything about it. Most people inside the castle didn’t know that they had a dragon in their possession, let alone the common people. Ivan didn’t think it was fair, but he had little say in the matter as it was mostly up to his father. The people of Novgorod liked to think that they were more egalitarian and democratic than the people of Britannia, but there was so much information that the common people weren’t privy to so it wasn’t nearly as equal as everybody thought.
The dragon tilted its head to the side slightly, hopping forward a bit to get closer to Maddie and Ivan. It had large, docile but intelligent eyes as it looked at the two humans.
"That's a shame." Madeline murmured, still watching the creature hop forward. In a rare instance of stereotypes being correct, the blonde's first instinct was that they might do something horrible to the dragon, but she pushed the thought down, trying to convince herself there was some better explanation. The dragon tilted it's head curiously and let out a huff of cold air- it's breath wouldn't mature into a weapon for a while yet.
"Could it fly? If it was let out, I mean?" The dragon looked like it might be old enough to fly, but it's wings were probably weak from disuse. It stepped forward cautiously, until it was within arm's reach of the two monarchs, and Maddie disregarded common sense to put a hand through the bars and let the dragon sniff her fingers, watching it carefully to make sure it didn't snap at her. The animal seem suspicious, but moved forward again until her still fingertips brushed it's snout. There was a breathless moment where the princess gently grazed her fingers across it's soft fur and it pressed against her hand like a cat looking for an ear scratch. Then, the door behind them slammed open and the dragon sprang back, startled.
The disruption was a court messenger who hastily bowed before explaining "Your Majesty, the King would like to see you in the throne room immediately."
When the pair returned to King Zima, the monarch was frowning sternly at a congregation of lesser nobles. A guard announced the two heirs and the king boomed "Prince Ivan, the dragon has murdered a peasant woman, we have to put an end to it. Take a party to the mountain and kill the damned beast!" An orderly whispered a translation into Maddie's ear so the princess wouldn't be entirely in the dark.
