He hadn't anticipated the need to change his approach once Snake did as he wanted; when that hand moved away to instead find his hip Shadow lowered down off his toes, not quite sure he knew when or how long he'd been up on them, and quickly abandoned the idea of using teeth. He didn't relax immediately or drop down, assuming from Snake's apparent willingness that he could ease out of the kiss, awkward though the change may have been.
Shadow didn't really think he'd open his eyes to see that the other had been watching him either so quickly turned his gaze to the floor and lowered his head, chewing instead on his own lip while lightly stroking the pale skin beneath his thumbs.
This whole... Everything about this had really taken him by surprise. Snake may have been worried about Shadow's thoughts on the matter up until this moment but Shadow had figured, maybe, he'd just really been that bad at attempting to get his attention, and there may be the faintest of smiles forming there.
He didn't know what he was doing, no, and he knew that was probably a little obvious but he still lowered his hands to Snake's chest, following his neck and collar on the way down, and moved in a little closer. He had to dip his head back to look up at him again, quietly hoping he's a little more successful in this attempt than the last â not to mention trying to avoid admitting he was perfectly fine with them staying out in the hallway even if this progressed further. "Those vials are glass, so..."
