“They do, but other cats most certainly aren’t people. The attention makes them feel special, especially with treats. Female cats are also more likely to bond to just one person in a household but depending on how much attention you give a cat- certainly a human could fill the role.” She would know almost first hand. “Mornings weren’t for me when I was your age either. Maybe you should get one, then you won’t have to go out.”

And he knows his daughter - she’ll love any animal he brings into her life, but he wants to make the right choice. “She looks pretty cute. How old is she?”
She nods, “Personalities seem to align a good deal, which could be a good match. Especially at the age she’s at right now, young enough to still want to play but old enough to know to respect her elders. She’s probably about eight months old I would gather.” Selina looks at the tag on the outside of the cage, “Yeah.”

he shrugs nonchalantly, as he keeps petting another cat. “you can’t trust someone who doesn’t like animals to some degree. will i lose points if i say i’m more of a dog person than a cat person?” he questions sheepishly. he had grown up with his sister’s service dog, so it was to be expected. “are you planning on taking one home today?”

“Makes sense,” she pays little mind to his rudeness. She’s seen it all before and to be frank it stopped phasing her a long time ago. “But you should hold a little more respect to us... surfacers,” The word feels weird on her tongue but she continues speaking. “Or at least speak to a few personally before passing an immediate judgement. It’ll get you in tight situations.”

“And you’re entirely correct in that case,” she hums a little, pursing her lips as she looks at one of the older cats. “That could also tie into a theory of evolution that I’m sure you’ve heard a million times before.” Selina looks over at Sigurd and smiles, “You can always trust an animal more than you can trust a person. Now, what was that you were saying about your relatives being animals?”

“Apex predators with the patience of a saint. What a combination.” As if on cue, Charlie gave another disgruntled murp, rolling on his side. That earned the feline a side-eye from the arachnid. “Or insatiable need for affection – I’m not leaving you out, I promise.” Her comment didn’t warrant any outward response from Miguel. He knew his relationship with the orange scrap of rug was.. an endearing one, most days. “You should see He then nodded. “If you’re sure. I wasn’t sure anyone came here this early.”
“Exactly,” she agrees and looks over at Charlie with a little bit of a smile. It was honestly just funny to see cats interacting with people in such away. The cats closer to Paragon are very different in comparison to the cats she knew in Gotham. “Now that I’m seeing how he acts around you he definitely appreciates you. Cats like having some sort of constant, whether it be attention, food, or somewhere to go at night. I think I’m the only one who comes this early, not to say I should be, though.”

“I have a cat. Named Frog. Doesn’t that get me double points?” Roy asks with a chuckle as he looks over at her, an amused sort of smile on his face. Truth be told the pet hunting isn’t for him, it’s for Lian - and right now it’s more of a half-thought than anything else. “I’m just taking a look for now, actually. It’s.. getting to that time that Lian might need a new cat, I kinda figure it’s better to get one now while Frog’s still okay rather than - you know.”
“Definitely,” she looks over the cats again as Roy talks and she turns around when he mentions looking for a cat for Lian. “Understandable, it’s good to get a new one before..other things happen,” she taps her fingers on her jaw and points at a fluffy black one. “She might be good for Lian.”

“I didn’t think you were an animal person,” Selina says as he pets at one of the cats in the ARL. She always comes when she’s feeling particularly stressed. It’s a lot easier to be around animals than people but she rarely ever sees other people right after it opens. She can’t help but be curious about it.
“I’ve always been an animal person.” the Asgardian admitted as he beamed at the cat in front of him. “Might have something to do with the fact I have a brother that is a snake, a brother that is a wolf, and another brother who is a horse.” he mused, not a care in the world to how ridiculous he must have sounded. “Animals are just a lot more understanding than other creatures, I sometimes think they can see your very soul… the good and the bad, and they love us anyway.”
She tilts her head, and almost laughs but managed to keep it in. What a story, but she’d met too many people in her life to consider it all that bizarre. If anything is only sparked her curiosity a little more, everyone always had their stories but it wasn’t ever day she met someone who claimed that their family members were animals- or are animals for that matter. “They are a lot more understanding, and you definitely have all of the reasons to be close to them I’m sure. Cats particularly are understanding, and vengeful. Very people like, I think”

“Oh I’m sure it’s not something you would not out in the open,” she nods and takes one of the cats into her arms, scratching under it’s chin while it purred. “But the cats like you, so that must be a plus.” Selina offers the smallest of smiles to Miguel.
“I’ve put time into my reputation as a bitter time traveler. Too much to let a ball of fur muck it all up,” he assured, eye glinting. “Besides… We didn’t have shelters where I grew up. I had easier access to cat DNA than I did actual cats. Charlie here tolerates me, and I tolerate him back.” There was a pause as he watched Selina coddle the cat in her arms. “Am I interrupting your morning routine, Miss Kyle?”
She shrugs her shoulders, “Well, it’s not like a cat will ruin a reputation like that, they are apex predators. The only trouble is they’re about ten pounds and we pick them up and name them Fluffy.” Selina looked up at Miguel with a cool expression. “I’m sure he does more than tolerates you,” her eyes glance over the cat and she sighs through her nose. “Not at all, I just like to come in and say hi.”
