Look I donāt deny the possibility that this kid is legitimately traumatised but heās receiving the backing of an entire political movement because he killed protestors at an anti-police protest. Thatās whatās happening here. In isolation, the case is simple. He does not have a case for self defense.
Stand your ground laws do not apply in this case bc the shooter was neither at his home, nor his business, nor in his vehicle.
You cannot shoot someone for property damage. You do not get to bring your gun to a public place thinking that you might shoot someone for property damage if, as a non-law enforcement vigilante, it gets out of hand by your standards, and think that that wonāt indicate premeditation. You cannot shoot someone in the head for throwing a plastic bag and an empty coke can at you. You do not then get to run from the scene of the crime and then claim that the people trying to take your gun and hold you there are āassaultingā you and that killing them is ājust defendingā yourself.
But itās been so politicised by the entire right wing that feels victimised by justice and progress, that people form a strong opinion in his defense without even knowing the details of the case and what heās being charged with and why. They just say āidk I just know he shot some BLM th*gs who were attacking him and burning down America, so good for him, heās my hero. #standyourgroundā without knowing wtf theyāre talking about.
