Goddammit inflation’s affected everything

In my podcast where I'm reading that vampire romance schlock, I came across a part where there was another instance of a six-year-old girl being a potential life mate to a thousand some odd year old vampire. And I just think it's fucking insane. I go off on it about how I don't like it, how I do not like anything approaching that. And it's absolutely nuts.

I'm trying to figure out if he's arguing that 9 years back then is the same length of time as 19 years is now, because if he is that's fascinating and I actually want to hear more.

I mean, really, without understanding the person, I think that's the gist of the argument is that a nine-year-old back then is equivalent of a 19-year-old now, which is insane.
