we have synthesised the female body so much that people aren’t aware that young girls get face lines because they make facial expressions, it’s nothing to do with aging. i’ve had a massive forehead line since like 10 because i raise my eyebrows a lot. but even if it was, imagine making female children terrified of not looking like children. women aren’t meant to exist looking like children. this just makes me so sad.
and this is why i firmly stand against ‘skin care’ as much as makeup. it’s just as harmful.
Ageing is inevitable and is a good thing! Lines and wrinkles show you have actually lived and spoken and sang and smiled and loved and cried, y’know, like humans do!
I’m all for taking care of your skin in basic ways (using the right face wash and moisturisers for your skin type, dealing with painful skin issues like acne and eczema) but there reaches a point where all the shit you’re putting on your skin is pointless or even causing you harm. i hate to say it but youre complaining about reading comprehension while completely misinterpreting that anon? i didn't see your other post but the anon did not say anything about your supposed opinion on gender roles. it just said they disagree with the idea that trans women have existed as long as gender roles because it would've been obviously advantageous for them to not transition to "be" a woman when women were treated as property.

i mean if youre actively assuming theyre excluding you from that then sure. i read the relevant post and i still dont see how you dug that hard. in no way did they say you think gender roles are good, they just disagree with you about trans people existing through history.
I'm really frustrated that anyone would misinterpret what I said so much. If you look at the person's responses to me, you can see that they think I'm on the side of trans women or that I think gender roles are acceptable when trans people use them. They asked me "Are gender roles only bad when they're being performed by the opposite sex?" and put in their tags "the issue is that gender roles aren't good and they're used to oppress women". I NEVER even hinted at that. I'm sure the anon was the same person and I don't want to keep explaining the same basic point. Plus, the anon saying "Radfems want to eradicate gender roles" was what really made me annoyed, because saying that is just telling me something I already know while simultaneously implying I disagree with it.
It feels like a few people are having a knee jerk reaction to me saying trans people have existed for a long time. You want to think that trans people are a modern phenomenon. I am in total disagreement because, as I said before, a trans person is just someone who wants to perform the gender roles of the opposite sex. Therefore, they've been around since gender roles began, because someone is always going to be unhappy with their assigned roles.

If you want to exclude trans women from womanhood, you have to define womanhood in a way that excludes transwomen. And that can’t be done without also excluding many cis women.
If you’re gonna say that trans women are not women, you have to figure out what makes someone a women or not. If it’s “a vagina”: lots of transwomen have those. If it’s “the ability to give birth”: lots of cis women can’t do that. If it’s “experiencing misogyny in a patriarchy”, then womanhood no long exists when you get rid of patriarchy, which is… a weird take; but also trans women experience a shit ton of misogyny.
No one is saying that the trans woman’s experience is exactly the same as the cis woman’s experience, but the cis woman’s experience isn’t the same as the cis woman’s experience either. There’s no common denominator that all of us AFAB women have that trans women don’t, except being assigned at birth.]
we’ve actually been saying the exact opposite for quite some time now. to INCLUDE transwomen in womanhood, you have to define womanhood in a way that includes transwomen, and that cannot be done without believing purely batshit or misogynistic ideas about what makes someone a woman.
a woman is an adult human female. a female is a member of the sex whose entire body develops around the reproduction of ova.
what i just described is already defining womanhood in a way that, yes, excludes transwomen. it’s that simple, really. if you have an alternative definition of the word woman that actually makes even an ounce of sense and isn’t based around sexist stereotypes, i’d love to hear it.
not a single transwoman has a vagina. an inverted penis is not a vagina. many women cannot give birth, but they are still female, and not a single male in the history of humanity has ever given birth.
and “AFAB people”, women, were not “assigned female at birth” at all. women ARE female. those are facts. assigned sex is a concept involving intersex people, not a phrase you can freely use in order to deny your biology.

this is the process for so many women. so many women pride themselves on being intelligent — and they are! and they should! — but allow that intelligence to be directed in ways that are pre-approved without ever acknowledging that the pre-approval is being done by patriarchy, which has a vested interest in making sure it stays alive.
it is only in allowing yourself to have new ideas, to consider what has been forbidden or restricted without reason or explanations, that you really see what your own mind can do.
