Noahâs eyes narrowed slightly, his body taking a defensive posture in front of his friend, shielding him from his siblingâs nonexistent eyes. He wasnât exactly sure how the other had found him, of course it has been years since they last saw each other and yet Noah believed he would be getting away for a bit longer at least. None of that seemed to even be close to how things were going to happen now and all he could do against it was to get his defense up for now.
His ears did not pick up anything else apart from the mechanic sound that came from the portal his sibling used and the soft gush of the wind whirling around them. He had to stay focus. Maitora was not a fighter, he was the one with the Memory of âAbilityâ, Noah technology and such. The actual creator of the ark. â Whatâs the matter? Youâre suddenly trying to look for a fight? â Noahâs words were asked in an sarcasm dripping tone, his eyebrows rising and his chin motioning towards his sibling.
â It is not my job to fight you, FOURTEEN. â His voice was still the same he remembered it to be, mechanic, like the voice of a computer, put together by technology with no sign of humanityâŚor emotions at all. Nostalgia was hitting him, how he had remembered the elder when he was studying technology through the years as well, thinking how much easier it would be to learn if he was on good terms with his clan. Yet such a thing was not possible and it would never be.
Shifting his eyes he, probably finally, remembered that he was still with a friend, a mere human and he turned his head so both individuals were in his sight. â Why arenât you introducing us. Itâs impolite to keep people strangers. â The computer voice this time had a hint of teasing as well and he could tell that his sibling was relaxing slowly.
â Jinki, this is one of my siblings, Maitora the thirteenth disciple of our clan. Heâs the one in charge of handling the Noah technology with his âAbilityâ memory. â Noah was explaining in a matter-of-fact tone and he gestured to the creature in front of them.
â I do not think Iâll have to introduce you to him because I am sure he doesnât want to loose time to explain why heâs approaching me all of a sudden. â
Jinki was confused. More than confused, actually. He was a bit startled, somewhat afraid of the form materializing in front of Noah, but mostly curious. Naturally, after months of knowing the male, Jinkiâd seen Noah get defensive about a whole load of things, but never this defensive â and never defensive about him. From what he could tell, Noah had definitely recognized the creature, and while that raised a good couple of questions in Jinkiâs head (okay, maybe more than a couple), the one he found his mind completely focused on was âwhat the actual hell?â.
He shuddered, his breaths quick and shallow, because the cold was something like heâd never sensed before, taking over him from the inside, almost seeping through his skin like fluid. He blinked a couple of times, fist clenching at his side before he took a single step forward, nearly fumbling in the process. Why this was happening to him was beyond a mystery, but he found that it had at least something to do with the creature that had emerged from ... wherever it was that it came from.
Jinki was persistently calling it creature in his head because he knew from the swift glance heâd taken over Noahâs shoulder that it was nowhere near human. He didnât catch most of what it said, only bits and pieces of the last part, although he could very much compare the monotone voice to one of a robot â a computer maybe, even.
When Noah turned around, he felt a bit relieved because he was kind of hoping that the confrontation was over â that theyâd go back to Jinkiâs apartment and laugh it off like it was practically nothing. What he got, though, was more confusion stacked on the previous amount, and no move to pull them away from the creature. Maitora, was it?
âNoah, youâre not making any sense.â He said, releasing a breathy chuckle, eyes snapping to the scenery ahead, and he wanted nothing more than to leave â to have his body return to regular body temperature and to have his friend right on his side.
Was he dreaming? Could it possibly be? Jinki found himself sincerely doubting it, but hoping it was the case, because then itâd be a lot easier to explain. He found his hand automatically moving, pinching his skin in hopes of getting himself to wake up. He shut his eyes, then opened.
He was still there. A little disappointed, now, too.
