I don't mind if his stans want to make a thousand posts a day about how much they love him, but what does bother me is that they always try to throw in his face that he "is the only canonical/true route". I even read that "the real Yui" is only the Yui that appears in Ayato's routes. đ€Šđ»ââïžđ€Šđ»ââïžđ€Šđ»ââïž
I swear, his stans are so annoying. Yui is the "real Yui" in all the damn routes, NOT just Ayato's. All routes are equally canon because at the end of the day it's us fans who decide who we prefer to see Yui/MC with. In any case, Yui/MC loves all the guys in her harem in equal measure, there is nothing she has done or said for Ayato that she hasn't done or said for the other Diaboys. And in fact, she has died more times protecting Yuma than Ayato, (that's never mentioned by Ayato's stans, why is that?)
Something I can't stand either is that they say that Ayato's Dark Fate route "is the best route of all the games", literally in Dark Fate you have routes like Carla and Shin's, who are new characters and yet have better development and a much more interesting background than Ayato could have had in four games.
Same anon, same. (Wow⊠the statement about Yui đ. The idolism got to that point? Come on đ . And i thought the level of entitlement couldnât surpass the âAyato is the main characterâ.)
Though my problem with them is
1, They think they have the priviledge.
To whitewash (idk how this word works yet, like is it only apply to skin color? Or does it mean âbleaching oneâs wrong doingâ too? Iâm going with the 2nd one) their oshi; for example, âAyato has never engaged in harmful coping mechanism and never project it on others.â In Bold.
Thatâs blatant lie. Check out Sakamaki Saga for more detail plus his LE route too! I donât remember much about HBD MB and DF but i think there are some. Mainly in the first two games.
While they reacted like sodium meeting water whenever the other boys did an equal bad thing. Some even make up tell tales about them. Way to go.
To say ânot a positive opinionâ about other boys, but non-Ayato fans canât.
âIk everyone has their opinions but why donât keep them to yourself if theyâre not positive ones??? Donât wonder why Ayato stans reacted that way because everyone would defend their fav Diaboy. Acting like he isnât the Sakamaki most prone to put his life on the line for others pfft. Girl, you will obviously get such negativeâreactions if you start drama. You claim you donât want to but you did start it already because you spread hatred in this fandom with your âopinionsâ.
Lady and gentlemen, look at that mindset.
These priviledged people allow themselves to shove fake facts into other peopleâs face. They be dissing your fav boys everyday and people applause them for that. Then when you raise your hand to voice out your not-a-one-way-tunnel thoughts, they brand it as ânegativeâ. Why negative? Oh. Cuz you donât support Ayato and put him on an altar; instead, you tell them that âAyatoâs at fault tooâ. That means you hate him right? You want to discredit him, right? You want to start drama, right?
2. Some of them just love to assume. Pulling things out of no where. If you have time do take a look at the previous asks on my blog. Oh my. If you say smth on the level of âperceivingâ theyâll think that youâre âcomplainingâ and attack you. And this one will be the complement for
3. They prone to put things in boxes. Because they donât understand perceptions and perspectives, plus, theyâre so used to reacting, they wonât be able to see that youâre only giving an opinion that could be the complement for their opinion to create a complete picture. Theyâll think that youâre reacting. That youâre attacking them, their oshi, anything of such. So they attack you.
4. They value fairness, but only if Ayatoâs in the picture. For all the rest⊠nope.
Prove is what you just said anon. âAyatoâs the real routeâ, âYuiâs the real Yui in Ayatoâs routeâ, ect. I donât have to say more than that.
(Oh your last statement. đ€ True true some characters âhave better development and a much more interesting backgroundâ plus mindset; AND, by âinterestingâ i donât mean that iâm encouraging their twisted behaviours and wrong doings. Just that they would be fascinating subjects to do research on. This note is for the Ayatoâs fan who havenât been able to see things seperately yet so that they donât jump onto me and attack me for things i never said. đ
Though i barely check the T boys out⊠Maybe later. Carlaâs question for Yui at the Tsukinami Prologue and for Subaru in Subaru DF pique my interest. Defi will read.)
In terms of the gameplay: The black choices lead up to a bad ending, the white choices lead up to a good ending. Please no reposting onto other sites, ask me before translating this into another language too! Iâm an amateur translator, but I hope you do enjoy it anyway!âĄ
this has been on my mind for a while but still didn't say it because I didn't want people to come after me and cancel me. just know I like ayato, but I don't like the overrated hype on him by people. I'm not hating on Ayato stans, because I was one myself but this overrated hype got me out of it after discovering more knowledge on other characters.
the way some people hype the Ayato "overrate" is too much. like I get it Rejet gave a lot of signs of painting Ayato as the main lead, but it was prolly to have some easier ideas on merch and fanservice contents (like youngblood). yes there might me Rejet's favoritism too here, especially in anime, like all the boys barely have any interaction with Yui except when it came to suck her blood, but that wasn't the case with Ayato. I feel like if Rejet had shown favoritism towards Subaru or actually tried to highlight Shu or Reiji or even Laito's trauma like they did with Ayato, then the main love interest would have pointed towards them.
people saying that Ayato "truly" deserves to be the ML because he had it "worse" are we starting to compare everyones' trauma now??? I'm sorry but trauma can never be compared because everyone has their own experience, sufferings and hardships going through it.
alright if you wanna compare "worse" then, what Ayato had worse? Cordelia abusing him to study 24/7 to become number one and not letting him play + venting her anger out on him? then what about Shu??? as the first born I'm pretty sure it was way worse for him especially how strict and cold Beatrix was. and the only solace, his friend edgar aka Yuma, was also snatched by him. If you guys would have read Shu's LE vampire end starting monologue, then you guys would have known how Shu was talking about his trauma and how he dealt with it using music, pushing people away, etc. + plus it's side effect on him.
"Ayato forgave Cordelia in DF in his route even after what she did to him" okay? so did Yuma. He forgave Reiji for what happened in the past. Laito also forgave Cordelia in his DF route after discovering Karlheinz's journal. Carla was ready to help vampires, the species he hates the most, just on Yui's saying.
Yes Ayato had development, but I feel like Reiji, Ruki, Kou, Shu and Laito had the best one and more better development than him. Like through each and every game you can see them coming over trauma through Yui's help and becoming a better person. While in Ayato's case I just felt like they dumped the "main hero" plot on him by reviving Cordelia. yeah DF was the only route I saw his development while in other games, I didn't see much unlike what I witnessed with other characters.
Subaru was the green flag from the start and if Rejet would have given him the screen time instead of Ayato, he would have become the Main Interest.

Hi, i love this blog, your analyses are awesome really. I want yo know if Laito can feel real love and how do You think he behave.
Awww!! Thankâs so much for your compliments, supergeek! That really means a lot!! Iâm happy you love my blog :) Youâre a pretty active follower of mine and I appreciate it a lot!Â
So now, letâs get into your question! Continued under the cut!
First of all, I believe that anyone can turn around and undo past experiences and or abuse. It really depends on your support system and circumstances. Which, unfortunately, Laito doesnât have the biggest support system, and his circumstances are relatively static until Yui comes along.Â
I did answer a similar question here about if Laito feels any affection for Yui in HDB. Which to put it simply, itâs more how a dog would love their toy; Yuiâs his plaything. I also mention his struggles with love in my Hilde analysis and my HDB vs MB analysis
MB is a bit different, and I definitely have mentioned this before either directly or indirectly before, but it gives Laito a circumstance where heâs been broken down (instead of Yui in HDB) and thus has an opportunity to rebuild himself. And his ending really confirms it; I go more into this in my HDB vs MB analysis.Â
But how he will behave? Iâm not much of a creative writer, but the MB vampire ending was really confirmed how heâd act in this situation. Hereâs some snippets from that!Â
Laito: Well itâs fine. Now, letâs go. Come on, lend me your hand.
Yui: Eh?
Laito: Eh? No no. Come on⊠âŠletâs hold hands?
Yui: Uh⊠âŠ
Laito: Alright, letâs go.
Yui: (⊠âŠThis is the first time⊠âŠIâm holding hands with someone⊠âŠlike this⊠âŠ)
(My heartâs pounding very fast⊠âŠ)
Laito: Is this making your heart throb? Fufu.
Itâs then kinda implied that heâs doing regular âhuman date thingsâ in exploration and to just gain knowledge. Itâs definitely dorky and very cute, just him trying to unlearn the things heâs known and learn new things.
Also, if you havenât read his More Blood short story, I definitely recommend it. Itâs all in his point of view, and itâs him struggling to keep his perverted facade, but then doing a lot of internal speculations. However, he does say that dating is a farce and is tedious, but he does say that heâs doing it for Yui. So he definitely possesses compassion and the ability to compromise, and better himself. Take a look at this snippet from the short story.
Thatâs why, Iâm sorry, but frankly, this date is a joke. But hey, Iâm not refusing it, right? Nfu.
Leaning against a nearby pillar, I snort a self-derisive laugh. Just a short time ago, Iâd absolutely never have entertained such thoughts. But for some reason, ever since that incident, my body has been seething with strange emotions, and I began often considering these simple things.
I canât even say when it possessed me.
More and more, I started thinking about the child that had become perverted. Every time, surely it was from being around her. So I guess Iâm thinking about this because of you.
But Iâm not inclined to dredge up the past at this late hour. Iâve always preferred to face forward. Even now, surely sheâs the reason Iâve become trapped, blundering through this maze.
Letâs dig deeper into this. The âyouâ is Yui, and the âshe/herâ is Cordelia. Heâs being internally affected by Yui at this point, and therefore is being more self-reflective. Again, it seems he wants to better himself by the ending of this. He knows his facade was because of Cordelia and how she âtrappedâ him in this cycle. Again, like I always says, Laito doesnât like confrontation and heâs avoiding confronting his own internal issues in his own mind; funny. He also says at the beginning that he has been considering âsimple thingsâ; which were dates and stuff such as this. It definitely confirms that Laito was slowly unraveling throughout MB, or even before. Which canonically could give a reason as to why his MB route was âfluffierâ then HDB. But he admits that heâs been heavily affected by Yui, and is slowly changing. So yes, heâs capable of love!Â
Again, as for how heâd act? Still a lil pervy to an extent. I explain this more in my Laitoâs true personality analysis towards the end. But heâd be more âsimplisticâ as he puts it; and definitely more dorky. Basically Iâd think Yui would take the lead in those things. Sure she doesnât have experience until Laito, but she definitely has knowledge as well. Laito probably has knowledge about the âsimplicities of the human worldâ but would just misconstrue it. Which Yui would have to correct. Or Laito would take it sexual (as he usually does) but probably not as often. I do mention in the true personality analysis that heâd be more low key and more gentle. Which is kinda how he is in the Para-Selene CD. Which, again, I also made an analysis on that too.
Hopefully that answered your question! This was a nice change compared to the darker tones of my last few analyses haha; so once again, thanks for supporting me! If you need any followups or have any questions in relation to this or anything else topic related, let me know!
Thereâs been a lot of opinions about Laitoâs abrupt shift in his character between HDB and MB. Iâm gonna break it down first, and then talk about it. Whole essay under the cut!
I've recently checked out your Yui x female headcanons and I wanna know do you actually think Yui falling in love with the diaboys is just Stockholm syndrome? I know theyâre just meant to be head canons but Iâm pretty curious about it (but Iâm pretty sure she genuinely fell in love with them)
I was waiting for this one!! Hereâs an analysis on my end!!
TW FOR PEDOPHILIA, STOCKHOLM SYNDROME, DIABOLIK LOVERS TYPICAL ABUSE.
So letâs start off with who Yui is as a character.
Sheâs supposed to be written as a sheltered, sweet, and overall empathetic girl who follows a strict moral code, mainly influenced by her religious views (Roman Catholicism).
This is heavily implied as in Romania at the time and as of current, Roman Catholicism is the main religion practiced.
Itâs canon that her interactions with men have been controlled, as seen with her fatherâ who did neglect her, leaving her to eat meals by herself, always be home alone, and basically only rely on the nuns for some supportâ but even then it wasnât enough.
Hence why she can be considered to be a âgood housewifeâ since she has that experience on knowing how to manage a household with chores and all.
Even further pushing it for her previous relations with men, we know she had friends beforeâ a life beforeâ the house. Men? I would assume she was cordial when needed to be, but never was allowed to heavily interact, which is why sheâs so out of date with her speaking, and pop cultureâ as itâs revealed by Yui, herself, that she doesnât know that much.
But of course, why is that important? It gives the key foundlings to her environment, and also aids in assessing whoâs more susceptible to Stockholm syndrome, and any tactics of abuse.
Basically who is the best âtargetâ for abusers to get too.
Her father canonically has given off-hand sketchy vibes, and also has canonically shown borderline pedophilic behaviours towards his own adoptive daughter. Even going as far as to want and attempt to marry her.
(Iâm not sure where that is shown again, but in some MB routesâ Kouâs, Rukiâsâ he [Seiji, Her adoptive father] meets Yui and assumes sheâs a vampire and attempts to kill her.)
Basically, it all starts at home. It sets the ground work for what you can take and what a person is conditioned to believe, etc.
In this case, Yui is conditioned to believe that itâs at least normal for her to appropriate these behaviours, and in a sense, still talk good about the men around her because she doesnât know any better. She doesnât know anything other than this.
Thatâs why she still tries her best to talk about her father is a positive light, because, due to her good heart, wants to believe and see the best and people (a core part in her character which allows her to live and persevere all routesâ especially HDB with the boys.)
So due to that, we can take the groundwork presented to us as a Player, Reader, or consumer of the games and Diabolik Lovers Media, that Yuiâs relationships and viewpoints of men is formed and directly influenced by her father and what rules he set up.
A psychological fact, everyoneâs core parts and associations all start at home, with our parents. Thatâs why many get their viewpoints of how a man should treat you, via your father figure. And so forth.
It starts with discipline, then forming views and opinions, and overall how the treatment you receive reflects directly what you are constantly engaged and exposed to in your home-life and environment.
So for Yui, we can understand the followingâ
A) Relations with Father figure (which impacts her views/treatment by men) is shifty, but she still speaks in good light.
B) She is used to being alone, and handling everything herself. Bottling it in as she didnât have that many outlets other than the obvious religious standpoint.
C) Despite it all, sheâs raised to be a good person and is high or quite white, on the scale of morality.
So with that being said, what is Stockholm Syndrome?
Stockholm Syndrome is a diagnosis given when:
A) Feelings of trust or affection felt in many cases of kidnapping or hostage-taking by a victim toward a captor.
B) Hostages sometimes develop a psychological bond with their captors. It is supposed to result from a rather specific set of circumstances, namely the power imbalances contained in hostage-taking, kidnapping, and abusive relationships.
That is the formal definition, given by Oxford Dictionary and Wikipedia (Cited from: King, David [2020], and Jameson, C [2010].)
Which are official reports reviewed by psychologists and psychiatrists who are heavily trained in their field.
Now, we can take it from the anime and HDB (the darkest of the games,) that Reiji implicitly states âYou are not able to leave.â To which Subaru replies, âJust tell her that if she attempts to escape sheâll die.â
That in itself tells you thereâs no escape. And that from that point on, Yui becomes a hostage. In a house with pre-established men who already are high level threats to Yui, and are highly dangerous.
And what is Yui? Sheâs afraid. Like any sane person who understands the power difference between a man and a womanâ more specifically vampires. She learns this instantly, and also faces threats of bodily harm quick into her stay.
Whatever happens later on in any route, is Yui playing the saviour. Sheâs expected to cater to every boy, and there are heavy repercussions if she disobeys.
Thereâs a master post of everything in HDB that occurs when the boys attempt to kill her.
And of course, this doesnât just start at HDB, this also extends all all games, MB, DF, LE, and just any and all games when thereâs an introduction in characters or simply just any routes.
In every route there will be at least some sort of implication of abuse or undertones. As that is what Diabolik Lovers is, a dark video game series.
Point is, if itâs Diabolik Lovers, expect some sort of abuse towards the MC/Yui/Player.
With this basis and mentality in mind, itâs heavy and dark. Which is what lead many previous brides to take their own life. They couldnât handle the constant pressure nor the abuse being presented to them that they underwent.
So where does Yui fit into all of this?
A) Sheâs one of the many brides and assumed to be the last bride to enter the house due to her complicated relations with her heart.
B) She is undergoing the abuse of the Sakamakiâs, Mukamiâs, Tsukinamiâs, and Kino.
C) She is quite literally a victim and survivor of what countless other brides have died to. The only thing keeping her alive is her heart, which also goes to make problems for her in the future.
Itâs been stated, highlighted, emphasized and understood by everyoneâ including Yui herself, that all she is worth is her blood. A blood bag. That is it.
Of course, this is where the Adam and Eve Plan would come into play with Yui finding an Adam out of the candidates.
However, she is still in this environnement which tolerates and even thrives off of her abuse.
Which would, in some routes, condition her to become a masochist, thriving off of her own pain, just because the vampires constantly tell her, gaslight her, and condition her to believe that she likes it.
Even after Yui consistently states she doesnât.
(This is also influenced by Cordeliaâs heart, and what Cordelia is subconsciously pushing Yui too aswell, as seen in HDB, one of the scenes with Shuu as he gets jumped in the alleyway. Her thoughtsâ driven by Cordelia in the momentâ reflect sadistic intent. Another scene where sheâs pushed to enjoy her suffering, even when Yui fights against it because somewhere inside her knows itâs wrong.)
However, this isnât to say that the boys donât get character development. They do. Which is how we as a consumer and player can have fan favourites and like them.
But how do they get to that point? Through Yui. Using Yui as a direct catalyst to project their abusive tendencies into her, leaving her to pick up the pieces with herself, and become an unlicensed therapist to aid in their problems.
This is directly influenced by each of the Sakamakiâs mommy issues, the Mukamiâs inferiority complexes and need to succeed, and for the Tsukinamiâsâ their need for their race to be saved.
And of course, understanding every boysâ underlying complexities of their individual traumas which make up their character as we know it.
Yui has to suffer a lot for her to get what we see it, or what is painted as, âlove and a good ending,â with the selected boy and route of each respective gameâ along with the boy chosen.
She gets here because sheâs slowly conditioned to allow these abusers to take over her life, and basically become what they need in that moment.
But she does have her own personality, her own goals, motivations, and whatnot.
However it becomes overrided by the survivor mentality sheâs instantly placed in when sheâs constantly around these vampiric men. Sheâs always on her guard, and the moment she drops it, itâs used against her.
Even when sheâs seemingly in a good moment with the boys, understand, that one wrong move can send her straight to death. So everything is much more calculated than it seems.
In factâ to further prove the Stockholm syndrome affectâ Yui acknowledges that sheâs stuck and trapped. In Shuuâs HDB route, DARK 01, she only attempts to get Shuu to go to his classes in hopes that the Sakamakiâs will be greatful to her and let her leave.
So even if she does happen to find attraction in any of the boys, and fall in love, thereâs still an outlining of conditioning that gets her to that point.
This isnât to hate on anyone that ships Yui with any of the boys, this is simply a brief analysis of the facts from a purely psychological approach!! Iâd like to think if the boys got therapy and worked through their problems, perhaps then, they wouldnât have projected their traumas onto Yui.
But thank you for the ask!! This was fun to analyze!!

first off, sorry for the delay, iâve been moving at shu speed (read: zero speed). i meant to answer, then immediately chose horizontal death instead. but since i have exactly no time to reread his hdb route in the foreseeable future, i decided to stop overthinking and yeet this out anyway lmao
anyways. shuyui⊠listen. theyâre my second place tie with laitoyuiâdifferent flavors of emotional taxation, same bill at the end
hdb shu is funny because people slap âlazyâ, âpervertedâ, âapatheticâ on him like thatâs the whole story. but heâs really just a cat who mastered weaponized inertia. the laziness is armorâif he does nothing, no one can demand anything. the lewd teasing is a soft electric fenceâjust enough to keep people from getting close, not enough to start war. heâd rather be written off as indifferent than risk being seen clearly
and whatâs underneath that sludge of âi donât careâ? a boy cracked in three directions at once:
beatrix taught him that affection is something you endure, not something you feel. her âloveâ in hdb is a spotlight that never turns off: hovering, correcting, grooming him into the perfect heir like heâs her personal art project. he learns early that being seen by her isnât comfortâitâs surveillance. so he trains himself into stillness. be quiet enough, slow enough, invisible enough, and maybe sheâll forget he exists
reiji taught him that existing wrong is a crime. shu refuses the motherly attention reiji always craved, and in the land of extremes the grass is always greener. when beatrix dies at reijiâs hands, that resentment festers; reiji slips into her empty parental role with a rigidity that feels more like punishment than guidance. hdb makes it clear: shu is expected to be the âproper sakamaki heir.â and shuâs rebellion is almost poeticâhe meets the weight of reijiâs expectations by becoming dead weight (read: being aggressively horizontal at all times)
edgar taught him that loving someone means watching them burn. literally. hdbâs flashbacks show the moment burning itself straight into his nervous system. thatâs why he freezes at fireâitâs not fear, itâs a trauma loop snapping shut. his body remembers the grief long before his mind can form words
so shuâs coping mechanism? stillness. apathy. convince himself nothing matters so he never has to face the crater edgar left behind. even the violin becomes a kind of emotional autopilotâhabit, not passion. something to fill the emptiness without touching it
and when reiji finally drops the truth about his role in the burning of yumaâs village, it catalyzes the manservant ending (my beloved) where shuâafter all the paralysis, avoidance, and emotional taxâfinally snaps into motion. he handles reijiâs green-with-envy ass and then, more importantly, takes care of yui. sheâs blind, she needs help moving around, and he stays. he shows up. king behavior
which brings me to yui. sheâs not a cure or miracle. sheâs simply the one person who isnât intimidated by the silence. she meets his avoidance with patience, his apathy with gentle persistence. she doesnât recoil when he teases or when he retreatsâshe stays steady without the weight of expectation, which is something shu has literally never experienced
when he freezes at fire, she doesnât call it weaknessâshe reassures him. when he plays the violin, she doesnât treat it like performanceâshe treats it like him, a fragile part of his interior he lets slip through the cracks
thatâs why their dynamic works: yui doesnât try to change him, but she shifts the landscape of his self-imposed isolation without even meaning to. shu doesnât heal, but he lets her in in ways he doesnât with anyone elseâand thatâs the most intimate thing he can give. in hdb, this is as close to love as he knows
ultimately, shuyui isnât loud or dramatic. itâs slow, introspective, made of tiny permissions he grants her without realizing it. a tired boy who copes by disappearing, and a determined girl who refuses to let him fade
