The Ultimate Tsundere Stray

Kaworu grins as the cat trots towards him. Finally, an animal that doesn’t take off when he’s within ten yards of it! He rests his palms on his knees as he squats.

The cat immediately latches onto his sock and starts absolutely screaming. Kaworu’s eyes are abnormally wide, and he loses his balance in shock, falling onto his ass as the cat continues to paw his socks and screech. 

“Is this normal for cats?” he asks himself, honestly not knowing the answer. Being a child of Adam, most animals found his disturbing and avoided him at all costs. So maybe this cat really wasn’t normal. 

The furball’s excitement over finding the familiar person who can bring it out of this sorry state soon gives way to disappointment. Not only can this person not understand a thing, but his bumbling reaction convinces the cat no relief will be found here.

Frustration and disappointment over the inability of this iteration the angel to comprehend him boils over and the phantom feline’s demanding calls way to the enraged, desperate cries of a lost spirit.

Offers of food ignored, the cat -claws drawn out- crawls up knees to the silverette’s shirt, staring him down face to face and then proceeding to verbally abuse the poor helpless angel. Demonic shreiks fly as the ghost-cat rants about everything from it’s miserable life as a human to the incompetent angel being unable to speak cat like all those other times before.

Awuuuuugh....

The girl sits in the Tokyo-3 park, a package of fish and chips on her lap. Every so often, her grey-furred tail or ears will twitch, the whispers on her cheeks pulling back to avoid being stained with grease and oil.

So far, nobody’s questioned her about them– one of the advantages of being known as ‘the weird girl’. Mari’s in the middle of another bite of fish, when her cat senses go off. Chewing, the girl turns her head to the side, looking down at something– or someone– beside the bench.

"Uh... What? ...Why do you think I did anything to your stuff all those other times... I-I mean-”

“Humph, n-never mind stuff from the past! How could you just sit out there like that when you’re stuck that way?” Head turned away from the bench after the inadvertent admission of guilt, the brat still manages to pars over the cat like pilot, eyes flickering all over the very catlike features.

Kaworu almost doesn’t notice the cat, until he spots movement out of the corner of his eye and cocks his head to the side, almost certain he saw something.

The cat appears from behind a bag of garbage, and his eyebrows raise. Oh, it’s a cat. His stomach does a little flip - cats remind him of his first day above ground, of his first failure to recognize how Lilin behave. Now that he’s acquainted with emotion, he feels remorse for that cat. He surely won’t treat this one the same.

Ears flattening at the mention of ‘“weirdo”, the furball slinks behind the hedgehog and bites him in the ankle, hard.

        he pauses. perceptive as usual, he is well-aware of the eyes boring into his back. the hair on his nape prickles, but he does not falter, instead whipping around on his heel to see—

       —… a tiny black cat.

And yowls…

The window is summarily opened. A nest of fluffy pillows is placed beneath it. A red carpet lined pet ramp comes floating in to connect said window sill and floor. 

…Kitty neck with a very expensive looking necklace wrapped around.

In the day time they’re Kaworu and Shinji, by night they’re… Karl and Shaun.
