sangkimaneo:
Sangki’s tears were slow to stop once he truly started crying, yet the dryad cried quietly with only small noises escaping him periodically. He found that crying was the easiest way to calm the swirl of emotions and let the tension leave his body. Was it pretty? Definitely not. Sangki knew he wasn’t a pretty crier. So, looking up at his older brother he knew his honey eyes were bloodshot and his cheeks were flushed. At least he had the motivation to shower that morning so his blue hair was fluffy and styled nicely.
“You were bored?” Sangki asked. His confusion was was clear in the way his brows furrowed and even then the more Iseul spoke the deeper his brows went. Something hot and jealous took a hold of him. Part of him was thrilled to hear his brother finding someone to love and marry. Had either of them stayed at Court they would have been married off to high born drayd women with the understanding they would carry on the royal line with children. Yet, the bitterness inside Sangki bubbled up and squashed everything. “Lovely of you to have the option,” he said through clenched teeth. The younger dryad finally turned away from his brother and went back to his now cold food waiting for him on the table. He plopped down into a seat and brought his food closer to him fully ignoring Iseul as he chewed.
He knew he was being petty. Every part of Sangki should be happy but he hoped Iseul could cut him some slack. A thousand years was a long time to go without seeing any family. Eventually, the younger wiped his face and motioned for Iseul to sit down across from him. “I’m sorry,” he mumbled. “It’s been a long time and I’m still,” he motioned with his hand, “trying to work through some things. This is a lot…I’m happy to see you but it’s a lot. Honestly, I really believed once I was banished I’d never see any of you again.”
Iseul hated to see his brother cry. Especially after all this time. But then, the emotions were turning into anger, and Iseul couldn’t help but to sigh. He wasn’t surprised. After all, he had had a choice. Sangki... not so much. He didn’t try to defend himself, didn’t even try to follow after Sangki when he sat down. It hurt, of course. It hurt to notice the bitterness when ultimately, Iseul wanted to see his little brother again. But he knew that the other had to be angry for them to talk anymore again. So, he watched him, letting out a sigh, before sitting back in his own seat to eat his own noodles.
It was an awkward silence, of course. Iseul glancing to Sangki every now and then, until finally, he was motioned to sit in front of Sangki. He smiled weakly, do as he was told, and sitting across from his little brother. “It’s fine,” he said quietly, biting his lip. “It isn’t fair what happened to you,” he began softly, “Isn’t fair what happened to any of us,” he continued, mentioning the prank, but only barley. He looked down to his empty noodle container. He sighed. “I’m not expecting you to be entirely happy to see me,” he soothed softly, “It has been a while, and after all, we didn’t leave on a good note. But... I have missed you...” Iseul shifted in his seat, reaching out a hand to gently touch Sangki’s. He gave it a squeeze. “I wasn’t the big brother that I should have been all those years ago. I should have said something, but we were all still so young,” he explained softly, “It isn’t fair. What mother and father did to you.”
