Rachel, there is a thing that drives me insane and you don't do this thing b/c you are the best writer but I have to vent somewhere. It drives me absolutely batshit crazy when I read things like "the taller boy" or "the younger boy" OVER AND OVER in fic instead of just a name or pronoun. Especially when it's from a writer who is otherwise really good. And I feel like such a dick for saying it and I'm really not trying to be but GOD WHY DO THEY DO THIS RACHEL? It can ruin a perfectly good story.
that’s such a huge pet peeve of mine; using any descriptive bit instead of their actual name is just ugh. like we as the readers will know who is younger, who is taller, who has blue eyes, who has green eyes, who has black hair, etc. we don’t need that whenever the character in question speaks. it’s so much easier to just say their name
