After thinking it over for a few days, some thoughts over the Viacom trademark registration of “TMNT next chapter”:
It could be a Rise continuation, as it wouldn’t make sense to start off an entirely new iteration of tmnt with the term “next chapter” but who knows 🤷🏻♀️.
If it is a new series the crew working on it knows they have to step their game up since I’m sure they’re (or will quickly become) very aware of Rise’s popularity and reputation in how they broke the mold of telling the turtles story, world building and characterization.
It’s also a new opportunity to incorporate characters and story lines from the idw series, which is what excites me the most because idw is so great and I believe it can be easily adapted to fit the needs of a kid friendly audience while also incorporating the amazing plot and character developments that will attract older audiences and the portion of the fandom that only reads the comics.
Just the potential to see a character like Alopex adapted into a future tmnt series at least as a recurring/supporting character rather than just a one-off character that looked nothing like her like she was portrayed in the 2012 series is just *Chefs kiss*. Or even a villain like Old Hob or the Mutanimals.
Ultimately, I just hope whatever this new project turns out to be it’s in 2d animation. The art direction in Rise is so gorgeous this new project at should at the very least keep that in mind.
