We've all heard of and maybe been left behind by someone who vanished

Car left along the highway, engine still warm and possessions left behind

A boat floating anchored, food on the table and cabin lights on , but not a single soul aboard

House left empty, refrigerator running, TV still on, back door left open

What is like to dissappear?

Did it hurt ? Knife blades in innocent flesh? The smell of dirt and dead leaves and blood ? A cry that was buried in upturned earth, never to be heard again ?

Was it peaceful? A breath of fresh air as you walk? Freedom from the chains of before? An escape from the cage that held you ?

We're you taken? Life ripped away from you by rough hands ? Eyes wide as you're carried elsewhere? The smell of a car unfamiliar as the tree grew distant?

Do you regret it ? Are you out there ? Regretting it ? Do you miss the people you left behind ? Can you miss the people you left behind ? Do you know they miss you ? Are you there ? Alive and well ? Or hiding in moist dirt never to be found again?

Did they do something to you ? Hide you ? Kill you ? Destroy your existence? Or has the fate that befallen you one that's worse than death ?

Often death is the most peaceful awnser.

I like to think , as foolish as I am, that there's a place where all those who have vanished go, where their needs are met and they are happy and they know they are loved and protected.

Where nothing bad happened , no pain , no suffering, lifted and carried like a hurt stray cat to a warm house

And maybe I'm a fool , for believing in such loving things when this world has proven to hold no love as such

And maybe I'll be foolish enough one day

To stop the car

To take the dive into the water

To run out the backdoor
