( her strength. i'm not not necessarily talking in a sense of physical strength ( though it's certainly not excluded ), but in heart and mind.  aveline is one of his closest friends ( i would argue that her and hawke are as close as her and varric, imo ) and he's seen her go through a lot.  what, with losing her home, watching ppl die in the blight, watching/having to kill her husband ect ect.  she's so strong and nobel and not once has she given up on others, or hawke for that matter.  trust is such a limited thing for hawke to give, but he trusts aveline, no matter what.  perhaps this isn't doing the definition "attractive" any justice, but he finds her courage and strength so attractive. )
