Thank you for this very thought out and valuable ask that will truly enlighten me on the true nature of the FNV companions. So deep. I shall fulfill it-

Boone- He wouldn’t hesitate to shoot the Courier in their kneecap to stop them. He’d find the whole situation very annoying.

Rex- BARK WOOF WOOF WOOF BARK BARK BARK BARK WOOF

Raul- Raul would be so exhausted he’d probably just ignore them, but after a while, he’d be a little impressed. They were breaking it down, and even he could respect that.

Arcade- Arcade would be the big nerd he is and probably know the dance as well, all “Oooh yes, the old-world ‘anime’ know as Jojo’s Bizarre Adventure, yes, I read it in the followers’ archives.....” he would totally dance it with them.

Veronica- She also probably had heard of the anime and would be too embarrassed to admit it. After the courier stopped dancing she’d probably walk up all shy and be like “I...I like that anime too UwU.”

Cass- If Cass is drunk (which she usually is) she’d probably bust into like...a line dance or some cowboy shit and just break it down with them, unaware that they’re doing a dance from something.

ED-E- ED-E’s radio would start playing the song.

SFW HEADCANONS

- Being one of the only boys in the vault who wasn’t in his gang, Lone would be a target of Butch’s bullying. Butch would try and tease him but found it was hard to really get a rise out of the guy.

- Part of their insults would include some bigotry, calling Lone “gay” as an insult and making homophobic remarks in his direction. Butch would normally be the only one who laid on these comments.

- Lone was normally unbothered by their comments. He always seemed very comfortable with himself, not to mention having a supportive father who helped him work out his identity issues. Butch wouldn’t acknowledge it- but he was deeply jealous of Lone for this.

- Butch would realize the way he admired Lone after he helped save his mom during the vault crisis. The way he put aside his grudges to help him was really kind, and Butch realized the potential of being friends with Lone. Of course, this doesn’t last, as lone has to leave the vault.

- When Lone returns weeks later to chaos, he still is calm and collected. Butch finds himself excited to see him again- but tries not to show it. He has a terrible poker face.

- When they meet again outside the vault, in Rivet City, Butch is drunk and happy as can be. He totally drapes himself over Lone, talking about all the good times they could have as the tunnel snakes in the wasteland. He’s totally embarrassed by it the next day but Lone still lets him tag along.

- Being out of the vault, Butch would be a lot more comfortable with being himself. Part of being himself turns out to be totally crushing on Lone.

- Butch likes to think people don’t see them as a couple, but they are so obvious everywhere they go. Lone will have his arm around Butch’s waist, they stand close together, hold hands. No one thinks they’re “just friends.”

- Butch gets jealous really easily. All it takes is Lone smiling while talking to another man/woman for Butch to get all pouty. The signs are always really obvious to Lone, and he’ll quickly give him a kiss on the cheek or hug to remind him that Butch is the only one Lone loves.

- It takes a while for Butch to warm up to the idea of sex with another man. A lot of internalized homophobia stops him from doing what he wants to do. It takes time and lots of intimate conversations with Lone for him to really get comfortable with who he is and his desires.

- Butch says he’s a switch, but they both know he’s a bottom. He likes to act tough, but when push comes to shove, lone is always on top. Butch’s upbringing never really allowed him to put his needs first, and being able to just be vulnerable and open with his lover is a wonderful release for him.

- He’s a big-time moaner and has embarrassed the two of them on multiple occasions. Noise complaints are not uncommon. There have been times when Lone had to put his hand over Butch’s mouth so they could fuck without getting caught. Other times, sometimes Sole like’s the adrenaline rush from knowing people can hear them and will let Butch yell out while they do it.

- Butch will leave scratches all over lone. His back looks like a war zone. But in return, Lone hickeys up Butch’s neck. He likes to leave them in high up places so others can see, no matter how embarrassed Butch gets because of it.

KISSES W/ SWANK - Swank is a chairman, down to his heart. Everything he does is in that schmoozy personality of his, and so are his kisses. When Swank kisses, he loves to tease his partner. Nibbling their lip, coy touches with his tongue, and he likes to see his partner either smile or get flustered. He’d wrap his hands around them, maybe going for a sly little butt squeeze. He loves a bubbly partner who responds to his teasing with high energy. 

KISSES W/ TOMMY TORINI - Tommy is a romantic, as well as very theatrical. He likes to gently grab his partner’s waist, maybe also hold their cheek, and gently kiss them. If he’s a little excited, that kiss maybe a little french. He whispers “baby” a lot to his partner as they kiss, always grinning that contagious smile of his. His hands would be brushing their cheek, warming their side, doing anything to stir a heat in his partner. He loves for every kiss to be like it was a stage performance, and this drama well explains his job at the Tops.

Benny was flipping a cigar in his fingers, slouched in an armchair in his apartment. The courier was sipping the mug of coffee she had made, curled up in her robe on the couch across from him. “Hey, doll...I got a question.”

“Yeah?” The courier looks up at him with a smile, radiating her usual positive energy.

“I, uh...when we met, why weren’t you angry?” Benny puts the cigar down in the ashtray and holds his hands in his lap.

“Oh? Well, I guess I’m just not a very angry person. I knew you didn’t shoot me for any sort of personal reason it was just...business.”

“Yeah, but it was still a pretty shitty thing to do.” Benny ran a hand through his hair, “I really don’t feel like I deserve your forgiveness, baby.”

“You don’t have to feel like you deserve it. It was my choice to forgive you! And we’ve ended up a pretty valuable team.” The courier winked, and Benny couldn’t help but smile. She was so damn adorable.

“I guess you’re right. Sorry for gettin’ all damn mopey outta nowhere.” Benny picks up the cigar and lights it, putting it between your lips.

“You’re fine, Benny. You can be curious, I’m sure you weren’t the only one surprised by me.” The courier giggled, and Benny chuckled the same.

And with that, they went on with their morning as the Mojave’s strangest couple.

The morning was peaceful. Dawn broke over a quiet Commonwealth. Crows flew gracefully through the sky, which was painted in hues of orange and pink by the rising sun. The air was- an explosion shattered the silence.

The morning had been peaceful.

Hancock shot straight up out of bed at the sound, grabbing the dagger laying on the floor next to the mattress he had slept on. He squinted out the window. Seeing that there was no threat, he dropped the weapon and rubbed his tired eyes.

“Never a dull moment, huh, Commonwealth?”

The Commonwealth answered him with another explosion.

“Figures.”

He hoisted himself off off the springy mattress, stretching his stiff muscles and yawning. Glancing around the room, his eyes fell upon his clothes, discarded in various places. Seeing the crumpled fabric, his mind was sent back to the night before. His love in his arms for the first time. A small smile crept onto his face at the thought of it. However, with the flooding back of the memories came the realization that said “love” was nowhere to be seen.

“Hey, Sole?”

He peeked around the room, looking for a sign of her. Her clothes were gone, along with her pack. Hancock sighed, disappointment darkening his mood. He had really thought that he was more than some one night stand to her. He guessed he was mistaken.

Sullenly, he began to get dressed, dusting off his frock coat and swinging it over his shoulders. He shuffled towards the bathroom with the intent to freshen up a bit.

Someone yelped as he began to push the door open.

“Agh!” he jumped back at the noise, getting ready to fight.

Hancock was surprised when he heard the bathroom-occupant start laughing.

“Sole?” he dropped his fists, stepping forward into the bathroom.

And there she was, in an old bathrobe, clutching her sides as laughter shook out of her.

“You… you should’ve seen the look on your face!” she could barely get the words out.

Tenseness bled out of him and he slowly started laughing along with her. They both wiped at the tears in their eyes, slowly managing to calm down.

“You were in here the whole time?”

“Yeah,” Sole answered, exhaling slowly as she got her breathing back under control, “Wanted to see how long it’d take you to find me. Thought I’d try to scare you.” She gave him a cheeky grin.

“Well, ya got me. Was ready to take you down before I knew it was just you.”

“Take me down, huh? I’d like to see you try,” she stepped closer to him, reaching out to pat his cheek, a mock pout on her face, “Were you really scared I’d left you?”

“Come on,” he brushed her hand away, “You know nothin’ scares me.”

“Oh, really? ‘Cause you looked pretty scared a second ago.”

“Nah, that’s just called bein’ prepared for a fight at any moment.”

“Ah, of course it is,” sarcasm dripped from her words, “Either way, you don’t need to worry about me leaving. I don’t know what I’d do without my favorite traveling companion.”

“S’pose I shouldn’t have doubted you,” Hancock stepped closer to her, gently cupping her cheek, “Besides, who would ever wanna leave me?”

Sole rolled her eyes but leaned in, wrapping her arms around him. Despite his bony appearance, his hugs were always warm and soft.

“I’m glad you’re here,” he whispered as he pulled her in tighter.

“Sap,” she responded, a small smile on her face.

Hancock released her, sighing.

“Guess we should start to pack up, huh? Can’t stay here forever, as much as I’d like to.”

“Already? You’re no fun.”

“No fun?” Hancock feigned a gasp, “Trust me, sunshine, if it’s fun you’re wanting, I’ve got that for days.”

“Oh? Prove it.”

“Done.”

In one smooth motion, Hancock picked her up, carrying her bridal style towards the beat-up couch at the back of the studio apartment they had decided to shack up in for the night. Sitting down with her, he proceeded to shower her in kisses, to which she responded with hearty laughs. He pulled back, smiling down at her.

“You’re really somethin’ else, ya know that?”

Sole merely looked back up at him, her eyes full of affection. Through the time they’d spent together - traveling through the Commonwealth, fighting at each other’s side - she’d slowly fallen in love with him. She pulled him back down, planting a soft kiss on his lips, hoping that that could convey all the words that went unsaid. Pulling back, something in his eyes said that he understood.

“Not to be… overly sappy here but… however long you need me at your side, I’ll be there, okay?” His voice was vulnerable and soft.

She snuggled into him, Hancock’s arms moving to wrap around her. For the first time in a long time, she felt safe. And feeling safe in this world was something rarer than a blue moon. She’d never let him go.
