"What have they done to you?"
(Sent by @make-it-missy but since Tumblr doesn't let me send asks from my secondary blog... -_-)
He flinched as he saw her, though his reaction was delayed as the anaesthesia had only just worn off. By now, Campbell had learnt that someone coming in was always bad news.
“Uh- uhm- what?” he croaked, throat dry.
He was still strapped to the table, naked. He was covered in bruises and hastily applied bandages where they’d harvested bone marrow - his upper arms and legs, his pelvis. The syringes as well as the bone drill they’d used were still on a platter next to him.
@make-it-missy
At first, he was just confused.. and then that slowly moved towards horrified. “Oh, sex es. Absolutely gross. Dun worry, jeez, no! That’s-” Not any of her business, actually. “Why are ye talkin’ about me like I’m an animal an’ unable tae luk after m’self?”
Wait, live here? Cam narrowed his eyes a little, looked at her for a moment. He couldn’t tell what she was thinking, why she was offering him this. On the other hand.. this was a bit interesting, and definitely better than being a revolving door patient for the rest of his life. And, hey, she had called him pretty.
“There’s prescription medication that I take daily,” he informed and then, just to check if she could tell if he was bullshitting: “Coffee, sugar. Ice cream.“.
Missy lowered her arm, but the device was still in Bain’s direction, as a reminder of the second option, if he’d rather not stay.
She didn’t waste her time answering to his question, she already knew how it would end. The young man would get upset, his ego hurt as she’d explain that he was, indeed, an animal.
And not even the most evolved one.
Howewer, alike people could be fond of dogs, the Time Lady may have been amused by humans intelligence, sometimes. Only ever in a condescending way.
“Coffee, sugar, ice cream.” She repeated, monotonous. “I will make a stock of it in the reserve. Anything else?”
It didn’t hit her as odd. After all, humans needed to maintain careful sugar levels in their blood, and coffee had several effects on their behavior.
Then, it was vital for some of them. It wasn’t much of stretch in her mind.
@heretoboogie
Oh, she was falling for it? Cam’s mouth quirked into a smile. “Oatmeal, custard. I’m prolly fergetting sumthin’, I’ll let ye know.”
He cocked his head. “Uh, also clean clothes. Can we swing by my place? I’ll need tae get my meds anyway.”
Missy rolled her eyes, but she still typed the list of the human’s needs. They were such vulnerable things, not alike poppies. Quick and easy to be killed but so numerous that the species survived.
She left her armchair and walked to the wall, opening a panel and linking her Vortex Manipulator to a wire. She wasn’t going to move the TARDIS only for a quick trip on Earth. “Give me the address. I suppose ‘your place’ isn’t the shady hospital I found you in.”
Once the device had enough energy and even spare, she closed the panel and wrapped it around her wrist again.
@heretoboogie
“No, no def’nitely not.” Cam gave her his address, hesitated before adding: “Ye know, usually.. I’m pretty sure I should be worried. But ye got me out of bein’ experimen’ed on, sae I guess tha’s arright.” His parents had always nagged and nagged on about not giving out personal details to strangers.
His place turned out to be a little flat. The furniture had clearly already been there when Campbell had moved in. The mess, though, was his. “Won’t be a minute!” he promised, then darted off to the bedroom to get a suitcase and pack some essentials. He couldn’t take everything, sadly, and had to pick between a few favourite sweaters. Cam picked the ones that made him happiest, which were probably the ones Missy would find the most tasteless. Toiletries, medication, an extra pair of shoes-
Campbell paused as he was about to announce he was all done, then asked: “Dun s’pose I can take my plants?”
How... Awful was Bain's den. The furnitures were plain and dull, as the cheap ones being built on repeat to fullfill as many human's needs for tables and chairs as possible.
From what Missy could see, obviously. Because most of it was covered in, well, mess. Was it a toothbrush?
The Time Lady was carefully stepping around, waiting for the young man to be done gathering his belongings. "Plants? Why would you need plants?" She scoffed, folding her arms in front of her chest. "If you're interested in gardening, you may collect some along the way, but I doubt they'd survive the trip back with the Vortex Manipulator, anyway."

When the Doctor heard there may have been a Time Lord on the planet Milten Seven, of course he went to investigate right away. He landed the TARDIS and walked right out of it and had only been exploring a little bit when he ran into a strange woman who immediately pointed a weapon of some sort at him. He didn’t recognize what the weapon was, but could tell it was a weapon none the less, so he raised his hands in surrender.
“I was just making my way through,” he told the strange woman, “Is there something you want?”
Visit Milten Seven, they said.
It will be a relaxing holiday, they said.
And that’s how Missy found herself unable to leave the planet, after her TARDIS was reduced to ashes during the civil war she landed in the middle of.
Her hair was a mess of tangled curls and her purple dress was shredded. Apparently, vaporising an entire population away was more difficult than it seemed - impossible, actually - but if she hoped to ever leave that damned and endless beach of black sand, she had to figure a way to steal their technology.
So when in a dark alley, someone who was clearly not a local, almost bumped into her, Missy had every reason to threaten him with her device:
“Yes, there is. How did you come here? Bring me to your ship. Right now.”
@thedoctornumber11
“I don’t have a ship,” he lied, keeping his hands up as she pointed the weapon at him, “What happened to yours?” While he wasn’t super familiar with the people of the planet, it was quite obvious she didn’t belong. He looked at her. He wasn’t sure what other weapons she might be carrying with her, but he figured it would be easiest to go along with whatever she might have planned for now and maybe figure out why she was there. “It’s a long story, but I’m stuck here. I may be able to help fix yours, although it would certainly be a lot easier with out a weapon pointed at me. What’s your name?”
The stranger was oddly quiet, despite being currently threatened. When he confessed he was stuck on the planet, though, her arm lowered slowly. “Useless idiot.” She whispered, her hope to leave with his ship vanishing in front of her eyes. She would have killed him out of disappointment if she didn’t need to save the device’s energy.
“I couldn’t fix my ship, you will obviously be unable to. Not that there’s enough of it left to be fixed.”
The Time Lady pushed a curl back behind her ear before saying: “I’m Missy. Welcome to Hell.”
@thedoctornumber11
“What do you mean not enough left to be fixed?” he asked her, now quite curious, “I’m quite good at fixing things. I’m the Doctor,” he smiled, although he kept his hands up slightly as she still had the weapon slightly pointed at him. He wasn’t too worried about it as he’d easily regenerate but he was quite curious about her. She seemed oddly familiar and he wanted to know more.
I’m the Doctor.
The confession stayed as an echo in her mind, bouncing on the walls of her skull. She quickly recovered his cold, emotionless expression but a smirk had stretched her lips.
“My ship has been destroyed. Reduced to melted wires. There’s a war here, if you haven’t noticed.”
What was the probability she would encounter the Doctor on this planet? It was close to none.
@thedoctornumber11
“A war in this part of the galaxy means space ships,” the Doctor pointed out, “Crashed space ships. Crashed space ships mean parts. If your ship has been reduced to melted wires then I probably can’t fix that, but I think we can probably find enough different parts from enough different ships to make a ship for you, but you’ll have to stop pointing your weapon at me. You aren’t exactly in a spot where you can just take me prisoner or anything like that, so you might as well lower the weapon.”
The Time Lady observed him quietly a few seconds, then lowered her device after having decided she wasn't doing it because he had asked, but because there was no point in threatening him at this instant. They had bigger issues in their hands.
"Exactly, you can build a ship from parts, but so can I. I wouldn't have needed you if it had been my plan."
Howewer, there was no way he could build a time ship out of nothing. After having smoothed a fold of her dress, she grinned.
"Let's sneak in their fortress instead. They probably have advanced technology, or advanced enough to improve my future crafted ship."
@thedoctornumber11

It had been a few weeks since Phileas had been traveling with Missy, and he had seen so much that would of taken up his entire life. He got to see the future of Earth. Not only that, he had seen also the past of Earth. And traveled past the stars into different worlds that can be imagined by man in stories. He could of written everything that he saw into a book.
Throughout that time, he had gotten to know Missy more. She was certainly not like other women that she met. Not even like Abigail or Estella. More like she had a mad side to her. With how she dealt with things. How she approached people with her attitude In the meantime, he knew he couldn’t change who she was. So he just accepted it. Even thought it wasn’t the sort of behavior he was used to. Though he didn’t truly know her. All he knew that this woman was not from Earth, and one day he decided to travel off with her. Maybe he should of put more thought into his decision instead of just running off.
One day however, his curiosity got the best of him. Deciding to investigate the mysteries of this ship he was on. At first, he just walked down the ‘very’ long corridor. As he was tracking his footsteps, he then realized that the rooms kept switching on him. Even the corridor behind him wasn’t there anymore. He was officially lost.
Phileas grew silent. He frowned in horror by her words. A great urge of guilt filled him up quickly, regretting the words that came out of his mouth. She did make some good points. Like horse pulling wagons. Or people serving other people. They were all put into labor for process. This made him realize that he wasn’t any better than she was. He was one of those humans that took advantage of this. Now he felt ashamed.
“Missy, I…” He tried to get the word out to her, seeing the anger. Though, it scared him by how calm she was. He didn’t know which was the worse to deal with. To gather his courage, he took a deep breath before speaking up.
“Missy, I didn’t mean to snap at you like that. I apologize for my behavior just now.” He began to say to her. “I was put into shock and took it out on you. And…” He suddenly paused by the last comments she said. The colors drained from his face.
“You…destroyed your home?”
Finally, she had spoken sense into the mind of Phileas, who started to apologize. It didn't soften her features, but she kept her hand extended for him to take - until his expression changed and his complexion, usually healthy and pinkish, became pale.
Which meant his body was currently triggering a 'fight or flight' answer, driving blood where it mattered the most for the survival of the human, the vital organs and the muscles.
...Which meant she was seen in his ape brain as a threat. It wasn't exactly wrong, but it was disappointing, considering she wasn't currently threatening him.
"It depends on the meaning of 'home' you are thinking about. Was I born on Gallifrey, raised and educated there, among my kind? Yes. Was it a warm home? No."
Her arm lowered, the Time Lady stepped back, her blue eyes still focused on the man.
"And yes, I destroyed it. The entire planet, erased from the Universe. I watched it burn with glee. Now that I think about it..." She pondered. "It has ever only been peaceful while burning."

“Most people would send flowers, but he’s sumthin’ special then?” Campbell still couldn’t tell if she was joking or serious, but so far she hadn’t hurt him, despite her harsh words. If he just viewed it as some big joke he would maybe deal with it more easily, anyway.
That was why he rolled his eyes when she started talking about acids. “Dun be daft, I mean fer yer carpet. My nan used et when th'cat puked on hers: put et on, leave et a night, then vaccuum et up.” He supposed he could technically use another acid too, if she had it, but she probably wouldn’t appreciate hole in her carpet.
He sat up from his scrubbing and looked at her with a thoughtful frown on her face. “When ye say ‘you’…. d'ye mean people? Or me specific? Or mental health patients, 'cause I’m losin'ye a li'l bit.”
"Very special, indeed. Scrub harder."
Missy didn't reply to Bain - not that she was listening his speech about cats. Her attention was focused on the device she was holding. It was only when the repetitive noises of the carpet being cleansed stopped, that she lifted her head and offered a glance to the boy.
"Of humans, and of you specifically. If you have any conditions requiering special care, I advice you to tell me. Now. I'll find out regardless." She stared, watching his body up and down as if she was just remembering an upsetting, annoying detail. "Are you sexually mature? I'd rather not have to deal with your heats, or eggs laying, or anything alike. It's plainly gross."
After a pause, and a disdain showing on her face, she added: "If I let you live here, I should know how to maintain you alive."
The Time Lady leaned back in her armchair, and slowly aimed the human with her device. "Or you choose to leave, and that wonderful technology will teleport you back to your nest." She lied with a grin. If she pressed the button, the young man would be vaporised. "Your pick, pretty."

Phileas couldn’t believe the words coming out of Missy’s mouth. Actually, it was her calmness and eagerness of the entire situation that was alarming to him. It looked like she was making a joke out of it as well. How could she be okay with all of this? The beat of his heart increased with the heaviness in his chest. He reached his hand over it to grasp it.
“You’re telling me that you helplessly dragged that being into this ship. And for what? To use to control this ship!” He started to scream out without realizing it. “I’m not worry for me! I’m worried for that creature! How could you use it? Trapped and making it harvest the power?! That’s sick! No! It’s torture!”
He panted before he had to force himself to sit down. Finally getting the words out of his chest. He knew what she did to that alien creature was wrong, but he shouldn’t of yell at her like that.
The joy in Missy's hearts disappeared as Phileas started to scream. She had opened up, told a plan she had been proud of, and expected the human to understand the elation she had felt when she locked the creature on the ship.
Instead, he was furious.
Of course, the Time Lady closed, hid her sentiments under a thick layer of strenght and arrogance, and turned on the defensive.
"My deepest apologies, I hadn't realized you held such high morals." She replied, without raising her voice but with a cold, sharp tone. "You say I shouldn't use the energy of that creature to travel, right? I shall hope you never sat in a carriage. After all, they are pulled by horses. Wheels and leather harvesting their energy."
Missy walked to the end of the corridor, to close the door leading to the control room.
"I shall also hope you never used oil or gasoline, or coal. If you worry so much about morals, you should consider those sorts of fuel, costed countless lives. The ones of the humans collecting it, and the ones of the beings poisoned by the pollution the so-called fuels caused."
The Time Lady looked to Phileas coldly, as if the fragile bond they had shared until now had collapsed. "You are right, though. How could I?" She mimicked Phileas mockingly. After a silence, she offered her hand for him to take, as well as a serious expression.
"I didn't even flinch, Mr. Fogg. I destroyed my homeworld, wiped out what was left of my kind - A shrieking motor won't make me feel queasy."

Lost in the TARDIS//Make-It-Missy
@make-it-missy
The TARDIS had welcomed the human, when he came aboard. It fullfilled its duties, carrying the members of the crew, and keeping them safe as they traveled through the Vortex. It translated strange languages from the planets they landed on. It changed its exterior shape not to be noticed by the natives. It even guided the man wherever he needed to go in the TARDIS, which was always and inevitably leading Phileas to his bedroom.
Today, though, the human’s wish wasn’t to rest after a long adventure, nor to shower after having been spat on by giant frogs. And so, the TARDIS leaded him deeper inside. It dutifully brought him, through many doors, to the place he was unconsciously hoping to reach.
The corridors were getting darker, as they were luring Phileas deeper inside, to the motor of the TARDIS.
It was what he wanted, wasn’t it? Figuring out how such a machine could exist, what wonderful energy it was using to travel in Time and Space!
The motor was inside a wide room, with a high ceiling. It was kept inside a thick glass tube, linked to countless wires and pipes, seemingly littering the floor and carrying the energy to the rest of the ship, harvesting it relentlessly.
And the motor was alive.
It vaguely looked humanoid, but it was constantly changing, shifting forms. It was old and it was young, it was a skeleton and it was flesh, it had four and it had twenty limbs, but regardless, it was kicking out. It was trying to escape. It was in pain. Its body kept phasing in and out of existence, solid an instant, smoke the next, cloud of particles swirling in the containment field. It twisted and it struggled, it swirled and it screamed.
It shrieked with perpetual agony.
@time-travel-muses
Phileas stepped into the wide room when it opened to him. It was like the ship wanted him to find it. But why? As he pondered upon it, he searched around the room till he caught sight of something across from him.
So, this was the motor that was controlling the ship. Phileas crept closer to get a better look. But he soon regret it.
This was no ordinary motor. It was…alive? It looked almost human like, but it kept changing forms. Not only that, it seemed to be in pain. Like it was being tortured to work. Suddenly Phileas could feel his stomach drop, inching away from the trapped creature. It made him sick to think of this poor being being used like this. Did Missy knew about this? She must of! This was her ship, after all. He wobbled as he ran out of room.
What the hell was that? He muttered to himself, panting as he stopped in the middle of the corridor.
Missy had taken off her purple jacket, to be more comfortable as she worked on the panels controls in the corridors of the TARDIS. It wasn’t thrilling, but it was necessary. She checked everything worked as it was supposed to - or at least, functional.
To say she was surprised to hear Phileas behind her, panting and talking to himself, would be an understatement. She hadn’t seen him entering this corridor, but again, the TARDIS being functional was a success in itself. She wouldn’t go as far as to expect for her ship to keep the rooms in their rightful places.
“You got lost, didn’t you? It happens, sometimes. You will grow used to it. Remember: Panicking won’t help finding your way back and I can’t hear your screams.” The Time Lady said absently, slamming the metal panel shut with a hit of her wrench. “The TARDIS is soundproof.”
@time-travel-muses
It took Phileas a while to gather the nerves. He was still at a loss of words upon what he just witnessed. What could he say to her? Did he really just see that creature?
Upon her words, he was surprised. She thought he was lost, which was true. He had gotten himself lost. But there was more to it than just that. He took another moment to try to come up with something else to say. He didn’t realize till now that he was still shaking from the experience.
“I-I try to remember that, but..” He was stuttering upon his words, picking up a handkerchief from his front jacket pocket to wipe away the sweat that formed on his forehead.
“I-I came upon something in the control room. I wasn’t sure you sure aware of it.” He started off, hoping she didn’t have any idea what he was walking about. Or at least didn’t know the creature was back there in the first place. He badly wanted to believe this woman wasn’t as cruel to put that creature through torture.
Missy faced the human, who was still shaken up. He stumbled on his words, lost them and didn't seem quite able to express what had caused such emotions.
"You saw something while wandering in a Time Travel ship? Congratulations." She replied sarcastically. There was many... Elements in the TARDIS, that could cause fear and confusion to the man, and his stuttering didn't help reducing the possibilities.
She looked in the direction of the door he had left slighty open. The blurry light coming from it was familiar.
Oh.
"You came upon the motor." Missy stated casually, as she tied her wrench to her tool belt. "Not only I am aware of its existence, but I'm the one who dragged it here. It's brillant, isn't it?" After a pause, she realized what had shaken Phileas up, and reassured him: "Worry not for your safety, it can not hurt you. It's kept in a stasis field. It will never escape... Not that it will ever stop to try. I count on it."
The woman's icy blue eyes started to shine with pride, as she explained this wonderful, permanent, free TARDIS fuel, to an another being who was passionate about beautiful machineries.
"It has been genetically engineered - not by me, dear - to have biologically time-and-space-travel abilities. Clever, isn't it? It's a perpetual source of power for the TARDIS to harvest."

@make-it-missy
He stumbled back and blinked at her for a moment. “Wh-what th'hell?” Cam wiped his cheeks, because apparently he’d cried. He couldn’t remember when. Was he dissociating?
Cam steadied himself on the nearest piece of furniture, looked at Missy, who didn’t seem unaffected either. “Uhm.. y'arright?” He had the oddest feeling like they’d bumped into each other or something, couldn’t quite place it.
But he couldn’t remember that happening, just her hands on his head and- “What did ye dae?”
Missy’s palm was on her mouth, as she gathered herself and kept the flow of sentiments away. Bain’s question snapped her out of it. She lowered her hand, and so warded herself once more, her face wearing a neutral expression.
“I read your mind to learn what I needed.” She explained, walking past the young man to fuss over the dresses she had left on the armchair. “You aren’t a liar.” She said casually, as an apologie she stubbornly refused to give.
“Now, I’ll bring you back.”
The Time Lady would as well sent him to the slaughterhouse, if she did. The human was being mistreated, abused by his peers.
She wasn’t going to bother with a feeble, useless pet always getting in the way. She wasn’t good.
Then why wasn’t she vaporising him on the spot?
@heretoboogie
“Oh, shit. Uhm. Sorry, then. I get that would upset ye,” he murmured, obviously assuming that she must’ve seen something in his head that bothered her. Cam was upset too, actually. By the invasion of his privacy and the recent disregard of bodily autonomy - both by different people, but still.
But there was also something else, some emotion that kept echoing inside his chest, like a pingpong ball that wouldn’t stop hitting all the wrong places. “Sorry,” he murmured again, sniffed, then cleared his throat. “Ef I hurt ye, I’m sorry.”
He swallowed hard, chest feeling even tighter at the thought of having to go back. Campbell had resigned to his stay when he was there, as there was no way to leave, but now he was out - and going back was terrifying.
“What are ye gonna dae with th'information ye found?” He couldn’t imagine it was much. How had she read his mind anyway? And brought him here? Campbell had about a million questions but didn’t know where to start.
She had invaded his mind, and he apologized to her. He was dumber than she thought.
“Hurt me?” Missy let out a dry laugh. “How arrogant you are to think you can hurt me with your memories. I just found them pathetic.”
The Time Lady didn’t look to Bain while talking. She was tapping on the screen of her Vortex Manipulator, checking there was enough power left for a second travel. “I will steal the stem cells technology they are developping. I’ll figure an use out of it. To rule the world, most probably.”
Missy could have lied, but it wasn’t as if any humans would believe him, even if he revealed her secrets. And it had been a while since she last talked to someone. Her gaze ran in the room, and found the drying spot on her carpet.
“Wall on your right. First door. Cleaning supplies. Get rid of it.” She ordered sternly.
Maybe she’d have an use for him, finally. A reason to keep a willing ear around - and for once, an ear attached to a body.
@heretoboogie
He snorted a chuckle. As much as she tried to be hurtful, she didn’t have him figured out at all. “Ye dun haftae work sae hard tae show ye’re better ‘an me, that bar es pretty low.”
Campbell shuffled to the cupboard to get cleaning supplies. His mind was still awhirl and his body ached, but it was good to have a task. “Rule th'world? Sounds exhaustin’.” Luckily, it hadn’t dried into the carpet completely yet. Cam started scrubbing methodically. “Dun s'pose ye’ve got any baking soda lyin’ about?”
Missy's lips stretched in a genuine, amused smile, as he commented on her plan.
"What a girl wouldn't do to be noticed by her boyfriend?"
It was so far from the reality of her relationship with the Doctor, which was infinitively more complex. But, again, humans couldn't grasp it even if she described it in details - not that she ever would. No, it was too private to be talked about. It was only shared between her and him.
"I have different sorts of acids, if you'd like." The Time Lady stated idly. "Your skin would melt off with most of them."
She sat down in a velvet, purple armchair and lifted her feet on the pedestal table, while the young man was scrubbing her carpet. "Remind me what you need to survive." She asked after a while, grabbing an another device - which almost looked like a flip phone. "Oxygen, I know. Water - funny that your planet is mostly made of water you can not drink - food, any kind of it, sleep. Anything else?"

He was still strapped to the table, naked. He was covered in bruises and hastily applied bandages where they’d harvested bone marrow - his upper arms and legs, his pelvis. The syringes as well as the bone drill they’d used were still on a platter next to him.
@make-it-missy
He was just about to admit to himself that this was a really weird dream or hallucination because no way they were on a space ship. Cam had about a thousand other questions but then she called him a liar. His expression darkened instantly, hurt with a thin veneer of anger, and he shrunk into the hoodie.
“I’d like tae go now, please.” He’d taken what she’d said in stride before now, but now she was starting to scare him. Cam tried to shift back from her fingers, which felt cooler than they ought to be. Wasn’t this usually when you woke up from a nightmare. “Wait- what-?”
Whatever barrier was around his mind was of course flimsy and pitiful to her, and she dipped in as easily as submerging her hand into water. Once she was through, the surface of his mind was utter chaos, of course. Campbell was scared, and erratic at the best of times, and right now he was disoriented and hurting as well. Being called a liar not long before had pulled up memories - home, school, more hospitals. ’If you’re not willing to be honest with us, Mr Bain, then why should we help you?’
It wasn’t any efforts to enter the human’s mind. She had the occasional failures, but even the strongest will rarely resisted to her abilities. Still, it was surprising how easy it was to enter the young man’s memories.
Was it because of the meds, the endless anaesthesia injected in his body, the drugs keeping him feeble?
The calm water she slipped in became a furious storm. There was darkness and chaos, pictures freezing in place and flashing behind her eyes.
It was the reason why she only used mind control when she couldn’t avoid it - or when she lost patience.
The Time Lady couldn’t expect what was on the other side. There was fear, pain and distress. So much of it that she almost choked on the memories she couldn’t quite grasp. She saw white ceilings, over and over until they were all blurry. Being shoved against a wall to stop the chaotic energy inside. Voices, too. They were ringing inside her skull, shallow reminder of what the Drums once were.
Missy closed her eyes, to focus and not being absorbed by the spiral of, as the voice named, Bain’s mind.
“I am your Mistress, and you will obey me.” Her voice said it aloud, but so her mind did. With a honeyed tone, because if the young man didn’t calm down, she’d have to tear his mind apart to get what she wanted - and it would be as uncomfortable to her that it would be painful to him. “Show me the treatment. The basement, the drills. Show me when they brought you there, and why.”
@heretoboogie
He didn’t even notice she was there at first, too upset to pay attention to much else. Frankly, usually Cam ended up spiralling, getting lost in those emotions and memories for ages. His head was good at that, dragging up painful shit. Until he found something to distract him, anyway (because god forbid that he actually dealt with it in some way).
So, as a result, Missy’s query was actually a welcome focus to latch onto.
The first time they’d come to get him, he’d just been informed it was treatment. He’d felt so rotten afterwards though that he’d tried to refuse the second time. There had been other excuses then as they had tried to convince him at first. Experimental treatment needed the kinks worked out, it was to pay for his other treatment, he had signed up for this.. Ultimately, it wasn’t like he had a choice. They had the syringes with drugs, after all, and a patient shouting for help while getting stuck in the arse with a sedative was hardly going to turn any heads.
At first, there wasn’t a whole lot of useful info for the Time Lady at all, but there were bits and pieces that no doubt caught her attention. Logos, names on forms Cam had happened to see. It was true what he’d said: no one talked to him, but they talked over his head while he was half conscious. That they’d found a reliable partner in stem cell research on the other side of town that was all too happy with the samples they provided.
Finally, Bain let her know what she was trying to find. If the truth had to be told, he hadn't lied to her earlier. The important scraps of informations she obtained were exclusively from details the young man wouldn't have consciously remembered.
With the names and logos, she would be able to find the 'reliable partner', maybe by pretending she had samples of her own to sell, or by sneaking in, vaporising and stealing the technology hid there without a second thought.
Missy was still inside Bain's stormy mind. Finding the way back to the shore, when you have been swirled in a tempest isn't easy. Her fingers gently tapped on the side of the human's temples, grounding herself.
Fresh scent of Gallifrey's land threatened to let her rely on her own memories. As the human had been a guinea pig, so had she. There was a split of the loss of a best friend, a shard reflecting the Time Vortex, a flash of absolute loneliness before she tore herself away from Bain's mind, severing the connection.
Missy recoiled.
