I mean Eve is always upset because her dad is unaccepting of who she is and is pretty emotionally abusive; all while her mother doesn’t do enough to help Eve. Meanwhile, she didn’t get the chance to really get to know her actual birth family and the doctor that created her. And that entire event was so traumatizing for her — she just turned 14! — that her mental blocks stopped working. That entire event was so fucked up already, but her birth family + doctor Brandyworth meant so much to her immediately because family as a concept means so much to Eve by then because Eve is isolated.

She literally has no friends before and after Val. She only has Rex a while after the Atom Eve special, but then Rex is constantly cheating on her and abusing her trust. Then Kate also sleeps with Rex. Eve just gets fucked over so many times by the people that mean something to her.
