Heba whimpered slightly as he heard the roll of the thunder in the distance. Head buried in the pillow and a blanket thrown carelessly over his head he tried to block the sounds and flashes out, not wanting to deal with the fear that always came with these storms.
Flashes of his childhood played in his head like an old drama film and tried to ignore them, squeezing his eyes tighter. Where was someone when he needed them? How come ever time one of these storms came to pass no one was ever around?
Together, with someone he could somewhat handle them, but alone he was as useless as a abandoned cat. Left alone in an ally to sob.
Ears flattening completely against his head, his shaking tail wrapped around him and he tightened himself into an even small ball. Perhaps if he was lucky, it would pass right over them.
Perhaps under normal circumstances, Mahaad would have kept to his own universe; he knew perfectly well how to travel across dimensions, but rarely took advantage of that knowledge in favor of enjoying the modern world he currently lived in.
But circumstances weren't normal, and his little master had been exponentially more worried than he likely needed to be about his partner, and Mahaad wasn't the type to let the young man stew in his own worried juices for too long. Yuugi had a notorious habit of over-thinking things until he found a way to blame himself, and that simply wouldn't do.
He didn't knock; he felt no need to, even if it was customary. Assuming Heba was home, he likely wouldn't hear him, anyway, over the storm. So he slipped through the door as easily as a shadow, glancing around for the boy.
"Heba?" he called, making a beeline up the stairs, seeking him out as much with his magic as with his eyes.
